just cruising the internet to see what the dead were doing these days and found THIS! Never even heard of the Disco Biscuits before. I'm soooooo glad I found this show. December 2014, close to Christmas, first time hearing these guys. Now it's Christmas 2015, I've seen over 100 of these shows on u tube and have an ipod full of disco biscuits shows. I get bored with the music out there these days. These guys renewed my current state of mind. Love 'em. I'm big into the dead. Can't find any other music that truly "wows" me. Now I have. Now it's like Christmas morning every time I hear disco biscuits. These guys are fucking awesome! Plus I can listen to them around my kids, and they don't roll their eyes at me when I do. Groooovy!
+DoubleRubberbands there's just so much... they're known mainly for their lvie shows. Some shows to check out with their old drummer would be 9/1/01 and Haymaker shows. For 2.0 some of my personal favorites are 6/25/09, 4/11/08, 2/17/07
+Harrison Waxenberg I think Barber played at the speed of light in '07. Disco Biscuits archive has downloadable shows for my iPod. I'm very picky about music. These guys provide raw talent, original sound, and basically put beautiful layers upon layers of sound into the air. I think I'll be jamming some biscuits 'til I'm old and grey. 1/2 way there now. (~};)
i know how you feel. the only "new(ish)" music i like has been been be ween (everything they've done - particularly their early stuff) and jack white's stuff.
I was here until about 1am on Sunday morn. at which time the wife and I decided it was a great day but time to hit the road (1 hour drive). I was sorry to miss DB with Kreutzman and Hart. Thanks for sharing. Super "Eyes" and "Shakedown" jams .
I went to this vibes with a date at the time. She couldn’t hang, kept wanting to leave all day, but I was staying for the biscuits no matter what. She left before WSP, maybe got a cab back to Hartford. Never spoke to her after that 😂😂
I thought it was the best post-Jerry Grateful Dead set I've seen. Saturday, August 2, 2014, The Disco Biscuits, Gathering of the Vibes, Bridgeport, CT Story Of The World*> I Don’t Want Nobody to Give Me Nothing^> Confrontation#, Home Again^^> West L.A. Fadeaway^^, I Know You Rider^^, Eyes of the World^^%,, That’s It For The Other One^^> Shakedown Street^^> Viola Lee Blues^^, I-Man^^ Enc: And We Bid You Goodnight^^ (*) unfinished (#) end (^) with guest vocalist (^^) with Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann on percussion (%) with Trucker’s Choice teases
A set with West LA Fadeaway and Eyes of the World are a-OK in my book. I think people expect studio quality but don't really know that the music was written in a time where things were vastly different than they are now and it's imperative to capture that aspect of the music as best you can. Read 'Dark Star' or something, get an idea of the history of the Grateful Dead and their surroundings instead of offering 23 y.o. college kid commentary on a band many people followed since before you were born. To a lot of us this is very uplifting.
The set really finds itself during Eyes. Although the Biscuits aren't ones to conform to what covering the Grateful Dead should sound like, Barber is actually a quality modern representation of Jerry's guitar style and Magner would be the last person in the world I'd consider to sing a Jerry tune but it works.
Not to be THAT guy but....thanks for holding those ridiculous poles up the entire show to obstruct the view. Real genius. Let your friends get lost in the future. It's ok. They'll be fine and probably have a better time exploring the festival grounds.
The issue isn't so much the obstructed view (though that is annoying for sure), but reflecting on what it means for society that this many people would behave so selfishly and without repercussion.
I'd rather listen to Time Turns Elastic... I had high hopes for this one. The Thursday show in DC was much stronger. Sadly tDB drops the ball when they have big opportunities pretty often. Same as it ever was.
Lay off the vocals, people... you won't find most jam singers staring on Broadway, and that's not why we listen anyway. This is absolute abstract art! I prefer this to widespread for sure!
Definitely a great show, but as usual with this band, their vocals are terrible (here's looking at you, Aron. Of all songs you could have sang/ruined, WHY EYES??). And before you guys go trashing on me for ripping on their horrible vocals, know that I am a long time Biscuits fan. I've been listening to them for about 15 years and have seen them 40+ times. I love this band and their style, just not their vocals. I'm sure many would agree. Biscuits have always been more about the music and improvisation than the vocals, and I'm perfectly fine with them keeping the vocal sections short and the jams long and intense. And to all you people ripping on Phish, know that they are big influences on Bisco. The guys in the Biscuits are still Phish heads. I've seen them at many shows (particularly Barber and Brownie). Both are great bands in their own ways.
I've listened to Dead & Phish most of my life, so I've learned to live with crappy vocals because the jammy parts are worth it. Hell, when I hear a perfectly sung cover version, it throws me off.
@@nichlasbabb6048 box of rain is his own creation and he's never been able to carry the tune which is why I always enjoyed people telling me: " Do you know Phil has perfect pitch man?" 😏
Lol, I would have agreed. But they just played 3 really good shows this month. And the show at the capitol this past Saturday is as good as any 09 stuff. Can't believe I just said / typed that but its true
unfortunately gonna have to say this was the worst biscuits show i've ever been, also some of the worst dead covers i've seen, also some of the worst headlining at vibes i've ever seen. the 'i bid you goodnight' topped it off, literally sucking the poo out of my butt

What would you recommend out of their catolog?

+wangson Disco Biscuits, Grateful Dead, Mescalito, is definitely a well balanced diet! Just had to throw that one out there. (~};}
I almost cried tears of joy. They absolutely blew me away. My only wish is that they played longer into the night!

