I actually don’t have an issue with Frida having a resentment toward David in The Ghost. The line “I thought you were supposed to be smart” is something I could see getting a *real bad* reaction from someone like Frida, especially as she’s in the middle of a crisis about her own intelligence and competence. I’ve seen friends at that age get physical for less.
Frida's crisis reminds me of what a lot of golden children go through when they grow up. I hope she doesn't develop impostor syndrome as a teen or an adult because it's common after realizing you're not as great as everyone says you are.
My favorite part of the show is how the mystical creatures are just a natural part of the world that the humans adapt to and know about. We see so often where the mystical world is "hidden" and the human world is just our world. But it is nice to see a new kind of human world that has evolved over time due to new kinds of creatures existing.
The animation is like a therapy session for a Steven Universe fan. It is so smooth and so consistent I didn’t understand how they pulled it off without looking like Foster’s Home or being entirely 3D like Dragon Prince or RWBY. I would love to see an entire movie animated like this.
Seab The Vortian THAT’S what this reminds me of!!! I watched song of the sea for the first time at the beginning of this year and when I saw this series the animation reminded me of SOMETHING but I couldn’t figure out what
Personally, I think Frida's reaction was ok. She wasn't bothered by the book or being class president, she was bothered because she was not being perfect. That's what her parents expect from her, to succeed on everything and some comments from David reminded her that she's just like other kids, which added to her frustration. It made me remember a fight I had with a friend when I was 9, we never fought before, but that day we were ready to throw hands x'DD!
I think that's the problem Frida has. I remember being told how amazing and skilled I was as a child and as I grew up I discovered the reality of my abilities and limitations. She really is like other children, but her self esteem and identity was formed by being praised for something she just happened to be talented at. When she grows up she will become a different person and that's going to be hard because she will no longer have the same source of self-worth she had as a child. That might cause Frida to develop a bit of an impostor syndrome. It can be hard realizing you're not better than other people when you've always been told how great your talents are.
I love how the show depicts its own in-universe diversity. Like, no virtue-signalling or pretentious calls for attention, just a strong, stellar and well-written cast with a diverse gallery of background characters that flows with even harmony with its world. I never even noticed the world's wide roster of different ethnicities until a few episodes in. *IT'S THAT GOOD.*
And it does so all while having a white female protagonist, showing that being female is *not* the same as being a minority, despite what the left wants you to think.
E Except that statement falls flat when you realise that women have more rights in white countries, and less in non-white countries. Just Google “Saudi Arabia” or “China” sometime and you’ll see what I’m talking about. And even this show has a white female protagonist with a token black friend and a token male friend, showing that it treats white and female as the default condition, while males and minorities are “other”. I also take issue with the OP’s statement, implying that this show somehow “normalises” being a minority race. Like, dude, the main character is white, the show treats whites as the default race, and non-whites are just treated as tokens. You’re just using this show as an excuse to virtue-signal about how this show is “so diverse”, ironically the thing you praise the show for not doing. It’s just a cute children’s show with likeable characters and well written stories, and it doesn’t need annoying lefties like you preaching your politically correct social justice agenda over it. Just let kids be kids, and don’t ruin the show for them.
Thank you for making this Video. Hilda has truly changed my life and I personally relate to David. Kinda Like how you relate to Pearl. Hilda is truly a beautiful cartoon on Netflix and is the only reason I respect them. Let me explain, Last summer I was going through a tough time with dealing with the harsh realities of the real world. Well, You see I have Asburgers Syndrome and I am cognitive behaviorally more advanced than my pears in some areas like morality but struggle with joking sarcasm, death, and juggling friendships. During this time where I was really happy I was told to check out a few Netflix Teen-Dramas Shows/Movies. That was the worst thing I have ever done. They say “THIS IS THE REAL WORLD SO GET GOOD” but Isn’t the point of entertainment is to GET AWAY from the real world and enjoy so down time: I will not list any here due to safety reasons but anyway... I miss when people love happy endings. Nowadays they are like “Realistic Endings are better.” But anyway onto the point about Hilda. Hilda is a cartoon that reminds me of a younger and happier me. It felt so beautiful for these kids to actually act like kids and not do stuff intended for teens. I love these kids and how they are so pure beans UwU. I feel like Hilda is a spiritual successor to the Saturday Morning Cartoons of the early 2000’s that I grew up with. It is so adorable. I hope you enjoy my post here is a free meme for you owo
I pretty much completely agree with this video. I also binged it in one day (yesterday to be exact) and it's the perfect cartoon if you want to relax for a day. While it is not the type of cartoon that gets me super excited like Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Star vs or Gravity Falls, it was definetely worth a watch and I really enjoyed my time with it.
