Love that they are adding New Zealand animals to the game like the Kea and the Moa. The description after you kill the Moa is brutal though. "A once-extinct large predatory bird, native to New Zealand, brought back to life on Icarus through the terraforming process. And then killed again, BY YOU!" How could you Z?
The reservoir does tell you how much is in it. You just need to read... (hint: top right hand corner on the same level as 'Rain Reservoir' is written). There is quite a bit of info in the description boxes but does take more than a microsecond to find and then read!
colds = the Creeping Crud. kids are carriers! they bring everything home from school. you do need to put in the window shutters as your benches can take damage from storms if there is nothing to keep the weather from reaching them. install both the Fireplace with Chimney for sleeping & Cooking as well as the Smelter which is needed to smelt all metals. storage is critical and the Icebox is required to slow food decay. Stonework is something to get pretty fast so your base is weather proof. mining will be part of your daily grind. this goes better with friends so find and "Hire" additional Explorers as some missions are certainly better to do with support!
A drying rack is a great alternative for food but you can only put certain meat (stringy, etc.) in it and it does not require wood to cook. Also provides different food buffs than when cooked with fire.
4:30 i really want to play Icarus because of the moa now (the moa is a extinct new Zealand bird) also the only thing other than humans that actively preyed on moas where haast eagles (biggest eagle to co-exist with humans :) )
when i build a base, i always make one side into a rock, it sorta glitches the game and makes them unbreakable to storms. Youre making me want to start playing this again
When get a chance try to get stone celinings and walls and the weather doesn't damage them anymore, just the animals can keep the wood floors and pillars since they don't take damage from the weather either to save on resources. Best way to gather shrubs to get fiber can use the sickle and it doubles the amount you get also can use on food bushes also to double them also. There is also perks where you can get that can automatically grab the trees and put it into your inventory so they don't go dropping through the world.
You can actually make the stone fireplace inside and it counts for sleeping. Also, buildings don't take damage while you are away from them which is a plus.
@scott visakowitz as far as I'm aware as long as the building isn't loaded around you during a storm it shouldn't take damage anymore. I think that was something a lot of people disliked so they changed it awhile back.
If you want your wood base to take less damage, reinforce it everywhere with beams. Horizontal along the floor and roof pieces, vertical between each wall piece, diagonal between the roof pieces; basically everywhere where two pieces meet, reinforce it with beams. It strengthens your base, so it takes less damage from wind. Also, put some vertical beams around your base at least six high; they act as lightning rods, so lightning doesn't strike your base and set it on fire. For base defenses I suggest you look into the fortifications. More effective and way more impressive than the hedgehogs...
I was so happy to hear about Open World, right up to the point that I found out they were setup like Outposts ie you can only have friends in there when you are. No persistence like normal prospects.
Open world is persistent. As persistent as outposts and more persistent than missions. Unless your dictionary has another meaning for the word 'persistent'. 😉 But yeah, the owner needs to host for others to join. Just like all missions now as well. Might be different when you're running a dedicated server though...
@@GenieonWork I meant that with decentralisation now open world is only persistent if the person who started it is in game, if they aren’t, friends can’t access it
The "terror birds" are tamable (as with most baby animals). Just kill the parent and walk up to it and follow the prompt to follow you. I would recommend getting the bed and feeding trough, otherwise you won't have any luck. Then craft a saddle and ride em!!
This game interested me but seeing the whole "need tier 2 knife to skin a buffalo!" how your base disintegrates from wind and "you need a bed and a fire right next to you to be able to sleep because that's realism!" I've decided I don't want this game. So thanks for your vids you saved me some cash. I'll keep watching this series though but just no desire to play this game myself. I hope some day devs figure out that simply adding grind to a game for no reason doesn't equal fun gameplay. They make these cool looking maps with cool concepts and that all requires real talent but then "oh hey! Let's make everything as grindy as possible so people can play this game for hundreds of hours! Who cares if 95% of that time is grind!"
If you crouch you are in stealth mode and you do more damage like that like times 2 or even times 3 damage you can kill the animals and enemies much faster
Z1 there are one thing you should NEVER! feel bad about and that is surviving, even though you have to kill for survival , don't feel bad about and that!
And the winds in this game are wiping they break trees it happens where I live all the time big trees too so a shitty wood wall that isn't nailed together wouldn't even last that long in a mild wind storm
Here some information 1.) Levels don't matter. 2.) Getting the first oxidizer is a waste especially once you get the oxygen bladder and the second oxidizer. 3.) Don't get the hedgehog go for the fortifications instead
You have a xave near your home Look the lake wal on the right :p put all on deep excavation machinę on biofuel its faster and Save to get iron and gold and all close your home i have in same spot but tree dont grow Back so I cut all now xd .
Hi, I am a returning hardcore Icarus player looking for squad to play with - Missions, Open World, maybe even Outpost at some point. My characters are usually built upon movement speed and bow/arrow damage for hunting.
Pretty sure the only difference between the two is a suit from the workshop and access to an additional outpost. Neither of which is in his content so it could be either.

