It looks like the chicory overtook the clovers, except where you overseeded the clovers later. Do you think the 60/40 are good percentages or do you think it could use more clovers?
Its a bit thick to overseed rye in with any kind of success, but yes I did mow it during the first year to set back weeds & grasses. However, I do overseed my brassica & soybean plots each September with rye.
Jake, your 360 looks phenomenal...thanks for sharing. Bob
Very nice. That plot is killer.
I agree Kurt!!
Thanks for the video this day, Jake. Always interesting to view. See you on the next! 🙂👍🇺🇸

What's your opinion on adding oats as a cover crop with the spring planting? Thanks for the great educational videos.
Oats as a nurse crop can really be beneficial especially when you have a high deer density.
@@habitatsolutions360llc3 is there a certain kind of oat you want to use for a cover crop?
@@chadilacnissen9717 I normally use spring oats sometimes reffered to as "Jerry" oats that I by at the local grain elevator.
Favorite videos on TH-cam!!!! How’s that no till drill working for you??
Thanks Aaron, its working pretty good, Ill do a video update once the growth progresses more.
Great video. How big was your plot? Do you guess planting rye furing the fall so there is food in late November?
The plot is about 1.6 acres +/-
What about adding rye in fall to that mix then mowing that off in late spring ? Think that would Give some more tonage later into seaon maybe ??

I personaly really like the high percentage chicory, the areas I over seeded with straight clovers are areas I missed when I first planted the plot.
@habitatsolutions360llc3 I would think the clovers would help provide N to the chicory...but the chicory looks healthy as if it has what it needs.
Do you ever mow?? Or add rye wheat in fall??
