  • Checking starter voltage, starter signal wire (white wire that plugged in the back of starter solenoid) . You can see in the video that I had made a purple jumper to connect to my bolt meter. Push start button and you need to see close to 12 volts . If you don’t see 12 V . Start looking at relay or fuse .
My Issue for no start is the defective ground cable (grounding strap) from chassis to engine ground. With temporary ground cable connected from chassis to engine ground, the starter crank! Engine started !
Video part 3 will cover ground cable location on the car, and the replacement.
For engine starter replacement process and tools you need for the job, watch this video

Well it took me two days to figure this out. Such a pain isn’t.

@@maniata8869 i was off, replaced starter as it initially roll started, a stick configuration. Then checked fuses again, cags relays, battery fusible link. A BMW mechanic actually got it in 30 min, sees it a lot actually.

Now that I know. It would be the first place I would check too. BMW is nice car but high maintenance cost .

Did you just replace the white wire?

The signal wire at the starter? No. That one is okay. My issue is the ground cable (battery ground cable) connecting from chassis to engine ground. It is on passenger side behind the front wheel. It connects from chassis to engine mount. Watch my video part 3 I think with crow bar and wrench I explained how I did it. The cable is $25 from battery shop instead of dealer cable. Good luck !
