Best car i ever bought and I've bought lots over the last 50 years. Styling. Great. Runs well. There's lots of bad cars out there.but the Audi tt is not one of them. You will love it.
I've owned my 2001 225 for over a year and use it as my daily driver. It looks amazing with the Quattro Sport silver and black roof styling. Spent a lot getting various bits fixed on it but love driving it. Only 73,000 miles on the clock too! Fantastic to drive on the B roads around the Isle of Wight.
Believe it or not the 1.8t quattro with the bam engine are more sought after. And arguably alps quicker than the 3.2 and a much nicer drive. I'd still like the 3.2 though
I paid £850 for mine best bit of kit I’ve bought, and as a 20 year old the insurance is pretty cheap, I’ve done all the necessary mods and it’s running just shy of 300bhp, what a machine my mates call it a girls car until they get in it 😂
Front mount intercooler, 3” turbo back exhaust, oversized intake kit, and a few other minor details, I sold it about 6 months ago just seen it on eBay smashed up 😂 too fast for somebody
Love that vid, got same one but silver and different alloys as my daily driver last May. Such a natural position for driving too... My needs a bit of suspension work, bushes etc. and I think I will replace the suspension parts for new ones soon, don't care that it starts to bubble slightly on front wing arches, that will get repaired if need to be. My rational for choosing this car was to get the fastest 0-60s time for least money and TT mk1 came really on top. As I commute a lot to work, sometimes to different workplaces, I wanted to be able to overtake on B roads, that I know well, as quickly as possible which often means safer too. Mine is BAM too, replaced the ignition coils and did general service including haldex too. I might have slight oil leak I think, I top up 200-300 mls every 2 full tanks - meaning every 700-800 miles. It looks like the head gasket was replaced a bit. Overall just small niggles here and there for 2002 model. Leak into rear reg lights caused by ingress through holes for rear wing attachment - sealed the wing with transparent fish-tank grade silicon. Interior light not working - repaired broken soldering on PCB unit of the top interior light. Signals not flashing but steady light - disassembled the warning lights unit and mended the relay which worked... lol But the interior is so well preserved for 17 year old car and 7 previous owners lol - by the way lots of bills shows each of them replaced something here and there - the last one was alternator. I have done around 6000 miles in it so far and doing about 31 mpg at the moment. Got it for £1700 with 116000 miles on clock. Great bargains if you handy a bit or have a friend car mechanic.
Nice review. Now on my 3rd mk1 the door mirrors are a thing of beauty and they reflect perfectly over the rear wings. I love the enclosed feel inside, hate cars with big greenhouse glazing.
One car I've never owned but always liked. Still hanker after the Quattro sport version. I had a 350z instead. You make a good point about insurance, Im pushing 50 now and have never paid more than 500 notes for performance car insurance. The costs to young motorists today is ridiculous.
The TT has aged really well. Even after 20 years it doesn't look that dated. There are some great bargains to be had for what is a cracking little sports coupe.
Very informative. I'm actually thinking of getting a TT round about 04 reg. I've been an Audi driver since I could drive although I did have a couple of beetles to start with in the early 70s. Ive got a subaru impreza RB5 at the moment which is a fantastic car, but it's my every day driver plus is used for classic car shows as well, but now I'm retired it's time to move the RB5 on soon and get myself another modern classic. I like the 3.2 TT as it has some extra styling on the bodywork, but are a bit more money, plus after 2004 the road tax on them went over the £500 mark. So yes. Thanks for the video, my mind is made up now.
