I have now listened to all five hours, fifty-nine minutes and fifty-six seconds of this wonderful compilation and repeat my thanks to you, Frank, for assembling it with such care and dedication. Just when I thought I had heard all that there was to hear of Patricia’s recordings I am particularly glad to have encountered several new treasures. I have never been one to buy records, finding that repetition of the same performance tended to make it feel stale, yet - in a strange reaction I have never felt before - I can listen to Patricia’s performances again and again without them in any way losing their freshness. It is as if they are now an indispensable part of life.
Merci merci merci! ...Vraiment Merci pour tous ces merveilleux moments plein d émotions! Patricia Janeckova la plus belle voix lyrique...que nous n auront jamais le plaisir d écouter sur scène 😢😢 Merci pour toutes ces vidéos
I find it interesting just how much gold had to be excavated to build out the legacy of an example of excellence. Patricia was human, after all: she sometimes confused the verses of the Doll Aria with one another. Yet Patricia never let it get to her head. Indeed, she often sang repertory that was new to her as though she had sung it before. I noticed that even in the short clip of Tornami a vagheggiar that we have. I can now say I have heard Patricia sing at least part of that aria. Thank you, Frank, for this monumental achievement.
Ins ewige Licht! Die hundertjährige Stimme, die Seele die Hoffnung verteilt.
‘Your destiny is flight, my destiny is singing.’ A thread of melancholy runs through many of the pieces performed by Patricia, with themes of parting, farewell and death. This is exemplified in Sbohem a šáteček, by Vítězslava Kaprálová who, like Patricia, died at the age of 25 after a short but distinguished musical career. Patricia sings this piece at 4:11:19 in this volume of Frank’s Complete anthology. The text that follows was provided by an online translator, but despite its probable limitations it conveys enough to foreshadow Patricia’s own departure. Goodbye and a scarf Goodbye and if we never met it was beautiful and it was enough Goodbye and if we had a date together maybe I won't come another guest will come It was beautiful, alas, everything has an end Shut up dying girl shut up that sadness I already know A kiss a handkerchief a siren a ship's bell three four smiles and then be alone Goodbye, and if we never said anything more, let us leave behind a small memory, as airy as a handkerchief, simpler than a postcard and a little seductive as the smell of tinsel And if I saw what others haven't seen, so much the better swallow you're looking for a homestead You showed me the south where you have your nest in the closet Your destiny is flight my destiny is singing Goodbye and if it was all for the last time, all the worse, my hopes will be gone If we want to meet, let's not say goodbye, so Goodbye and a scarf fulfil your destiny!

Goodbye and a scarf
Goodbye and if we never met
it was beautiful and it was enough
Goodbye and if we had a date together
maybe I won't come another guest will come
It was beautiful, alas, everything has an end
Shut up dying girl shut up that sadness I already know
A kiss a handkerchief a siren a ship's bell
three four smiles and then be alone
Goodbye, and if we never said anything more,
let us leave behind a small memory,
as airy as a handkerchief, simpler than a postcard
and a little seductive as the smell of tinsel
And if I saw what others haven't seen,
so much the better swallow you're looking for a homestead
You showed me the south where you have your nest in the closet
Your destiny is flight my destiny is singing
Goodbye and if it was all for the last time,
all the worse, my hopes will be gone
If we want to meet, let's not say goodbye, so
Goodbye and a scarf fulfil your destiny!
Wherever you are
Patricia