I view the conflict between Freda and David as resulting of David unknowingly picking at Freda’s identity which was currently in crisis due to the messy room & stress from the election. So David wasn’t intentionally being rude by making fun of her a little bit; he didn’t realize that he was being received negatively. Freda was really hurt by his jokes because she was feeling really insecure and questioning her identity. So I think the fight is less about just stress and more about miscommunications, misunderstandings, and very sensitive egos
@@starmenslayer6949 I am glad someone else sees what I mean! Also re: spelling, I use talk to text for a lot of my comments, and that’s just how it decided to spell it lol. Sometimes I’m just not able to go back and fix spelling and I figured people would know what I meant :)

11:53 Well it's not really out of character, a lot of kids their age fight even though it's not that much of a big deal and it fits their character when Frida fights David since in The Bird Parade Frida planned on starving David.
Spoilers for season 2 The scenes that blew me away was twigs family and I was just in shock about how beautiful there home was. I also loved the episode where they looked into the elfs life (I always forget his name) like his house what it’s like and how they explained more of the elf’s. This show is a masterpiece nothing can beat it no other cartoon can beat this ( not including anime)
I'm happy I'm not the only one who felt the Gravity Falls connection, when they saw glimpses of this show. As a fantasy nerd, this show and its concept intrigues me. I look forward to seeing it, in the future. I just have one question...how is it that TV animation still dabbles in making compelling shows based on the fantasy genre (examples include Dragon Prince, Hilda, Star Vs. and the recent new anime, Goblin Slayer.) But when it comes to movies, Hollywood sees the genre as "a dying breed, like the Western genre"
I also was convinced Frida was possessed or something when she lashed out. I can understand her being upset and under pressure, but the level of hostility and physicality between her and david did seem OOC to me. But besides that, the entire series is so perfect and cozy and comforting ❤️

Seriously, I strive to be as good as TH-camrs who do reviews like this. I first saw Hilda like less than a month after it came out, and I thought it came out last January! It's actually quite a relief that it came out much later than I thought which means I'm not too late to the fandom! I didn't even start showing my liking toward the show on the internet until last month.
Gotta remember, they are still children, which this show emphasizes a lot. I know while I was growing up my friends and I would get into arguments and/ or fights on occasion and we wound up being closer because of it. Hate how a lot of animated show focus on kids but they may as well be adults.

My problem with the conflict between the main characters. Was how the show treated and portrayed Frida. It did have some stereotypical undertones with the black girl being the aggressive, and confrontational one. Besides the fact that Hilda and David did treat her concerns and existential crisis like S*. Imagine this, for your whole life things have occurred in a way that you believe it to be natural, you didn't have to do or think much about it. Then an event changes that ultimately sends you to question what was real or not. In Frida's case who she really was as an individual, since a major aspect in her life so far was beyond her control and she never knew how greatly it impacted her. Add that to parents and self expectations to have everything perfect and in order (ridiculously/unrealistically high standards). And you have the perfect recipe for an existential crisis, where you question reality and yourself. Next Hilda and David didn’t take her concerns seriously. And while some people say Frida was putting the least effort into cleaning her room and figuring out how to get things back in order. Keep in mind that this is something she has never had to do. It was new to her, and with all new things most people aren’t experts at it right away. Next take into account that Hilda made all sorts of unfulfillable promises and dragged Frida into quite a few dangerous situations, in order to do what she thought would help Frida. Which was a terrible plan and empty promises anyone would and should be cautious and skeptical of. Especially considering that in the end they did nothing to actually help Frida with her problems. Finally Hilda and David both flipped out and took everything out on Frida for not being able to quickly accommodate to her new life situation. After doing things to “help”which ultimately led to nothing. Which was absolute BS from Hilda and David because as I stated earlier, when an event happens that ultimately changes how someone perceives the world and their way of life. It’s not as easy as telling someone that doing something will make it better, and expecting them to be able to very rapidly change everything that they do to what you are suggesting or demanding. Helping someone adapt to a sudden, unexpected, and rapid change is not as simple as telling someone that, they should just learn to do X, and expect everything to be fine. That’s not how life works, and if that is all the help that you are going to give to someone in Frida’s circumstance, as well as make promises and drag them into dangerous situations that lead to nowhere. Then you are a terrible friend. Frida’s anger and points at the end of “The Ghost” towards how Hilda and David “helped” her with empty promises and dragging her into dangerous situations is completely justified. Especially since once their first dangerous method to try and help her failed, the two ultimately gave up on trying to help her, and just told her to learn to do something she has never done before. When you consider that in previous episodes Frida was willing and went out of her way to help Hilda and David with every supernatural or deep problem they were being affected by until it was solved. But then in “The Ghost” Hilda and David start treating her like S* after one failed and crazy attempt to solve her problem, and she brings up very valid points about how crazy their actions have been. When you consider all this, Hilda and David are the ones who should be apologizing to Frida, not the other way around
I have a question on the whole Frida ghost episode. Was that scene originally in the graphic novel because if it was then I don’t have to much of a problem with the that scene because they were just staying true to the book (Granted they could have changed it but I still get it). Or was that scene not in the novel because if it wasn’t then I understand and agree with what you said in the video.
