Brilliant! I use Komoot in the UK and love it. What a brilliant app. Why people pay crazy sums of money for those 'cycle computers' which are tiny and damned fiddly, is a mystery to me. On your phone, in a weatherproof handlebar mounted case, there you have a nice big map to follow and a nice lady who tells you to "Turn right now!" It has given me confidence especially abroad and planning routes is a real joy. Thanks very much for this tutorial.
Hello Howard, thanks for your comment! I realy love to work with Komoot for route design or navigation. I just need a smartphone for navigation, pictures or to call friends. All in one. I am really busy but i am looking forward to expand my Komoot tutorials. Regards Thomas
Oh, i just make tutorials and hiking videos. Komoot is not my company. The german videos are made for visitors of Harzer-Bergwald.de There are 60 hiking tours, all provided with a Komoot map. So i thought a series of tutorials would be helpfull for my visitors.
I recently purchased the software and tried it out yesterday. I admit I'm guilty of not studying any tutorial and tried it out and boy was I in for headache (nobody's fault but mine). Any my question is when I'm heading forward on the bike the arrow is showing it in another direction which I have to translate in my head if I need to take the left or right which can be confusing. Is there anyway I can have the arrow pointing in the direction I'm heading? I'm still trying to figure if I need to configure this out.
Hi Phil John, i recommend to store only maps you need for your next trip or tour. World map has a huge size. Storing regions or setting tours offline takes just a few seconds or minutes. It depends on your internet connection. If you dont need the stored region or tour after the trip just use the slider again to reverse offline setting. Thomas
Do you represent KOMOOT? I would like to be able to label Waypoints as WATER or FOOD etc. Komoot requires me to add WAYPOINTS to stay on bike paths even after changing from Bike Touring to Alpine or MTB for example. I have a lot of Waypoints that are meaningless just to force the route to bike paths The maps are less than desirable...the highways are not numbered and difficult to follow. Maps do not show very much detail of some towns. It would be desired to have maps show camping sites or grocery stores while route planning.
@@pppjourneyonabike5992 i do not represent Komoot. I am user like you. My experience is about 5 years. To label your waypoint i recommend you to use own highlights. Label this highlights with i.e. foodstore, fountain or what ever. You are able to set highlights when you have been at this place. So use a GPX file to upload a "finished" track(you can also use a GPX-file of a planned tour). Than you can create highlights at this tour. After saving the tour you can delete the tour. Your new highlights will still existing. Now you can use this highlights to create your tour with own WP`s. Sorry, it isn't that easy way you are looking for ;) The map is using OSM as base. Maybee Komoot isn't finished yet in the US. For showing camping sites and so on go to your route planner search box. Click on it and then you can show places in the map by checking that kind of places you are looking for. They will be hooked and shown on the map. I expect the same as by the highway numbers for US. Best regards Thomas

For example:
