- It's a gloomy Wednesday and I'm in a Wednesday kinda mood. Loved listening to this arrangement in the show and it's been stuck in my head for a few days now. Couldn't find the sheet music so I wrote it out myself. My brain and ears turned to mush halfway through...hopefully it's close. Enjoy!

hey, just wondering, can you actually play parts of this? because I don't think I have enough hands to play some of the sections, Eg bar 25 till the end of the phrase, or 13 - 15?
@@Chcharles06 Honestly, it's super difficult (near impossible) to 1. play it and 2. play it accurately with a clean tone and intonation at this tempo. I've worked out some fingerings (lots of thumb and crossing multiple strings) but honestly, I recommend playing it as a duet if you really want all the notes. (I've added a duet version as well).

@Charles I feel that. I was so excited to play it and for a while it went well, but with all the extended forth fingers my hand was getting tired quickly. Then, there were notes as high as I have played nearly never (I only tried The Swan once and those notes were quite a challenge for me). This piece is wonderful and I am grateful to have notes for it, but it will take me a little while to figure out how to play some parts XD
Thank you so much! You wouldn't happen to have any fingerings for measures 22-23 and other difficult to read parts like that? If I need to I can find a video of someone playing it and slow it down to the point and look at their fingerings. Just thought you might have made/found them.
I want to thank you sincerely as a cello player. First, after watching the show and listening to it, I was already amazed and tried to play it badly. So I went to my favorite free domain music center Musescore and found the piece. However, I came today to see it gone due to copyright from a scummy company that wants you to buy their crappy arrangement of Paint it Black. I was so heartbroken that I wouldn't be able to see the exact original I had found, but you have made it and also a free PDF download of the piece, so I can never lose it again. Thank you again. This made my day.
Happy to help, and I feel you. I originally wrote it out because I wanted to play it myself but after seeing how hard it was to find a version I liked, I figured others would be feeling the same so I made it shareable. After all, we're all here because we loved the arrangement on the show~

For all you treble makers ;), I've turned my pdf link into one for a shared folder. There's one for straightforward treble conversion (raised an octave), and one for violins/flutes (I tweaked some of the lower notes so they fall within violin range). Also added a low F and E in measure 48.

I love this piece now. I think it’s my cello because my notes sound nothing like it but also I have the same cello I got from 4th grade and I’m currently in 7th but I think I just need a higher quality cello not a school one.. so sadly I can’t play this but music is still great! :)

I'll try to upload something soon. It's recital/holiday gig season so I've been working nonstop and haven't had much time for personal projects lately.
How would you recommend playing measures 13-16?
The snap or Bartok pizz is played by plucking vertically and more aggressively so you get that percussive sound of the strings against the fingerboard. Honestly, it is nearly impossible to do all the notes as written as a solo. (I say nearly because I'm sure there will be some superhuman prodigy that'll prove me wrong one day). I have a duet version in mind, I will upload tomorrow. As someone who has done studio work before, I am 100% sure this was layered and not played all in one take.

how are you supposed to play b flat and f together in measure 26. i get thumb on the f and 3 on the b flat, but that switch is impossible compared to the notes before and after in tempo
Honestly, I just transposed what I heard, but to perform, I would either opt out the low F or raise it an octave.

Sorry, I'm not a composer and am not confident in writing for flutes specifically. There is a treble clef version and a violin (treble clef instruments) version available.

Unfortunately, I'm not as confident in my piano music writing nor understanding of flute techniques. If you just want me to raise it a couple octaves and send it to you in treble clef, I could do that?

I don't play cello, so don't quote me 100% lol, but I do believe it is technically possible, but there are some extremely difficult parts in it that the vast majority of people probably can't play
I have degrees in cello performance and musicology. It is quite difficult to play all the notes at this tempo and I know for a fact that this was a layered recording (common thing to do in recording studios for cleaner sound and intonation). However, it is doable as a duet which is also in the folder.
I’ve found treble clef versions. Bass clef versions. And 0 alto clef versions. SOMEBODY PLEASE MAKE A SHEET MUSIC FOR US VIOLAS AND ALTO CLEFS

Lol. Yes, the midi tremolos on the older Musescore version I had was ridiculous!! I have an arrangement of Come Little Children (Hocus Pocus) that I was working on and the tremelos made me laugh so much, I couldn't finish writing it...should probably get back to that one day...

Have you tried looking into rental programs in your area? Or if you are a student, some schools will lend you instruments. See if an orchestra in your area does community outreach and lesson scholarships for students needing financial assistance, some private teachers might even have a lender cello you could use in the meanwhile (I've loaned my teaching cello to students in the past). Last resort, check pawn shops for used student cellos in decent condition.
