    I own my Trophy now for two and a half years and did almost 30'000 km with it. From Kroatia to Barcelona, to England, Scottland and of course in the alps of Switzerland. It is absolutely splendeous in my sight. You can ride comfortably 500kms a day, without tiring and get off without any aches. Compared with my old Paneuropean Honda, it is just ways beyond it. I can recommend this bike absolutely and I did not have any problems so far. I changed the brakes and tires. Lubricating the indicator switch is necessary, as mentioned before.

    I love my Trophy SE too . It's fast, comfy and gets over 50 mpg at 70+ mph. On regular gas!
    7 gallon tank gives huge range. I do recommend the changing the windscreen to a
    National Cycle V Stream. The stock one pushed on the back of my helmet when it was up
    high at freeway speeds. The V Stream really improved airfow up or down .Good job on your review. I agree on every point you made.
    Almost 20k miles and looking forward to the next 20k. Cheers from Texas.

    Great video & review of the Trophy! I bought my first one in 2013, not too long after they hit the showrooms. I put 53,000 miles on it in just over 4 years, and loved every minute of it. I can across a deal on a 2017 with only 1600 miles for under $11,000 (U.S.), and couldn't pass it up, as I had found out that Triumph was discontinuing the model. It was ridden prior by Triumph's regional manager, so I got the complete warranty as if I bought it with 0 miles. Still have the 2013, though (I guess I can sell it now), and have 23,000 miles on the 2017.
    I live in Southern California, and have been as far as Jasper, AB - just love it up there - all over the Colorado Rockies, Arizona & Utah. The big Triumph was made for trips like that, but works great as a daily commuter as well. You're right about the fuel economy - it's crazy for a bike that big. Also, the fact that it takes regular unleaded, makes it cost even less to run. Anyway, thanks again for taking us on a great trip with the Trophy!

      @@thetriumphknight4257 That trip was 4,000 miles in 10 days. The wife was on her Can Am Spyder, I was on the 2013. Easy peasy! Forgot to mention, though, that you're really hard on tires! I get 12,000 miles on either the Pirelli Angel GT or Michelin Pilot Road 4. Currently trying out the Dunlop Roadsmart 3, but only about 2,000 miles on them, but so far, so good. Handling is a good as the Pirellis, and better than the Michelins.

    Bought a 2013 Trophy recently. I've owned a Concours, Gold wing and yamaha vstar 1100. I love this bike! Heavy? Yes. Smooth? Yes. ITS A TRIUMPH so the Harley folks don't mind having me around. Lol 😆 I'm just a big Triumph fan! My garage now has three Triumphs.

    As a Goldwing owner, I found this review pretty good. Up for selling the wing next year and I overlooked the Trophy. Had a Triumph Sprint when I lived in the UK. Obviously the Trophy is no longer made but my wing is an 2006 so a 2014 reg would be an upgrade. I reckon the top box & panniers can hold more than a Goldwing top box & panniers by looking at them. Getting max of 330km on the wing with a 25 litre tank. Trophy? 500km possibly. As an Englishman living in Australia, maybe it's time to re fly the brit flag again.

    • @thetriumphknight4257
      @thetriumphknight4257  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The wing luggage capacity is bigger all around. But yes, you will get better distance on the Trophy. The Trophy is quicker and way more nimble. I loved my 2008 wing though....but I would go back now.

    Hey,
    Thanks for the review, very informative.
    I'm going to be buying a bike in May and was seriously considering the FJR. Looked at Hondas, Kwaks, etc, and felt the FJR was the bike for me. To be honest, I didn't even know the TT existed! Came across it by accident while reading a review on the FJR, as a possible alternative to the Yam.
    The Triumph is a cheaper second-hand purchase but appears to be just as good, if not better than the Yamaha. Fuel economy, electronics package, comfort, etc, are all superior to the Yam, and it's a proven, bullet-proof piece of kit. Yes, it's 15 to 20mph slower than the Yam but there's nowhere in the UK you can achieve that kind of speed, anyway. And if you are, you've bought the wrong type of bike!
    My budget is £5.5k and for that, I was looking at a 2009 Yam with 20,000 miles on the clock. But I can get a 2013 Trophy with the same mileage, but all the toys.
    I live in Hereford, England, and Wales is right on my doorstep, with some of the best biking roads in the UK and incredible views. Also, both my boys live 100+ miles away, so the TT will easily and comfortably whisk me to their parts of the UK with ease.
    Thanks for your review. It's very useful for potential buyers to have this type of information as it takes a lot of the guesswork out of you buying your next bike and separating with several thousand £'s, $'s, etc, of your hard-earned cash.
    All the best 👍🏻

    Was hoping honda would bring the NT1100 but honda dealers do not want to carry it as it may hurt the sale of the super bikes. Who would ride a super bike for 300 miles. Then it may hurt Goldwing sales. Super bikes sales go to the 35 year olds and Goldwing to vary rich old boys. Found a 2014 Triumph Trophy 23000 miles bright blue for $6200 all luggage new front tire not mounted. Has a kit to mount belt drive and driving lights. Thanks for the review. Was at a gas station and a bunch of Harleys pull in and hassled for not getting a Harley. In 2013 Harley riders burned my BMW R1150 gs at a rural gas stop in Nevada.