GIANT sts9 fan here, this shit crushes....
btw the guest vocalist during "I Don't Want Nobody" name is Greg Sherrod. He killed that shit
MK DEVO LIVES

And come on, man... bring the vibes back someday!

with, or with out you probably wouldn't see much anyways
The issue isn't so much the obstructed view (though that is annoying for sure), but reflecting on what it means for society that this many people would behave so selfishly and without repercussion.
Its called a rage stick brah and its bisco surprised theres not more
Drum Bo there are more rage sticks in this video than at every camp bisco combined. Blame connecticut.
Compared to other fest at the time this was not that bad lol ,it clam down since then now with rage sticks
"The other One" 1:08:00
Rank order, abridged version: 1) Lasers 2) Instruments... 420) Vocals
what's not to like ?
fun fun fun !
BIIIIIISSSSCUIIIIITTTTTTTTSSSSSSS
i just want to download the shakedown street from this. can anyone help me out?
Grateful Biscuits.🎧
Barber sounds awesome on eyes ..
anyone have an extra for Red Rocks?
I'd rather listen to Time Turns Elastic... I had high hopes for this one. The Thursday show in DC was much stronger. Sadly tDB drops the ball when they have big opportunities pretty often. Same as it ever was.
JESUS AYCH Lenny is anything but mainstream
settle down lenny
WHY ARE ALL PHISH FANS SUCH FUCKING ASS HOLE PRICKS. PHISH SUCKS, YOU LITTLE FUCKING BITCH BOY
It's still cool to shit on the Biscuits? I wasn't aware...
Time turns elastic is an excellent composed piece of music
Who is singing on "I Don't Want Nobody to Give Me Nothing"?
Greg Sherrod
Greg Sherrod is such a great talent!
@@egentrywee where and who is Greg Sherrod?
I would have liked them to bring out brendon bayliss to sing some dead songs.. Imo his voice is more accommodating to jerry's
54 mins in, yea much better than the dc show i watched thursday night..
31:40 DIRTTYY ;) 🎵🔥💃⚡️🌹🎶🌹⚡️🕺🏼🔥🎵
lyrical depth of a Puddle = Disco Biscuits
good eyes
😍🌹
Hell yeah! Is the Kung Fu set coming next?
Lay off the vocals, people... you won't find most jam singers staring on Broadway, and that's not why we listen anyway. This is absolute abstract art! I prefer this to widespread for sure!
And that was the end of Vibes :(
There was one more year.
I love it when people bitch. The best part is that 99% of them don't play anything but their computer keyboard. Play something before you bitch.
dude seriously who told them to sing?
my friends and i fell asleep during shakedown street...first and last time seeing the disco biscuits
+Mark Koz that was the ketamine, bro
Mark Koz lmfao!!! U schooled that dude
I fell asleep during Moe. the next day it was the ketamine.
Lame 4 ya would have gladly sat in 4 ya!!!
Jam at 5:03, barber shredssss

Have you ever heard Phil Lesh sing Eyes? Love the man, but talk about ruining a song!
I've listened to Dead & Phish most of my life, so I've learned to live with crappy vocals because the jammy parts are worth it. Hell, when I hear a perfectly sung cover version, it throws me off.
@@nichlasbabb6048 box of rain is his own creation and he's never been able to carry the tune which is why I always enjoyed people telling me: " Do you know Phil has perfect pitch man?" 😏
vocals or no vocals, this is boring af
if you already know them you know their vocals suck. so why talk about it
The 1970s belonged to the dead. The 1990s belonged to phish. And the 2010s belong to disco biscuits!
To bad they peaked 5 years ago.
"cough" widespread panic "cough cough"
LOLOLOLOLOL
They peaked a long time ago.
Lol, I would have agreed. But they just played 3 really good shows this month. And the show at the capitol this past Saturday is as good as any 09 stuff. Can't believe I just said / typed that but its true
ouch
the crowd should have sang
I have to be that guy too. Those poles are soooo annoying. It really ruined the moment for me. Have some respect. Thanks for uploading
the dude singing sounds like brent
Not even
lol, taking away the biscuits drummer is liking taking away the engine of a vehicle
Oy Mickey. Fromage. Can you play a kick drum?
Damn, Barber' voice is just awful. I have never heard anyone butcher the dead's vocals that bad ever. That includes bar bands.
lol yeah... true but no body listens to bisco for the vocals
Apparently the band plays lackluster, its NOT hard to play as well as this band: and don't forget they threaten their fans with violence.. ;)
Threaten their fans with violence?
nonstop
they are going to hell
EVERY FAN OF THE DISCO BISCUITS HAS THEIR INFORMATION SOLD TO THE MAFIA TO PAY THE BANDS MORTGAGE
Where are you getting this shit?
Barber is the absolute worst vocalist...Hearing him sing West LA Fadeaway is painful.
Haha youre right... But why dd they sound sooo good when i was there? Ohh yeaa 😎
Chris Smith yeah dude Wtf is this lol, its a dirty ass version instrumentally, vocally. sounds wonky. underwater slumpsound
Don't take any credit from Magner, his voice is just as terribly painful as Barber. I just don't understand who told these guys to sing.
Chris Smith Lol Jerry wasn't exactly a Pavarotti either.
This is not a band you listen to for vocals ... just saying.
Yikes.
they cant sing but whatever
unfortunately gonna have to say this was the worst biscuits show i've ever been, also some of the worst dead covers i've seen, also some of the worst headlining at vibes i've ever seen. the 'i bid you goodnight' topped it off, literally sucking the poo out of my butt