You can actually put a fire pit inside on the wood, it doesn’t set it on fire anymore. I’ve used it like that for a long time.
Yeah

You get more resources if you harvest with a bone knife instead of a stone knife
He was but his inventory was reset so he lost it
Z buddy, you can use the crafting bench as storage, it's very handy, have all your inventory items transferred 👍🏻

Please put shutters on your windows so as to protect your things, like your sleeping-bag, from the weather
I picture Z1 in his bedroom being eaten like a burrito by an animal coming in an open window. Lol 😆 tough game

did that change because when i played it months ago, i would come back to a base that was on fire or completely wrecked due to storm damage
@scott visakowitz as far as I'm aware as long as the building isn't loaded around you during a storm it shouldn't take damage anymore. I think that was something a lot of people disliked so they changed it awhile back.

Wonderful gameplay and excellent walkthrough of the game very cool playing keep it up good luck and good mood
love the icarus videos the comentary you do is awesome
you can tame the younger Moa bird and the younger Buffalo
I was so happy to hear about Open World, right up to the point that I found out they were setup like Outposts ie you can only have friends in there when you are. No persistence like normal prospects.
Everything is this way now with the decentralization update. You will want to setup a dedicated server. I plan to.

I wasn't expecting a re enactment on the war of the emu at the beginning 😂
KEEP THE SERIES GOING!!!
The "terror birds" are tamable (as with most baby animals). Just kill the parent and walk up to it and follow the prompt to follow you. I would recommend getting the bed and feeding trough, otherwise you won't have any luck. Then craft a saddle and ride em!!
This poor goat got slaughtered by this man he showed some emotions for moas but why not the goat killing time : 8:53
so happy your playing this again
Yes I've been waiting for another video of icarus
Bone sickle for fiber collection. You'll be suprised how much fiber the sickle collects compared to hand plucking.
I had no idea this game was so great def on my radar now because I am a big survival game fan

Very cool, was curious about the open world
Z1 there are one thing you should NEVER! feel bad about and that is surviving, even though you have to kill for survival , don't feel bad about and that!
this game looks awesome
From what I have seen the ostrich are great for getting around the map and they can jump really high
Pretty cool they added animals from Aotearoa.....Kea and Moa(extinct)
you can tell a rust player by what he calls the bed spawn. calling it a bag lol. " Bag me in" lololol Awesome vid
And the winds in this game are wiping they break trees it happens where I live all the time big trees too so a shitty wood wall that isn't nailed together wouldn't even last that long in a mild wind storm
also the base can take a lot of damage before it breaks. and it still only takes one 'wack' with the repair tool to fix each panel
This game’s got a vibe of original Rust, somehow. I think it’s the graphics
when the storms hit you can jump into the drop ship its classed as a shelter
Dude your stuff inside your hause is going to keep breaking if you don't put shutters on ur windows
Yes this is super important
Here some information 1.) Levels don't matter. 2.) Getting the first oxidizer is a waste especially once you get the oxygen bladder and the second oxidizer. 3.) Don't get the hedgehog go for the fortifications instead
this game is amazing
You have a xave near your home Look the lake wal on the right :p put all on deep excavation machinę on biofuel its faster and Save to get iron and gold and all close your home i have in same spot but tree dont grow Back so I cut all now xd .
You can swim in water to satisfy your thist btw
MOA i think i have seen this in other game
U need a skinning bench to get max fur for animals
I think you can bait wolfs by leaving dead animal bodies on the ground.
Hello from north west Arkansas :)
There’s a cave on the the other side of the lake to the east of your base
Hope you and your child gets better z
Please make a video about old rush the fame as I and many more absolutely loved the hydroneer series
feel better bro
Love it
Hi, I am a returning hardcore Icarus player looking for squad to play with - Missions, Open World, maybe even Outpost at some point. My characters are usually built upon movement speed and bow/arrow damage for hunting.
U probably should have gone for a cave base
You’re killing me. You have Windows all around your base. Might as well put a window in front of the rain reservoir instead of a door.
I literally confused the thumbnail for it being an ARK: Survival vid, why does this game look like an ARK/Rust combo
This looks stressful lol
Lotsa spaghetti
You're right
You can use your knife to kill faster and get the bones after skinning. Also build the fireplace and put your bed next to it
I'm disappointed that you didn't befriend and tame a moa baby 😔
Wet sell goon, Z.
Why move the fire closer u unlocked the fireplace why not use that
Moving the fire close would let him sleep through the night while he collects the stone needed to make the fireplace
Is this the expensive or normal Icarus version?
Pretty sure the only difference between the two is a suit from the workshop and access to an additional outpost. Neither of which is in his content so it could be either.
YOU PLAY ICRUS
did u know its multiplayer
This on console?
U can tame them ride them
(just so you know I have never played this game) why don't you put the campfire inside the house?
Never mind I just realised the house will be set on fire
U should maybe try ark survival evolved just giving you suggestions
He has done ARK a lot. Many videos on it.
@@tracehuber4609 then he could do it again many updates haw changed the gane
Pretty sure he played the last big update, Genesis. But they don't generally do well on his channel unfortunately.
I like your content but too many adds
