    Edward has been a steady supporter of his mother the Queen and isn’t a grandstander like others in the family. He has a very calming voice and demeanor.☺️

    I like this. Nice to see that a royal cares about the preservation of history and he doesn't see to be above being a show commentator.

      He’s obviously more interested in the history of his family than his mother is.

    • @baylorsailor
      @baylorsailor ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@simplelifelost why would you think that? She grew up in a time where it would have been unheard of for the royal family to become the host of a television series. Edward was even given a hard time by his own peers when he made these. They believed it to be too "common".

    He makes history fascinating and real, he's literally speaking about his own ancestors , if he ever gives up his royal job, he would be one of the most respected and knowledgeable royal historical experts and best commentators .

      His documentary on his great uncle, “Edward on Edward” is very good. I am puzzled as to why he couldn’t make a go of this business, as he is quite skilled and, of course, has access most do not.

      Edward has grown into himself...by himself and not had the tight reigns on him as his elder siblings by his own choice. As a very young man, he always had an interest in acting and producing. He ventured out and gave it a go and things did not go as well as planned. He was the youngest by a mile and possibly indulged a bit...and when the press did not give him great reviews, he was a bit of a pratt about it. That mistake has haunted him since. He moved along and stayed out of the limelight, but unfortunately, that one small incident was the last impression the world had of him for a while. It's so difficult to be royal because the standards are set too high. We are all the same when we get down to it and are all fallible.
      Prince Edward has certainly redeemed himself. This series was written, produced, and narrated all by him, and his maturity, professionalism, and wisdom over the years are finally allowing him to channel that activity designed to entertain and interest others.

    • @grrriallen7192
      @grrriallen7192 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, as he aged he matured is what happened. AS a young man he did some dumb stuff as we all have done and at times dated liked a spoiled brat , again as we all have done. He just did it in public.

    Excellent and enjoyable series of masterful bite sized documentaries - my knowledge of British history is pretty good but I'm learning new facts all the time. Instead of spending money on commissioning "new" programmes of this type the BBC and other broadcasters would do well to negotiate "another chance to see" - Prince Edward's inside track may have helped to get access to the inaccessible but these programmes are all the better for it and well presented with natural ability.They are of immense value and not least as an aid to tuition at a time when some well meaning but misguided citizens seem to think we should bury our Nations past. I'm finding it hard to not binge watch !

    Again, thank you very much, Prince Edward. These episodes are very calming as well as fascinating viewing in this Lockdown, even here in South Africa, where we are once again part of the Commonwealth. We were a Union of the Empire when I was born, and I remember how proud we were that the "sun never set on the British Empire". We got Coronation Mugs at school when I was little. My Granny cried when Queen Mary died. God save the Queen.

    These episodes are fascinating being told by Prince Edward who is very well informed and presents very well.
    I note the old stories about problems producing heirs, the ladies didn’t have smooth pregnancies and births. Some were in question! It’s very strange to me that there are now questions around some royal births.

    Wolsey failed to secure a divorce from Catherine, and the king called that treason. Why don't they just say that??

    • @juanitarichards1074
      @juanitarichards1074 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The king also found out that Wolsey was secretly supporting and negotiating with the French and was trying to sabotage a treaty and friendship with the Emperor .......Wolsey hated the Emperor and Katherine of Aragon and it was Wolsey who put into the kings head that his marriage to Katherine was not legitimate and Henry went along with it. Wolsey proposed a French royal marriage for the king and Henry agreed to that too, once he secured an annulment from Katherine, which would have been easier at that time, depending which Pope was in power. But alas while Wolsey was away in France looking for a French bride for Henry, the king fell in love with Anne Boleyn and now didn't want the French marriage . Wolsey was devastated. All his machinations and negotiations with the French king........Wolsey was humiliated and shown to be not as powerful and in control as everyone thought he was.

He has ideas of slimming down the Monarchy which should make you anti royalists very happy. His ideas on medicine and religion are a little wonky, but oh well.
