I hope you enjoy watching. The Pool Project, is unique in the fact of the way things were recorded in the pool house, it imparts a very unusual character to the voices and instruments that were recorded there. Thanks so much for the continued support.
Michael, I am so glad you are enjoying the channel. I love sharing my initial first-hand reactions to these libraries, sometimes I get so excited I jump on live just a few hours after downloading them. I always want to provide authentic perspectives in sharing my passion for these amazing libraries. I have moments when watching some of the replays or as I am editing the "Flashbacks" where I find myself, well, laughing out loud at myself. 🤓 Thanks again for watching, and for the kind encouragement. All the best.
do you find that the dynamics of the piano are weird? the sound is beautiful but i don't know why they would use a dynamics slider instead of making it more velocity sensitive like any other piano
I would need to go back and check it, but the first thing that I thought of was that it might be that it could possibly have only one dynamic layer. I will see if I can verify that.
Yeah, it is a strange one, I think because it is so muted with the felt. What I think the DYNAMIC SLIDER is doing here is sort of acting like a velocity scaling dynamic range adjustment. You can dial in a very almost not present velocity layer at the minimum and go all the way where the dynamics are ALL loud. Somewhere in the middle would be where I would use it most of the time. you could also do some further tweaking in the MIDI track velocity scaling as well as the controller curves.
@@PraiseTracks so you still think you can still get a fairly dynamic performance playing it like a normal velocity sensitive piano depending on where you put the slider? i actually asked oliver about it when the library came out because i found it so strange and he said he thought it was weird too and maybe it could be fixed in a future update. It just seems weird that there would be something that he finds weird or maybe didn't get the final ok on in his own library.
Yeah, I have a feeling that no matter where this would land that you shouldn’t expect a very wide dynamic range. The double felt nature of the piano feels like it is meant for those very subdued moments. What the dynamic slider does do in my opinion is to get you into a specific tonal range where all the way down it would be very covered, while pushed all the way up would tend to be on the brighter, almost percussive end of the spectrum. I would be interested in knowing more from Oliver about his intent when approaching this particular piano. The same could also go for the duct tape piano I would imagine.
@@PraiseTracks its not so much getting to that really loud layer but in the past i felt like it didn't go as quiet as i wanted. I haven't tried it in a while tho so I'm gonna give it another go. I appreciate how you actually open up plugins to try to answer questions the best you can.
Wow! Of all the things I expected from this library I didn't think it would be the pianos that would get me excited, but they are gorgeous!
Nice, been looking forward to this one

Your videos are always a fun watch! You expressions sometimes crack me up. Good demo.

Love The Pool Project. Recorded a few racks using the library.

Simeon, did you ever Unify The Pool Project?
