- This is how I solved expensive headlight bulb change to Skoda Superb MK3. Maybe it is not correct way, but at least it was way better than Skoda workshop suggested: remove front bumper etc..

Very handy video thanks. I also had the older scissor clip which is an absolute pig. Took me more than 30mins a side as a result.

Tämän innoittamana tilasin Osramin D3S -xenonit, ja vaihtotyö hoitui lopulta ilman pyörän ja lokarin irrottamista. Auttoi kyllä suuresti, kun tiesin mitä on vastassa.
Ahdas se on vaihtaa ilman lokarin irrotusta, mutta onnistuu normisormilla, kunhan tohuaa ilman kiirettä (vaihtelevin sormiottein ja sormenpäillä, välillä oikealla ja välillä vasemmalla kädellä, ehkä myös kaksin käsin ja joka tapauksessa ilman hanskoja). Itse asiassa eniten aikaa meni sulakerasian edessä olevan pienen lokeron irrottamiseen, mutta senkin sain pois ja vielä takaisinkin, joskin oikea tekniikka jäi edelleen arvoitukseksi (ohjekirjassa se kyllä neuvotaan, mutta sen osalta hyödyllisin anti oli tieto siitä, että sen saa irti).
Myös polttimon vieminen sinne umpion taakse pitää tehdä sopivassa asennossa tai vähän käännellen. Kun on saanut sen vanhan irrotettua, niin sillä on verrattain edullista harjoitella. Käänsin valokytkimen 0-asentoon ja lisäksi otin siis pois myös valojen sulakkeet (23, 31, 36 ja 37); en tiedä onko tarpeen ja juuri siksi. Valoon kytkeytyvän johdon liittimessä on pieni jousi, jota pitää painaa, kun irrottaa johdon polttimosta (johtoon nähden vastakkaisessa päädyssä liitintä).
Mitäköhän maksaa työn teettäminen merkkihuollossa tai muualla?
Hienoa, jos oli hyötyä videosta! Itsekin ajattelin, että kokeilisin ilman sisälokasuojien irroitusta vaihtaa noita polttimoita, mutta kolo on sen verran ahdas, että oma lapio ei edes ajattelemalla mahdu sinne. Monimerkkihuollossa tuo vaihto olisi ollut arvion mukaan 600-800€, sisältäen polttimot. Varmaa hintaa ei annettu, kun puskurin irroitustyön kestosta ei ollut kokemusta huollossa. Merkkikorjaamosta en edes kysynyt.
@@janis617 Se polttimo ei ainakaan normaalisti ole kovin tiukassa, ja sen kantaa saa pyöritettyä sormilla, vaikka mitään varsinaista puristusotetta siitä ei saa. Skoda-huollossa xenon-polttimo asennettuna 165€/puoli, mikä ei tuohon monimerkkihuollon arvioon nähden ole lainkaan paha hinta (ehkä ovat sittemmin Skoda-huollossakin katsoneet tämän videon?! 😂). Aiemman Superb 2:n (2010) osalta vaihto oli kyllä huomattavasti helpompi (selvästi enemmän tilaa), ja siihen monimerkkihuolto olisi tarjonnut molemmat polttimot vaihdettuna 170€, joka oli varmaan ihan kohtuullinen hinta, mutta itse vaihdettuna aikaa meni ihmettelyineen alle 10 minuuttia. Eli tuntipalkoille pääsee vielä kummassakin tapauksessa!
Tämän tyyppiset videot ovat kyllä TH-camn parasta antia, ja tee-se-itse-miesten elämä on kyllä helpottonut suuresti viimeisen 10 vuodena aikana. Aika moneen hommaan löytyy jo ohjevideo, joskin ohjeiden asianmukaisuuden arviointi toki jää aina katsojalle. Hienoa, että joku viitsii dokumentoida oman tekemisensä muiden eduksi! 👍
God bless you! Thank you for creating this video. It motivated me to do the bulb replacement myself. For Superb without Dynamic Light Assist, there is no plastic holder for the bulb. It just sits in a steel holder with a clip . The clip needs to be unlocked, bulb in and lock the clip. ...is an adventure. But can be done!
Good to know! Maybe that's the difference between MK3 models, some has dynamic light assist, and some does not. And that makes the difference with bulb holder....possibly. On My Skoda has the dynamic light assist.
@@janis617 Yes, also for Sportline ( my model) there is no padding ( noise insulation) on the plastic wheel housing....Skoda saves money there for lower variants....and makes cabin noisy.😎
Hi i have the same fitment with clips, do you have to twist bulb? Cause i cant lock clips
@@dovydasvaivada7301 yes you have to press the clip, rotate the bulb clockwise till it is stable and release the clip
On my 2016 Superb the bulb doesn’t rotate to remove and doesn’t have the holder to open. It has clips holding the bulb in place.
Thanks for the video though. Very useful. It turned out easier doing it this way than trying to squeeze my hand through the tiny gap from the top!

