We found you looking for Tasmania videos on you tube and we have watched and really enjoyed all of your Tassie videos, we've watched some of your others too, we are also from Western Australia(wheat belt area) and we are going over to Tasmania in April for just 2 weeks, and have lots to fit in, we are so excited and looking forward to it especially after Summer over here has been brutal. Thanks for all your tips and advice. And wish you all the best for your adventures to come. 💜💜💜
Thank you so much for the kind words! 💙 You'll have the most amazing time in Tassie we're sure, it's such a beautiful place. And the weather will be such a relief for you after how hot WA has been, we really loved the Tassie temps.... Perfect for hiking and going on walks anytime of day, honestly we've struggled dealing with the heat now that we're back on the mainland 🥵
How dare you not get a cappuccino and toasted banana bread from the golden arches before boarding! 😮 Lol... Bring the next adventures back on the mainland🇦🇺
🤣 Right?! It suddenly dawned on us when we saw those iconic arches from the upper deck. We’ll have to go back soon to complete the task at hand, perhaps adding a hashbrown or two onto that list.
I understand, it would be super stressful leaving them for that long. If you're not in it already there's a Lap of Tasmania Facebook group and there have been quite a few conversations of dog owners talking about taking their pups over on the SOT and tips they'd recommend for preparing your dog and making sure they're comfortable.
Definitely, we always make sure to eat all of our veggies and fruits before any border crossing anyway just to be safe 😊 Tas to Vic is less strict but still has some restrictions.
Do NOT book a night sail at 9pm instead of 6pm if you have a choice. We had a 3-hour delay which would be fine if you have to wait until 9pm for dinner and a drink … but if you depart at midnight, the atmosphere is DEAD. Seeing you at the Devonport docks reminded me how soul-destroying it was sitting in my car at 11:59pm like I was homeless and couldn’t sleep but needed to sleep. Once we got on board, the bars were shut or dead silent, no party. The really frustrating bit was the next morning when we were supposed to arrive at 9am but instead had to waste HALF THE DAY puttering slowly into Port Phillip Bay and Geelong. I started looking angrily at the maps and realised that Geelong is the stupidest place to put a passenger terminal - we could have saved literally 2 or 3 hours if the boat could somehow dock on the ocean side (it would need a massive breakwater, pier, etc) and driving the rest at 80km/h would have cut hours off the journey - they chose Geelong because it was cheaper and had a ton of freight docks and shipping infrastructure. Departing out of Geelong at night has one benefit - all those hours slowly cruising through the bay is the perfect time to get to sleep, before the ocean swells make the boat more shaky. Whereas the other direction it’s vital you don’t have a full day of driving planned like I did - because leaving at midday SUCKS. As much as I love country drives, I hate driving at night as much as I hate city peak hour. But there’s no getting around the fact that the M1 to Geelong is one of the most boring good roads in Australia, and the drivers are crazy too. They just don’t make pleasant freeways in Victoria. The M1 north of Sydney is incredible. You pointed to “we didn’t make it to the Golden Arches” but your finger was literally pointing at the best café-restaurant of my whole Tasmania trip. The scrambled eggs there were the best I’d had in a decade - I’ll go straight there next time I arrive in Tassie.
Oh no.... a 3 hour delay!! That whole experience sounds terrible. You would have been knackered the night of and then lost so much time the next day. 🤣 You're right, funnily enough we said to each other that they should have just dropped us off before the rip on the ocean side and it would have saved loads of time. On the way to Tassie we had the night sail, had such an easy sail for hours but foolishly stayed up till midnight playing games so when we went to go to bed the boat was going through the rip. We were trying to shower and fall asleep with the boat rocking us side to side. Thankfully we still had pretty great experiences both ways so can't complain. Sorry you had such a crappy experience. I'm sure we'll be back to Tassie one day so we'll have to follow your recommendation and head straight to that cafe next time (and the 'Golden Arches' 😉).
@@lydiaandwehan yeah good one! Oh one more tip: Somehow if you can, get a cabin on the higher deck. In the lower deck, you might be bombarded with noise after midnight, from the decks below. While I was lying in bed I thought it sounded like cars coming loose, handbrakes off somehow, bashing into the walls ... vivid imagination. But the next day I think we decided it was lifeboats swinging and bashing from the outside ... after all, there weren't a handful of crushed cars inside!
We booked in for a 9pm sail from Melbourne and the ship didn’t arrive from Devonport until midnight. No explanation from staff as to the delay. Food was disgusting and overpriced. Couldn’t help but feel sorry for the overseas visitors sampling such dross. What a welcome to Tassie when it could be so much better. Surly staff.
Well done guys. Welcome back to the mainland. You leave a piece of your ❤ in Tassie when you go. It's just so beautiful. Can't wait for the next one 😊
Oh for sure, a bittersweet feeling but we're also very excited to be back on the mainland! 💙

Tasmania dosnt have any weeds, disease or bugs that mainland Australia don't have .We don't want to introduce some they have
