Awesome video thanks for sharing.. didnt know if i could be stuffed trying to figure out how to neatly route the cables in my ranger but much more confident after seeing this.. still think it'll take a few hrs but i figure I'll try copy yours. Great job
Great Video showing that you don’t need a vehicle-specific or prewired harness to install the TowPro Elite V3 12. It is very annoying that RedArc recommend a minimum 3mm^2 30A cable for Live and Brake Control and Narva only sell 2.9mm^2 25A and 4.58mm^2 50A. You did the right thing using the heavier gauge wire, but it isn’t enquired for the Earth and Brake Light Signal. Some vehicle/trailer combinations will require a Diode from the vehicles brake signal to prevent any interference to Driver Assistance like Hill Assist, Autonomous Braking Systems, ABS or Cruise Control. Some off-roaders recommend crimping, rather than splicing and soldering, but the best solution is a straight run from terminal to terminal.
Useful video we have to do with with our new Fortuner, hopefully somewhat similar. Have done this before years ago but I tapped into the brake signal in the dash which was a huge pain.. doing it at the trailer plug end seems so much easier. Thanks for the video.
Installed one on our LX570 earlier this year. It has been fantastic!! Love your step by step video, great work!
Great video. Simple. Clear. Got mine done in about 4 hours I reckon.
Velcro mount is absolute genius !
You explained it really well giving me enough confidence to have a go myself.
