I think it should be used in schools to teach children about addiction and to parents in rehabilitation treatment to understand that no matter what they can change their life or at least make sure their children know how much they are loved and how much guilt they have. Much better of a resource than any program teaching kids that dr¥gs are bad.😢 Leanne seems so sweet and yet so strong ❤🖤

Unfortunately, I had to get a TPO since he's 6'6, over 300 pounds, and showing violent behavior, constantly talking about harming others. He's aggressive. I have had a similar experience with an addicted parent and could relate to your story, and it's hard not to become hardened and angry as my siblings have, and have compassion for your parent, even when they are deep in addiction, even when they hurt you. And you're right, it's okay to love them from afar. It's okay to love an imperfect parent, and you're right, often the hardest thing for them to do is apologize, but even the smallest apology can make a huge difference.

It’s so hard to describe the faith that you can have in someone with addiction that they are a good person. I have a friend who I met at the worst time in his life and it was a fight every day to try to “justify” any connection to him to people who only saw his poor decisions. My sister is also a recovered alcoholic so it just makes sense to me to stay in touch with your humanity while also setting boundaries. Listening to Leanna helped me feel a little more sane.

My father‘s alcoholism ruined not only his life, but it had such devastating effects on my mom, me and my other 3 siblings, each in our own way. I don’t blame him. Addiction will often take everything including your soul. I am a recovered alcoholic myself. - 38 years sober. II wish I could have come to know my father‘s heart the way you were able to with your father. I was only six when he disappeared. Later, he returned when I was 19 years old only two try to make an amends before he died within six months from cirrhosis of the liver. I’m glad Leeanne got to know her father. She’s a part of him and he’s a part of her. You’re such a strong woman. So inspirational. thank you for sharing your story.

It’s crushing to hear these stories n realizing the bullshit I put my family through with my addiction. It’s never too late to get help folks. You matter to someone. Get the help you need. Sober 5 n a half years after a 17 year addiction. It’s possible.

GOD! This hit home! I had my daughter up until summer before freshman year, I was lost in drugs and lost her. She went to live with her mother after all the years we had spent together, I let her down, she was ashamed of me and things have never been the same. She became a woman, married with children and I watched her step father walk her down the isle! I guess I deserved that one..........at least I was there I said. I love you forever honey and I'm proud of you!

I loved him deeply and was the one who held a relationship with him up until the end of his death. You have a gaurdian angle now with you forever. Thank you for sharing your story. God bless you.

Leanna you my dear are a survivor. Your life has been full of heartache but also still so full of love. You could have very easily chosen to be bitter with all you endured throughout your childhood and early adult years but u didn’t. Your resilience shines through even when your tears are falling. I wish you nothing but love and peace… you’re such a beautiful soul and deserve all things that bring joy to your heart♥️

Thank you to Leanna for sharing her story. Much appreciated Mark. 👍🇨🇦😊 I also loved my Dad very much. My Dad passed of pancreatic cancer when I was 19 years old. (Within 3 weeks of diagnosis. It was very quick. We had no time to process it all.). Unlike Leanna, I had the best life with my Mom & Dad and 2 Big Brothers. He was a great provider & role model. I just cried…listening to Leanna’s story. 💔 I don’t understand the addiction…but, I certainly resonate with loving my Dad. Wishing her all the best in her future…she’s a strong young woman. 👍😊 “My Dad was my everything” too. I totally understand the love between a daughter & her Dad. “Daddy’s Little Girl”. I will always be that. I’m also first generation Canadian. My parents were immigrants.

Great video It was a month ago when my five-year romantic life ended. I'm deeply affected by the decision to end a relationship with the person I love. I have tried everything to win him back, even if it has been in vain, and I can't picture my life without him. I've done my best to avoid thinking about him, yet I still find myself missing him and thinking about him frequently. Why I am stating this here is beyond me.

Since my 12-year relationship ended, I know how hard it is to say goodbye to someone you love.
But I couldn't just let him go, so l did everything i could to win him back. I finally went to a spiritual counsellor for guidance, and he helped me win back his love.

Awwhh Leanna, you’re such a sweet young woman and your story resonated with me. A lot of kids grow up in families where addiction is prevalent but unless you’re one of those kids, most wouldn’t understand! They’re still your parents, addicted or not, you’ll always love them and want to protect them. I understand 100%! Children of addicts are loyal, strong and survivors ! Thank you for sharing! You’re an inspiration to a lot of kids! You will give them hope and they can see by your story, they do not have to continue the pattern of abuse, neglect and addiction! You, despite all odds, were able to be a productive member of society, with college education! ! What an incredible daughter and human being! You’re a loving person and despite the addiction your Mom and Dad had, it doesn’t take away from the loving and wonderful parents that wanted the very best for you! No doubt you and your Dad share a special bond! Congratulations on overcoming a lot of hurdles and not allowing any of it to slow you down or stop you from doing your very best! 😊 I absolutely loved you Dad’s letter! Brought tears to my eyes!😊

As I listened to your story it reminded me of these verses “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.”

I lost my father almost two years ago the same way and I wish I was half as good of a kid to my father as she was to hers. I have no words. This someone who can say they went above and beyond and did everything in their power to do what they had to in order to hold on to a relationship with a parent. She’s going to do amazing things with her life with a heart like that.
