I am proud to call Tony a friend and happy he becomes part of our family when he visits Eagle Point Oregon. We can't wait for him to come our way again. Thank you to everyone that post about how his journeys have crossed their path and impacted their way of living and thinking.
He is certainly a remarkable man.
Dean, Charli and the boys can't wait to see you again.

Glad to hear he's still out there doing his thing. I actually saw him a second time last summer when he was passing through again. Completely by chance, as he was taking a slightly different route, but he passed right by my house this time. Cool guy, Tony is!

I met Tony on the side of I 84 about 15 miles south of Boise ID in May of 2018. I was leaving, and he was heading into town and I noticed his interesting ride. I u-turned and rode up to him, and we chatted for about 20 minutes on the side of the Interstate. What an interesting guy. I flipped him a $20 and wished him safe travels. I left a more enlightened person than before we met.

On his third trip through Indiana, 52-year-old cyclist Tony Adams stopped for his first visit to Angola Tuesday and Wednesday.
He took some downtime to do laundry, purchase a replacement solar panel for one that’s cracked and to go to the store for some essentials.
From here, he’s on his way to Bryan, Ohio, and then several states east, some of which he’s never visited.
“I get to see things one wouldn’t see in a vehicle,” Adams said. His adventuring across the country has been his life for the last 17 years, 10 of which were spent sleeping in a tent he carried with him.
Adams began cycling when his father was dying.
His father wanted Tony to find his older brother and bring him home so the two could make amends before he passed away.
Tony set off on a 10-speed bicycle from his home in Oregon to Las Vegas to find his brother, who was living on the streets. He knew he’d need directions to the shelter and tapped a man on the shoulder to ask.
Fate had its way, according to his mother, Emma, because the man was his brother. It took four months of convincing, but Tony got his brother home to see their father before he passed away.
That journey was over, but Tony’s journey had just begun.
He later purchased a Bob Yak bicycle trailer and set off again on his 10-speed headed from Colorado to Niagara Falls, New York. In four months, he rode a total of 20 states.
He bought a different trailer, which is his home, in 2011 and has given it five makeovers since the last being over the winter. He put the aluminium top on it a year and a half ago while at home in Oregon using metal he bought for $54 at a steel yard.
A jack of all trades, thanks to his time working with the carnival, he has done all of the work himself, including the electric wiring that runs to the battery and solar panels he uses for electricity to run his small, recycled computer fans and a small television.
Much of what he has was found on the side of roads while travelling, including the bags he keeps most of his gear in and the American flag flying from a pole on his trailer.
He has a newspaper from July 29, 1940, he found in the rafters of a home he worked on in Colorado that he carries with him and articles published about his 17 years on the road.
He gladly accepts donations but is more than happy to work for them, which he enjoys doing because he said he’s not looking for “the gimmie.”
“I have six tires on the ground and five spares, all donated, that I’ll reuse as much as I can,” Adams said. He bought his current tricycle in 2005 in Colorado.
While travelling through Indiana, he met some Amish who gave him a glass of water, a loaf of bread, some homemade peanut butter, and their business card. He said he’ll contact them for more when he’s in his home in Oregon because the peanut butter is that delicious.
He frequently parks his rig to get his rest on highway easements or Walmart parking lots, being careful to stay in the public right-of-way and off private property unless he has permission.
“I’m traveling across the U.S. and I want my 10 hours downtime to cook, make my coffee and get some sleep,” he said. He can do anywhere from nine to 11 hours a day riding, pulling the over 600-pound load. He said the saying, “miles to go before I sleep, " holds true for him.
Tony said being in the same town day in and day out, seeing the same people and dealing with the drama that many consider a traditional life wouldn’t sit well with him. He’ll be doing what he’s doing now for the rest of his life. He’s never had a wife, kids, a car or a driver’s license.
“I’m searching for answers to questions people haven’t yet asked,” he said. “I want to see what’s around the next bend, what the next person down the road says about what I’m doing.”
He said there’s no way to follow him on social media, as he doesn’t use any.
“Just google ‘Tony Adams cycling’ and you’ll be able to find the articles written about me,” he said. “That’s how some keep track of what I’m doing.”
