My mother did this to me and it was a double edged sword. One one hand she silenced and invalidated me and my voice One the other hand she wondered why I wasn’t a doting source of supply, very crazymaking..
One thing my grandiose narcissist father often did to me when I was little was he'd goad me until I cried and then goad me for crying. He would yell "Why aren't you crying yet?" and the moment I start crying switch to "Why are you crying?" and smack me. I thought he was crazy. I hated the violence and the sudden yelling, but I wasn't really afraid of what he could do to me because I'd realized his threats were empty and he didn't pay enough attention to his surroundings to follow through with them. I think the thing that always helps when dealing with narcissists is to hang on to your reality no matter what. The narcissist can't touch that because that's what he has to look away from at all cost.
I'm so sorry you had such a disgusting criminally abusive parasite for a father if id been there I would have defended you & cut him down to size. I hope you are at peace & in a productive happy challenging healthy & loved place in your life.
The work one hit me good I am constantly told we can’t afford this or that while she is spending money on things she wants. So I work more hours to lessen the financial load and then told I am never home with the family. 😢

I would appreciate when you are addressing a topic and giving examples of what the narcissist says and does regarding the topic, that you would also articulate the best responses that we can reply with to the narcissist making them realize that they can’t get away with this kind of irrational treatment. I apologised for liking the photo of an athlete in a bikini in a post about her getting over an injury! Despite the fact that she was constantly putting on Instagram her exotic pole dancing videos. When I apologised she said it was not sincere enough. I said “ look it’s not like I’ve killed your hamster”. She would always get very annoyed and say “what does that even mean”.
oh yes my ex loved this shit i was working 18 hours a day 70 hours a week and she would tell me im not working enough and needed another job on the weekends then i would do that and she would say your never home and when you are home all you want to do is sleep LOLOLOLL
