I'm going on hospice. I'm so scared. Thanks for doing the videos. It just goes to show you that we have so much more to give. Unfortunately, we need help. I've enjoyed your videos.
+Christine Davidson I'm very sorry to hear that Christine. I can't imagine how scared you are but don't give up the fight! You are a strong person and have already overcome so much in life but now you have another tough obstacle in your way. I wish I could do more to help you but I hope my videos have helped in some small way and you should know I have really appreciated all your positive comments since I started making the videos. Please keep in touch through Facebook or email if you can.. I hope the very best for you and your family!
Hello Shaun, how are you doing my brother 😊😊? Glad to see you on your TH-cam video of you by practising your hotel bed transfer and also practicing by using your bed ladder to transferring yourself onto your wheelchair and then onto your hotel bed😊😊. Practise takes courage pal😊😊. God bless you brother 😊😊. I love you heaps brother ❤❤😊😊. Take care brother 😊😊. Glad you have a friend or a person to help you to transfer😊😊. Best friends as always from PaulLaw😊😊.
I’m so confused by why you transfer that way then spin your legs the opposite way. So much harder than just lifting them up? What’s the logic there? Also considering I usually forget the bed ladder, lol I sit up by hooking my wrist on my push rim by the bed. Wouldn’t work with your chair backwards tho. It’s bailed me out a few times when travelling solo
Hey, I'm a year into my injury (c/5-c/6) and I was curious how long it took you to be able to transfer without push gloves or if you ever needed them? My right arm didn't move below the shoulder until (January) 8 months after my injury. I've got to say thank you man. I've learned most of my abilities from your videos. I'm finally graduating to a manual chair this month and used yours as a base platform to build mine!
+Tym Hale That is really inspiring to hear! Thank you for watching and if you want to see anything I haven't made a video of just let me know and I'll do my best to get something made for you. It sounds like you are doing great for only a year post injury! It does make transferring a little easier if you have a glove on your push hand and I used one for a few months until I had a good solid push without my hand slipping. If you are looking to play rugby definitely contact Kat K and she can hook you up with the Nor Cal team. They are an awesome group and will help you for sure.
Thanks man! I'm hoping to catch up to you some day. I'm not sure what you were able to do when you first started but 11 yrs is a long time to progress and you sure make it look a lot easier lol. Did you start out in a manual chair?
When ever I go away, I get a acessible room. The problem is the bed is at least 9'' to 10''' too high. What do you do? My husband has to put me in and out of the bed. I hate not being able to go to bed or getting up when I want too. Any idea's?
Hey! Sorry I missed your comment last week! So what I do is call the front desk and have them send maintenance up to remove the bed frame and set the box spring on the ground so it's just that and the mattress. Any hotel will do this for you and I've personally done it dozens of times.
Good luck when you book a hotel that has changed their beds to 5 feet tall. Of course, I'm exaggerating but some hotels have beds that are extremely difficult to transfer onto--you need to be a mountain climber.
What you do in that situation in call down and ask maintenance to come remove the box spring so the bed is normal height. I have done this dozens of times at all different hotel chains... very simple fix.
Hey Jean I'm not sure if I replied to another one of these comments or if I messaged you but I think I did. But for anybody else watching this video what I do anytime I'm traveling and the hotel is bed is too high I will call down to maintenance and have them come remove the box spring or the frame under the box spring. Whichever one will lower the bed to the correct height and they can and will do this without any problem and store it for you or at least place it in the corner against the wall out of the way. All hotels will do this and if they won't I know some good lawyers LOL
@@LiveToRoll I'm glad you've had luck with that, I have not most hotel maintenance I've dealt with will not make any change. Just drove home lst night 200 miles because hotel (Ho=Chunk Casino Baraboo,WI) wouldn't make any accomidation.
Love this one. So educational for me as a clinician and my peeps...THX Shawn!

Well you do it.

1人で出来るのは大変な事だわ頑張って欲しい。あなたをみてるとせつないわ😂
I appreciate your support. It was tough to do things alone before, even though, for me, it is a great pride to have independence.
