2007 Ford F150: Backseat POV test drive

  • I've never done an actual "driving" video of this truck, so I figured I would. I'll also have one for my car coming out later. This is as best as I could get. I apologize for the amount of shaking with the camera, as well as the tripod and camera making creeking/popping noises. There is a lot of stuff in the cab that also makes slight noises, so you may hear that as well, but I never notice any of it since I basically never drive without the radio on. This is what I get for using an old, cheaply made tripod, and an old camcorder that doesn't have a very good stabilizer. As much as I didn't like my old Sony Handycam, it had one benefit over this Canon, and that was that the stabilizer was UNREAL. You could violently shake that thing around and it wouldn't show up on camera. It would be very beneficial for videos like this. I also original recorded this video in 1080p at 60 fps, but downscaled it to 720p at 30 fps, because 60 fps was too violent to be watchable. I figured the slower frame rate would lessen the shaking, but barely.

I miss my 2004 Ford F-150. It was only an extended cab and I had it for almost a year, brand new cam phases and coil packs as well as a new timing chain at 200k miles. In February 2023 I slid on black ice one night on my way to work and it rolled down the ditch several times until the drivers side struck a tree.
It crushed the door in and I had to get over to passenger side to get out. I also had the wind knocked out of me, but I was able to walk away uninjured.

It took me a year and a half to find one with no rust that also had the 4.6. No way I was dealing with the 5.4 and all of the issues all the used ones have. My plan is to keep this one around as long as humanly possible.

No problem! Is it a 4.6 or 5.4? If it's a 4.6, you'll love it, if it's a 5.4, unless you know for a FACT it has been perfectly taken care of, I wouldn't buy it.

@@nwilliams9826 It should be listed in the ad, if not, look at the fender badge. If it says "TRITON" or "XLT TRITON" or "STX TRITON" then it's a 4.6, if it says "XLT 5.4 TRITON" or "5.4 TRITON" or "LARIAT 5.4 TRITON" then it's a 5.4. All of the 4.6 ones just say "TRITON", all of the 5.4s will say "5.4 TRITON" .
I would HIGHLY advise you stay away from a 5.4, to be honest, at least after 2003. They are SUPER problem prone. I'm the biggest Ford guy ever but I will NEVER get a 3 valve 5.4.
It took me a year and a half to find this truck. I guarentee you if you wait long enough you'll find a 4.6 and you'll get it and fall in love with it. Unless you're heavily towing all the time, thr 4.6 is fine. You can do as you want but IMO it's worth waiting for a 4.6, assuming this one isn't. A good 75% of these 11th gen F150s for sale on the used market have the 5.4.

@@isaac24 can’t tell for sure cuz car gurus posted blurry pictures but I think it’s a XLT or STX one of the two

@@nwilliams9826 If it's an STX it probably has the 4.6. If it's an XLT there's a 60/40 chance that it has the 5.4. XLTs were standard with the 4.6 but most people optioned them with the 5.4.

Im in highschool thinking about maybe getting a 4.6 is it a good reliable option, or no?

Yes it's been bulletproof. Run away from the 5.4.

Also if you're in the rust belt MAKE SURE to check out the ENTIRE frame. These 11th gens have BAD frame rot in the midwest/rust belt. Especially on the inside of it, and especially in the back half, but make very sure it's not rusted out. If you're not in the rust belt then it's no issue.
