Nice to see the Dell Dimension 2350 again. I miss my Dimension 4600 which I had used for over eight years (2003-2011). I even got that computer back when it was new. That home video clip at the end also suprised me how much your voice has changed. Also got a good laugh out of the "World's Smallest Computer" and "Laptop" at the end playing the AOL "You Got Mail" sound clips.
Nice upgrade and I'll admit I do love SSDs in older PCs, just a heads up you might want to get yourself a "ORICO 2.5 to 3.5 Inch HDD SSD Mounting Bracket" (Might be an OEM design I bet) so the smaller drive fits in the hard drive slot you removed. I used one for an original Xbox when installing a new hard drive in one last year. Saved me having to tape it down or something and looked far more elegant than it flopping around assuming the IDE adaptor you used will work with it.
2003 Billy has the same energy as the present day one! I think my first experience with a computer (a Packard Bell, nonetheless) was that year, or maybe 2004. Back to the present, I would suggest replacing that IDE cable with an 80 wire one (why did they even supply a 40 wire cable in 2003???) and enable UDMA, it could help performance.
You and I are the same, this is the machine I learned how to install windows on. Windows XP. I had a lot of viruses and figured reinstalling windows would work, it was just a guess and it worked, then I learned what drivers were 😅 I now build PCs and mod consoles, my dimension 2400 is how I would ftp halo 1 and 2 mods to a modified Xbox. And it ran Mac OS X tiger!
This is very interesting. I think I mentioned it before, but the front end of the Dell Dimension 2350 in this video looks similar to my Dell OptiPlex GX260 PC with Windows XP Professional SP2 on it. Both Dell computers look cool!
I’d get a sata to IDE adapter for my iBook but the lack of startech adapters for reasonable prices and others being so questionable comparability I just installed a new old stock Samsung HDD 5400rpm and enjoy the space and it’s fast enough.
almost the same, only difference really is that the 2400 has the i845GV chipset instead of i845GL, and supports 533MHz FSB processors whereas the 2350 only does 400MHz FSB. Aside from that the BIOSes might be slightly different, and from what I recall when I had a 2350, it didn’t support USB booting. the 2400 should support USB booting though.
HI computer this age is very lucky i have amd k6 it still on the same window 98 8 track audio editer recorder it was used in london at itv 1 of 2 there's a scsi set up in side the unit looks like a akai dd8 unit not far of i payed very small money for it the post was more than the unit note the mum pcb is not 100% working it boots up the bio boot doe's not work right it will not change it was sitting for a long time

the 2350 and 3000 use the same chassis
That was a very nice surprise at the end, to see an old video that you made about it in 2003.
I have a Dell Dimmension 2400 that i got a while ago. I should really get it working at some point. Probably one of my favourite computers too
I just got A dusty 2350 and a matching Black CRT monitor at an estate sale today
Glad this Dell is getting some more love! That low color glitch was hilarious😆😆
I think I speak for us all. Eff Musicmatch Jukebox. Winamp FOR LIFE
sonique for life here bruh
Nice computer upgrade to this Dell. Greetings for you Billy and your wife. Greetings from Steven from the Netherlands
Now that looks fantastic!
That was a much needed upgrade lol. Its amazing how a simple SSD just makes these old machines work better then ever. Sorry about your father.
Its going to fail in a few months. No one should use Sata SSD's in 2024
@@Warp2090 what should they use instead? nvme?
@@Theutmostgeek Yes. NVME is far more reliable and faster. Almost all computers made today have it
This Dimension 2350 can reuse the MB as Modern Board, for save the e-waste of course
Looks great. Have you downloaded latest chipset drivers for it? I believe it is 6.3.0.1007 is the latest I think. May provide some better support.
6:35 OK... that was funny! Darn kitties messing up your computer!
I knew it was a mistake to have cat videos permeate pop culture!
xp doesnt support trim so its gonna kill the drive quicker.. use aome to trim the drive size properly
My mother and father got this pc on 2004 then sold it for unknown reasons

How close is the 2350 to 2400 in hardware? I think you can run windows 3.11 and 98se easily on it

Get a Sata to NVME adapter. Regular SSD's are unreliable and junk
That computer is too old to have SATA.
