This is the first dice-making video I watched and then I watched a bunch of others, this is absolutely the best one out there! Especially for anyone who doesn't want to deal with the trouble of a pressure pot
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I wandered over 6 months how to do it and didn't buy the same molds just because of fear that I'll ruin everything. You convinced me. I can do it as well as possible! 🥰❤ +like + subscribe
Aww thank you so much I am so glad this was helpful I actually just added another video new dice mold I got and they are much more easy to work with ♥️☺️
That was another question I was wondering as well. I wish they had slowed down and actually walked us through every step because they turned out so good and I'd love to learn exactly how they did it.
I'll answer that one. Most people use Zona wet/dry sandpaper for dice. It comes in 5 or 6 different grits from course to very fine. You work your way down to the finest.@@queenbee8235
Just a question, don’t have any acrylic paint as I prefer using gouche and when I do my resin dice I use black paint marker to fill it in and whilst wet use mica powder on top but that’s a lot of hassle and id prefer if I could just use quache in same way you used your paint?
@@teaandart okey thx been using some anyways and they have worked fine however the More pigment I put in or the darker the colour it just means I have to cure it longer or maybe do it it layers witch is no problem.
I prefer to use Citadel's miniature paint. I apply it to the number and immediately wipe off the access paint before it sets. Citadel paints are very pigmented and lightweight.
hmm somewho I cant fill in the rest because the resin just get stuck at the tiny whole. If I try to pierce trough it it just gets stuck again. Has anyone some tips? also how do you maange to get that lit on so smoothly xD Its a complete mess when I try it.
@@teaandart Cool! Just had a look through your channel & it strikes me you should looks at Fluid Art using acrylics, if you haven't already, I think you'll enjoy it!
Just when I thought.... nah I don't need another hobby! I have micas glitters, alcohol inks and acrylic paints... I just need molds, white dye and resin... and wet sand paper. That isn't much right? LOL
Do you use a pressure pot or just let them sit and cure? I'd like to start getting into dice making but i'm not sure the best way to do so without bubbles and without a pressure pot.
Kaitlyn Pierce has a few great tutorials on how to reduce bubbles in resin. Your choice of resin makes a big difference. The molds shown here are not compatible with a pressure pot I don't think, but you still get some very decent results!
Is it possible to get started making your own dice for building a business? I really want to create my own dice for my own use, but I’m currently building other TTRPG products such as adventures and the like - meaning I may want to offer dice in the future and other accessories too. What do you think?
Hi it don't sound dumb I have few videos where I show different details. Sometimes I do get comments where people tell me not to show the whole process and waste there time 🤷 so then I skip. It's very light layer of resin usually I stick with sanding and then polishing only.
Questions from a newbie with this set: 1. The side with the lid always has a dip in it. How do you avoid that? 2. My sets have come out sticky after the curing time, is this also avoidable because I can’t seem to set them down anywhere without having an issue pulling them back off?
I think that's what the warm water is for as I have the same problem. Gets rid of the bu bless that rise to the bubbles that rise to the top and cause it I hope!
Just some advice. 1. You don't have to fully paint the dice. Just mix a slight amount of water with the paint to thin it slightly and dab the paint over the numbers and wipe away with your fingers or cloth. That leaves the paint just in the numbers and you waste a lot less paint and not make such a huge mess, if there is any traces of paint left over a little bit of alcohol once it all dries will clean it up. 2. I would highly recommend avoiding these molds. There's a shady history with them. Long story short someone branding themselves as 'Dispel Dice' ran a kickstarter for 'hand made dice' that had this exact look. The hand made part was a lie, they actually outsourced their dice to a china company IceDice and than tried to scam them by refusing to pay for over 21k sets of dice. Backers of the kickstarter never got their products, and due to the non payment and IceDice coming forward this whole thing came to light. 'Dispel Dice' is now trying to rebrand under a new name to try and sweep under the rug of them pretty much scamming a bunch of people. IceDice cut their loses by selling off their remaining supply of dice they still had as well as the molds that you are using (the whole set can be gotten for 91 cents), that are actually meant to be placed in a machine that compress's UV resin and the materials inside thus why they can be so hard to use otherwise. Yes sadly, due to the molds cheep price, they have popped up in a lot of pricy kits, but just due to their history and the scam behind them, they are very frowned on in the dice making community, and even if you didn't show the molds, the number style is very distinctive of this set. Just look up 'Dispel Dice scam' and you get a long story, and seeing how IceDice has recipes, photos and other prof of their side, where Dispel Dice has none, paints a big picture. The mods are 'okay' for self use, but even then it is iffy. I started with them myself and even found a means to make them work, but once I stumbled on the story behind them I just... yeah... no. I rather not show a product that is linked to a scam and a funded kickstater that also scammed everyone who backed it.
I don't see what dice history has to do with this. Most people don't care about the background of the material of their dice as long as they are pretty and don't break when they roll or are cursed. 🤷
@@BlazeDupree1525 Well I don't know about you... but most people DO care when they are scammed out of 100's from a Kickstarter that was a lie from the get-go, having the people run off with the money, leaving one company out of their own profit, and having to make due selling off what they have and then some to make up for it. On top of knowing the people who ran this scam is still out there recently returning under another's branding, AND is still using the same design meaning they have the ground to sue for copyright as the design of the font is their own. Yes that is a thing, even Hextex the more common basic dice manufacturer out there has gone afer people for making molds and using their dice as base for profit.

Thoughts on if you could add something in the middle of the dice as a design, like small resin items?

Question: when painting the numbers, do you let the paint dry 100% before wiping the excess off?

do you need to spray anything in the molds to keep the resin from sticking?
@@Bizzurk_SD I never did spray.
How do you get the air bubbles out? you have the video sped up, but if I pause it, I can see the bubbles on the outside of the dice when showing them.

Hi! Do you have another EBay link for the molds? The one in the description doesn't work anymore :(
How long did you let them cure before putting caps on?
Hi I left it cure for 1 day.
what grade sandpaper and how again to smooth it after you sand the side? i have had dice molds for months and i cant make a decent die lol
Great results but where did you get the molds?
Hi I got them from Ebay.
I'm curious, when sanding your dice was already inked so do you sand or ink first? they turned out great mind!
Hi, thank you so much yes, it was sanded before I am getting lots of questions for this. I might do a new video on a whole an updated one.
@@teaandart Cool! Just had a look through your channel & it strikes me you should looks at Fluid Art using acrylics, if you haven't already, I think you'll enjoy it!
How long should i let them cure?
Depending on the resin, I gave them a day as I was using low viscosity .
@@teaandart I meant the first time, after you put in alcohol ink colours, how long?
@Dragon21434 This again depends on resin. You're using. I waited around 5 hours until it was touch to sticky slightly cured.

dice are awesome, only thing is a bubble (resin didn't fill every part) in the upper part of the dice, where you close the mold, how can i fix this?
How did you top coat?
I only top coat the side which was sanded with a thin layer of resin.
What do you mean by topcoat with resin at the end
I'm not sure but I just painted on a layer of resin 😂
Annoying though as idk how long a top coat would take to set
What grit was the sandpaper that you used?
tried this with 3d printing but I always struggle to fill in the numbers..how best to do that??
Hey there, beautiful dice set 😍 would it be ok to ask where you got the dice moulds set on eBay from?
