Informative, fast, no bullshit. Thanks for the awesome video. I knew how to recharge AC just needed to know where to look on an Escape. I appreciate your accuracy and brevity.
This is my first time doing car repairs on my escape since my grandpa died. I bet he’s laughing at me in heaven. I wish I would’ve paid attention when he was trying to teach me how to fix my car now
@@DirtRoadAutoRepair thank you! I used your video and the refrigerant is full but my car is still practically an oven and isn’t blowing cold air at all so I think it’s a problem that I have to go to a professional about 😭
My dad is having AC problems in his 2012 escape. I just sent to Walmart to get a can and I’d find a video on TH-cam how to try and fix the problem. I’ll comment again once he gets back.
Its more than likely a bad leak check all the hoses and there's a dye you can get for detecting leaks but you'll need some sort of light to see the dye and if there's not leaks from the condenser or the hoses it's more than likely either bad climate control cluster which is the nobs to your heat and AC or the worse case, it's the AC compresser and yes im in the same boat I have a 2010 escape I've had to replace the starter, the AC condenser, and the motor, and now possibly the catalytic converter and I lost AC and I lost 1, 2, and 3 settings on my heat and AC so my hope is it just needs recharged but I'm thinking it's the climate control cluster or the compresser and if it's a compresser then I guess I won't have AC lol because they are expensive to fix unless you know someone.
Many question do I hold the trigger the hole time..or while doing it..not to clear on that part..when I watch the gage do I still hold the trigger key elements my guy
2-3 8oz cans. If it is at completely zero you have a hole somewhere and it will leak out again. Also make sure you don’t over fill it. When the gauge is mid way through the green you’re good.
That’s odd. This is purely a guess but your compressor may have sized up. With the engine turned off, you could take off the belt, jump the ac clutch relay and try to turn the compressor by hand.
@@DirtRoadAutoRepair Ok, and TY for that info, as that explains why, but never assume every viewer knows that. When I do a YT search for info on my vehicle, I always input the year, make, model and engine, just as auto parts sites prompt you for.

No problem. 👍🏼 Those long videos for simple jobs are annoying lol
I did exactly as you show in the video and my Escape is freezing cold once again!!!!!! Thank you so very much!!!!
Excellent!👍🏼

Also to add, can I do this if my engine is still hot?
Yes you can do it with the engine hot, but careful of the radiator fan and hot exhaust and engine parts.

@@FriendsFurever yeah sounds like you compressor might be bad.
I've done this a long time ago to a Chrysler I had what was scared to do it on this Ford thank you for your video I knocked it out the park!
Glad to hear that! 👍🏼
Amazing video!, im the kind of guy who knows where the gas, oil and windshield fluid goes, and this video was super helpful, thank you kindly 😊🙌
No problem at all. 👍🏼
After about 20 videos this is the best for a 2012 escape
Thank you!
Worked great on my '11 Escape! I wrote LP on the low pressure pipe in permanent marker because I always forget 😉 Big thankya Sai!
No problem 👍🏼
You saved my day, brother!!! I felt like I was cooking in my car lol.
No problem!
Love the straight to the point videos! Worked like a charm, thank you!

Thanks for this great video, very helpful and straight to the point.

I'd love to still see the end.Like the last 30 seconds before completion
Me too, like, when do you disconnect and shut off.
To the point. Informative. Good video, thank you.
Thanks!
Thanks alot, right to the point. Many thanks
No problem.
Great video. But How many cans do you use? 08 Ford Escape. It is not blowing cool at all but not hot as outside
Until the needle is in the green. It depends on how low you are.
Very helpful video!! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!👍🏼
very helpful, ty

It didn’t work. Tried 2 different cans.
@@Cmcg2186 check to make sure you have 12 at the compressor clutch.

Pull the trigger while oscillating the can. When you want to check the pressure in the system to see if you’ve filled enough let go of the trigger.
Thank you so much ❤
No problem👍🏼
Freon: How do you add Freon when the compressor won't turn because of low freon?
Just start adding and the pressure in the can should eventually kick the compressor on.
Thank you
You're welcome

How many can did you put in your vehicle? I have the same vehicle as you.
It’s not about how many cans. You don’t want to over fill it. Fill it only until the needle is in the grey.
thanks
No problem
Good job,
Thanks!
Can you tell me exactly where my pcv valve is located !
I have a 2008 FEH Hybrid; I suspect the refrigerant is gone. How many cans do you think to fill it completely? What size cans?
Thanks.
2-3 8oz cans. If it is at completely zero you have a hole somewhere and it will leak out again. Also make sure you don’t over fill it. When the gauge is mid way through the green you’re good.
@@DirtRoadAutoRepair Thanks for the guidance.
Does it work on a 2018
The process is the same. Port location is going to be different. Make sure to check if it takes R134a or R1234yf.
I did this once and it’s still blowing hot, any idea what to suggest
You have a Freon leak
If you don't have a leak check the relays and the fuses that correspond to the ac clutch switch
After that check your Ac transducer switch it may have gone bad
Check to see if you hear the AC clutch kick in and engage if not I'll be a good place to start
@@HxDPYROS I appreciate you, but I gave up 2 years ago 💀
I did this on my wife's car and it's still hot, but also did on my brothers Altima and it's perfect. Any idea on how to fix? Thanks
Check to see if the compressor is running.
after using freon, my car turns off everytime i turn on the ac, any ideas?
That’s odd. This is purely a guess but your compressor may have sized up. With the engine turned off, you could take off the belt, jump the ac clutch relay and try to turn the compressor by hand.
Your compressor is probably seized. You'll need to replace a bunch of parts.
Won’t latch on
Ummmm my car just died its my moms car for work
Just tried this and the fucking can broke
Stopped watching immediately bc you didn't mention which engine.
A/C lines are in the same spot regardless of the engine, which is why I didn’t mention the engine.
