  • In August of 2023, my buddy Stan and I flew to Billings MT and rented Royal Enfield Himalayans to do the Wyoming BDR and some more tracks on a 10 day trip. Our route comprised of a loop of the BDR going backwards north to south, then picking up more or less the Great Divide route up to Tetons NP, then back to our start in Red Lodge MT through Yellowstone. It was a fantastic adventure, each day was full of great scenery, great riding, and always some kind of surprise.

What a great day - trails look awesome and the views! Punxsutawney Phil just said we'll get an early spring. You've got me thinking summer! Well done.

Nice ride JP. I’m from the ozarks but have rode my Harley out that way a few times. I loved watching those storms creep across the plains. 60 deg here today. Got my honey dues done. You inspired me to get my himi out today. Thanks bud.

Really nice ride, John. I love Wyoming. Drove across there once in 1999 coming from BC, Canada.
Lots rolling hills and knobs on the horizon.
But you hit some very different sections on this segment. Lots of terrain and forestation variety.😊

Another good one JP. Also wanted to let you know that after watching your videos last summer, I finally got off the fence and bought a 2019 Himalayan.

It's a bummer about the chin mount - but it forced you to think outside the box and do some cool shots. Wish I'd been on this one - awesome roads...

JP, somehow you edited out the uphill (from the direction you were traveling) sand trap just shortly after the Prior Flat campground. Had to have been a struggle from that direction!! I didn't like it even going down hill!! Thanks for the video, that's a great section of the WY BDR.

Most likely I just didn't;t have the GoPro recording at that time. For most of this trip I had to not film the hardest stuff because I ended up concentrating on riding and not filming holding the camera one handed.
Okay yes I just remembered the section you are talking about. Yes - it was thick beach sand up on the crest of one of the mountains. It was pretty tough, but if I recall we both made it through without dumping the bikes.
Yeah I got no video of that. One of many video fail regrets of this trip. Grrr. I guess I'll have to go back and ride it again better prepared with cameras and mounts!

Johnny, if you made it up that sand pit kudos to you! I rode all of the Wyoming BDR, and that hillside-- along with Beaver Rim section I'd rate as the most treacherous! Kudos brother!

Great stuff. I can't wait to do my run at the wybdr this summer on my himalayan. How long did it take to get back to red lodge on your loop that you did. Cause that would work for me since I live in billings. Thanks for doing this on a stock himalayan as well. It means I don't have to fully kit my bike to get it done.

Stay tuned I think I’m going to make a wrap up video and go through the route map with some thoughts and ideas. I definitely have a tip for you coming down Woodchuck pass N to S to avoid the part that messed us up
