  • In this video, i teardown a 4cyl Honda Accord Trans called B90A. This had a very bad 1-2 shift and found the 2nd clutches, steels, piston and cushion to be bad. This is the typical 4cyl Honda transmission where 2nd gear is fed through a sleeve that has to be perfect with no ring grooves, rest of the trans was not in bad shape. Thanks for watching, Happy New Year to all.

    Gary being a retired aircraft mechanic I’m very impressed by the way you work and how you layout everything as you take it apart. Very much the way I would work in tearing something down. Very impressed. Would love to see the odyssey tear down if you have one. Would just like to see what’s inside and what normally goes bad.. nice workmanship. I like to know what I have how it works and what usually goes bad. Thanks for sharing all of your knowledge and stay safe and well Artie 👍

    Another interesting and well explained video Gary. It might be nice to add the mileage to you other info. like vehicle and transmission type. I guess the transmission case doubles as the pan?

    Hi Gary, playing catchup as usual lately. I am an avid follower of your channel. I am having some trouble with your video quality and glare from your (I assume) overhead lighting. Most other channels I watch record in HD, can you tell me what quality your recording is done in? It appears to be a very low resolution. Is it possible to improve this?
    As for this Honda box, it looks like a manual box design they have tried to make into an auto.....lots of gears in it. Is this common to all Honda boxes? The JATCO boxes seem to have less parts count.

      Did you check your reverse fork selector gear position?
      If you insert the selector gear wrong position, you can select R but car doesnt move.

    Yes I did checked all the connections and I always take pictures before I take them off I also took a and b/c solenoids off and tried them on 12v battery and they click pretty strong so I’m puzzled now what else should I look for before they take back off the vehicle

      I d like to know how reliable these transmissions are.How many miles can they do without braking down, regular maintainance and a good treatening included.

    Gary, what is the purpose of the broken ring (and the similar others). Are they just used as spacers? They do not seem to locate into a groove for sealing purposes.

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you mean the split rings, used to hold gears in place, they do not seal

    What is your opinion in the new 10 speed automatic tansmission that come with the 2018 honda accord 2.0T?
    What would make an engine melt from inside in a car that has only 300 mile on it?