Would you know if this similar process is required to remove/replace a headlamp washer unit? I have a UK registered Superb L&K hatchback from 2017.

Mine has a way different setup around the bulb than yours, i started trying the simple methoed os just reaching in. But mine 2017 Skods Superb Estate L&K has the "green ring" on yours as a white one that is firmly mounted on the housing. The bulb is then held in by to metal "wires" that clams around the bulb, almost like a normal H7, on it goes around the front of the bulb where you lock the ring around, when inserted in the housing, way harder to get to.

I have standard halogen headlight unit. I would luke to upgrade them to projector/led units. How dificult is it to replace the entire headlight unit?
I'm sorry, I haven't removed or replaced the entire headlight myself, because I understood that to remove it, you have to disassemble the bumper. And so far, I haven't had the need for it myself.

Specifically, these headlights are bi-xenon. The bulb for low beam and high beam is the same. It's just that the magnifier opens up more when you play the long sets.

So will my 2017 L&K xenon fit on the same way and be D3S bulbs too?
I’m not a Skoda expert, but that’s how I figured out before replacing the bulb that the D3S is a common Xenon type in the MK3 Superb.
You can open the hood and try that way to open the dust cover of the headlight. Thus, you may see if the bulb is D3S.
But I'm pretty sure it is D3S.
2016 L&K is just like in this video (the bulbs are d3S / PK32d-5) and the job can also be done without removing the inner fender (at least it is worth to try before removing it). Carefully and without gloves and rush!
- Lights off (0-position)
- perhaps remove the fuses 23, 31, 36 and 37 (lights)

Hello, in my Skoda Superb year of construction 2018 with Bi-Xenon I was able to change lamps from the top. Both lamps in 20 minutes. No need to remove any cover neither the front wheels. It look same than the one in video.

I have 2017.. Funny, it should be the same. But I've heard already from another, that he has also different as mine. Anyway, I hope this helps to access to the lamp.

on my audi from 2001 was so easy to change bulb, now idiots cant produce anything nomal..
Totally agree .. though, that Skoda dynamic light system is perhaps the best invention in the cars I’ve owned so far. And that, combined with bright HIDs, makes me smile while driving on dark roads. Can't even remember anymore this pain in the *#!% of bulb replacement. =)

If Your tools (hands) are small enough, probably You can do it from engine bay..

You're kidding, aren't you... I changed both bulbs in 10 minutes, just by opening the covers and replacing the bulbs... According to your method, maybe it's good to dismantle the gearbox too, because it makes you uncomfortable when changing the bulbs... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@janis617 I'm 56 years old and 115 kg... I can't say that I have thin fingers... just that, I'm a car mechanic. I know how to change at least one light bulb, without dismantling half the car. I don't do commercial things, for money... I make things working properly. 😂😂😂
@@adrianpopa9376 Then I wonder if we have similiar structure on the car.. 🤔 On my Skoda, there is no chance to fit hand behind headlights. But as I mentioned to some comment, it could be possible to replace bulbs without removing inner fender, if You have small hands. But for me it is not possible. Btw, this video is not made for making money, I do not get any money from this video. I just made the video to help someone like Me, who can't replace bulbs without removing inner fender.
@@janis617 Well, I don't think there is any major difference in the location behind the headlights. If this video is to help people change light bulbs, then I think it should be the easy way not the most complicated way. Through your method you can really see with your own eyes what you are doing and how to do it. With my method, the time is at least 10 times shorter, at least 10 times less work, only it has to be a little intuitive because you don't see what you're doing at all, you just feel it with your fingers. Usually, those who are looking for DIY have this ability to understand without necessarily seeing. This light bulb exchange system that you propose is used in a proportion of 90% by brand service, with the aim of increasing the labor cost price. And now let's be serious, how many of the followers would not prefer a shorter time and with as little work as possible.
Lol u dnt need to do so much to change the xenons of the projectors on the skoda superb 😂😂 i just had mine changed by just opening the dust cover and changing the bulbs 😂😂