    Hi, enjoying the review and the run,, i have the K1600 and bought second hand. It is a lovely ride too with definitely an extra edge in performance and sport capability, however there is a payback in overall cost. So the thing that made me buy this bike over yours was the tactile feel and sturdiness of the fairing, castings and fixtures when I poked around the models I looked at.. So now I’ve said that... I can use less weight and power than the K offers now. I remove the cases for my sporty runs but there is still too much power to just fully exploit on my Scottish country trips so Im going to downsize a bit. Hence my appreciation of your experience and really enjoyed you down to earth common sense.. yeah and shoes by the way are costly and I’m on Bridgestone Battle-axe GT at about 6000 miles on the rear.. safe riding bro...

    great review and I totally agree. I have owned many bikes over my lifetime, including the Concourse and the Triumph is a far better all around bike. I ride from Iowa to Florida to Maine, to Utah, to Oregon and easily put on 1000 mile days at an average of around 50 mph. The fairing and windshield is far superior to the Concourse as are the radio and speed control. My other bike is an H2 for those naughty moments

    Nice to see that you still have your Trophy, mine is the same as yours same colour etc, still one of the best bikes I have ever had, no faults or anything, i have owned many bikes including the BMW tourers, RT and GT, still prefer the Triumph as it handles so much better and has proven more reliable,more economical etc. No fjr but had the Kawasaki, not well made and handles like a pig. The Pan handled really well but wobbled if the tyres were not absolutely spot on, no performance and too heavy but bomb proof build quality. I have had other bikes but the Trophy I have kept.

    I’ve had my SE since 2013 (new). Absolutely love it? It’s taken me around Europe in comfort, as well as being agile enough for some ‘spirited’ fun. The only issue is how heavy it is fully loaded when pushing it around. My Multistrada (2015) is super fun, but not such a comfy mile muncher.
    Once, after a full day on the TT in total comfort, only briefly making fuel stops, my leg ached and started to swell a bit. Visited the Doc’s. Told I had DVT. You need to take breaks and stretch ya legs (apparently).

    Quality review for sure. I am thinking about buying another bike and I have pretty much narrowed my choices down to the Trophy SE and the FJR 1300. Both are solid bikes and I am sure that I would love either one of them but it appears that the FJR requires more maintenance than the Trophy. The 16 K mile maintenance is expensive at a shop and takes many hours at home to do and riders always mention the wobble in the front end if you take your hands off the bars. Where I live in NY the closet Triumph shop is 3.5 hours away. I gotta decide on something.

    1800km on a tyre before it was worn through? That's not much at all, it must have been a soft compound tyre or it was a dud. I'm from New Zealand and the price for a good bike tyre is unbelievable. $650- 700 fitted and balanced. I had a 15 Nightrod special. I didn't have the weight of your Trumpy and would get 8000-10000kms out of a real tyre. I soon realized that I could save $200 by buying a tyre from a privateer. Harley dealerships are a big rip over here. You have a nice cycle, I nearly bought a USA imported Triumph like yours but was a 4cylinder model. For some reason it produced a lot of chain whip at slow speeds, changing down gears didn't help so I got the harley new in the crate. Are the triumph 3cylinder engines reliable? I enjoy the long rides we have a beautiful country for riding but I get knocked around by the weather. The FJ Yamaha's have a good name here also.

    Hi, great comprehensive review, as I am looking to possibly purchase one of these, your reply about the traction control being off (light on dash) in order to spin tyres, has me questioning the credibility of the review.
    Apart from the fun factor, any reason you want spinning tyres on a big tourer. I'm curious not critical.

      @thetriumphknight4257  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol....yah, I wouldn't look too deep into the spinning the tires/credibility theory....
      Simply, if you accelerate hard starting out and bring the front wheel off the ground, or break it loose at the rear tire, the traction control takes over. Its that simple.

      @kirkkw 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I have a 2017 Trophy SE and would not advise that being a first bike. None of the sport touring bikes, except maybe the BMW boxers, are good first bikes since generally they are top heavy bikes. In this I am referring to the BMW K series, FJR, Concours, ST1100 or ST1300 etc. They are all top heavy making stopping, starting, parking etc all difficult for a new rider. I think a good first good bike that could also be used for touring is the Suzuki V-strom 650. They are very versatile and you simply don't need the power of the larger version.

    • @DArceVaderBJJAimanZinbi
      @DArceVaderBJJAimanZinbi 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a really heavy bike but once the wheels are rolling it is extremely easy to handle and barely has any vibrations. I've started of with a 600cc and this is my second bike. I have to say that the height might be an issue if you're shorter than 175cm as I already have trouble getting both feet firmly on the ground in any seating position. Depending on where you live, you'll find it for relatively cheap compared to other brands. I got mine with a little less than 9000km for 6900$ (Switzerland).

      Take a look at the Sprint ST1050 for a first bike, I did. A little smaller but as a first bike you shouldn't be going 2up for a while, 200lbs lighter, same power so its good for a newbies sloppy shifting and pretty comfortable. You also get that awesome triple motor. I absolutely love it but need a little less sport and a little more comfort so I am looking at the Trophy.
