I am not a beekeeper yet, but plan to start. I live in the middle of Austin and mow around all of the wildflowers in my yard so that the bees can do their thing. I love going outside in the morning and seeing them just buzzing around.
From a person that lives in the city and is absolutely in love with nature, i love your life. The things i would do to have a simple life in a field, growing my own food and taking care of my animals. I'm feeling a bit lost in life, but seeing how happy you look and how your happiness cheers others up it's very heartwarming to me. thanks bud :,)
Never seen anything so immersive....i was with you as you did the maintenance, filled the jars and tasted that honey....i felt so connected. What a beautiful video....thanks for sharing.
Very good video! Thank you for sharing. I'm a new backyard beekeeper from Butte Montana, I have one "Langstroth" style of hive and I'm looking ahead to next year to possible add a "Flow hive" after watching this I'm convinced that I will give the Flow hive a try... thanks again..
Bees are so particular and smart. They have a whole free zone enterprise there like a supermarket production with roles for everybody and even carry weapons to defend themself as armies, wow thank God for this and all
I remember watching a video where bees found a way to collectively vibrate at such a high frequency around a killer wasp or hornet and literally roasted it. Bee's are super special

I absolutely adore this man! I don’t know if I’m speaking directly to you or not. This was one of the or the only video I’ve ever seen that made me think I could actually make my own honey. Fantastic demonstration! I can’t wait to try this.❤
I love your content and I am so impressed that you have a flow hive! I am familiar with Flow hive for maybe 10 years bit it's kinda expensive for country where I live. I could afford it but unfortunately there are other priorities of family and life. Great video, hope to see more and have a nice day in your amazing garden!
Hi Mr. Weedy- have you heard of Tera Petra Soil? It was created by the tribes in the Amazon forest. It’s amazing stuff, groups of scientists have tested soils from all over the world and found that the Tera Petra soil was the most fertile soil on earth. It can be replicated too. It’s worth checking out. Happy garden!
So rad to see your garden all grown up! I remember watching you start it during the lockdowns, next video should be about what's grown and changed since you started. Do the big leafy, tropical trees like banana have a problem with attracting a lot of cockroaches? I live in a semi-tropical zone too, South Texas, and want to grow banana & coconut etc. but I've always heard of terrible problems
Never seen a cockroach here but maybe the came toads eat them all. Did you see this video yet bro th-cam.com/video/TXqKiPU695M/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XFGL5LUA7SyDYQEP

What an awesome, easy explanatory video to follow along with. Flow hives look incredible- looking forward to more videos on these, more detailed bee keeping would be amazing, and any other details, like what happens to the hive after you've taken the honey? do they repair it? will you harvest the honeycomb too? :)
When you said No bees were hurt when you split the cells the very next clip was a bee stuck in the cell squirming a 9:30 just off center, I don't know why i laughed i guess because of the irony.🤣 Good video though weedy love it !
Hi Weedy how are you? We are in the process of getting a flow hive, especially after you showing us how it works, but have noticed your wood looks as if it's brand new and so shiny. Normally wood goes a greyish colour being left out in the sun for a while. Could you please recommend, or what you used or what to put on the wood to keep it looking brand new like yours. We live in the SW of WA near Nannup, and is very humid in summer and wet in winter and can get some frost Thank you for your help and information and have a great day from the SW of WA
As a bee keeper I'd say, don't buy one, it's bad to work with, bad for the bees, very expensive, complicated to build and set up and just all around a bad choice. Don't get me wrong, I love seeing the honey flow out of the hive. But harvest is really the only part that is made more simple by the flow hive.... and there is a lot more to beekeeping than harvesting. All of which is way harder with a flow hive.
@@TheWeedyGardenno, it's really bad for the bees actually.... The bees communicate with each other through dancing, the vibration of the dance normally goes through the hive and the bees know where the food sources are. But the thick plastic comb in the flow hive stops this vibration which is really bad for bee communication.
@@TheWeedyGardenlove your videos But please look out for moisture content in your honey, it seems very liquid (could also be because of temperature of course). You always wand the bees to have the honey caped before you harvest it. High moisture content can impact shelf live and, at least in the eu, you aren't allowed to sell it with to high of a moisture content.
@jast9999 the flow hive folks were some of the first to widely educate about waggle dance and bee communication... do you have any proof that bee communication is blocked? Or unproven?
Good question. You could watch “splitting a hive” video. It will give you one idea. Another is to catch a swarm, another barter something for some bees. I would say last resort would be to buy some, but yes, you need to find a colony to inhabit your hive. They will very unlikely find it themself. There are just way too many natural locations they could find.
That was really amazing. You really love your Bees. It’s great to see respect for these hard working little darlings. Fascinating thanks. You must be a very calm person and the Bees sense it.
Thank you for the well-directed and clear video of how to care for these hives. I'd heard such negative reviews from local old-timers about it, but this makes me confident I could manage it pretty easily while keeping my bees healthy and disturbing them as little as possible.
Great vid. Looks like you got 9 jars from 2/3rds of the hive. How long did it take the bees to make that btw? How many times a yr can you harvest from that size hive?
Weedy, this is the one I've beeenn waiting for. Great show, I've seen the flow hives a few years ago. Now that you have clearly explained it, I'll be definitely looking at getting one in the near future.
Would I need a queen bee and a whole setup to start a hive on my farm? Or could I just buy a place for them to start a hive? Complete newbe here.. Ive got flowers for days around.

Will there not be enough honey for the bees in the brood box along with the brood?
How long did it take for the bees to produce that much honey?
That shb trap looks amazing. Ive been using little ones that you put inbetween frames. It works but its alot of effort and not as effective
How do you maintain the plastic slots, do you even wash them from inside
Can you explain the overall maintenance of the hive? How often do you need to remove everything and do it all over again? Or is it forever continuous?
Go with the flow yo 🤠
Keep honey out of the sunlight my friend