14:00 my most negative thing would be when it gets *too* into the whole magick being a normal part of life thing. namely the soul stealing thing with the mice.
Solid review as always. Thanks for the reccomendation. This is a really good show, a bit overly safe at times (such as how the barghest was dealt with), I personally think having an element of real danger would enhance the story but, this is good. Like if Gravity Falls had no hard edges to it at all.
I really see why people are comparing (or at least were) this show to gravity fall's but it's clearly unique in it's own way. I hope it comes back in 2019 somehow that way i can give it a watch
I've always wondered if it was due to the tide mice that Frida and David fought each other since the mice hitched a ride in the bag even after getting the bread.
I dont like it that much and everyone says it's the best I do say to..well kind of.. I'm just scared.. everyone seems to like it.. why dont I?... Thanks for reading this useless comment.. but I do agree it's a good show.
i feel in love with this show, the ending of the season felt a bit clunky and rushed do to multiple things happening at once and not all of it had a very balanced attention
you popped up in my reccmonadations now i subsribed to you and i remember i read these graphic novels lol and i love this too because of grimes also because i love cartoons and im sorry for commenting too much its just who i am
The first Netflix Show I like. I didn't even watch Gravity Falls and Adventure time exept for a few episodes because it got boring. But Hilda wasn't boring at all (I know that Gravity Falls and Adventure Time aren't netflix shows but people compare it to Hilda)
I have to Disagree about Frida's reaction. You must remember that Frida is a child, and Children don't manage their emotions so well. I've had class mates that where friends get into fist fights for less.
It's alright. I thought it was too until I turned on the captions to see the way to spell his name for the script. It's spelled "Alfur", their accents just make it sound radically different.
Keep in mind the kids are around 8 yrs old and that stressful and confusing situations between kids who are having an identity crisis do tend to go overboard and do things without really thinking
Honestly everyone on TH-cam talked about this .It’s a good cartoon but calling it the best seems overrated.I do agree it’s a good show but what about the other stuff on Netflix like Dragon price and such ?
I agree. Hilda is overrated. Calling it the best cartoon ever is not right. Apparently there's no best cartoon because it's an opinion. But they are much more cleverer cartoons than Hilda. Honestly I don't like Hilda's animation and calling it better than Gravity Falls is really wrong. I mean, watch Gravity Falls again and see how legendary Gravity Falls is. I do not like Hilda because it's a light cartoon. I like dark things.. with demons monsters, possessions, eyes, etc. Don't call me weird. Hilda isn't my style and never going to be one of my favourite shows. Also the fans are mean.
@@davekendall5936 like her being a kid in the middle of a crisis the way kids don't handle their emotions so well approval from the parents who want her to succed in everything
@@leonardofarias8843 just my personal theory, but yeah. The way she reacted to Frida saying she wished Hilda never moved to Trollberg was pretty heartbroken, and yes, that can be seen as friends, but she spends the rest of the episodes moping about Frita. So far we have seen Hilda doesn't like people too much because they drain her out, and her friends (and mom) are an exception but she thinks about it a lot. She often tries to still get the book back for Frida and does end up getting it the end because she wants her to be happy, and the messy room kind of collapsed Frita. And even at her place where she couls have everything she wanted, she wanted Frita's book, and that was the one thing she was interested in taking back. She also had the pictures hanging up at that same house, of her mom and all her friends, and Frita's frame is more grand (except maybe her mother's) and her picture is almost in the center. Hilda was so easy to forgive Frida, despite being obviously hurt, though that's an arguable personality trait of her. Also, Hilda's entire whole face lit up when Frita told her she trusted her and romantic music started playing in the background.
We Need more Things like Hilda, not some perverted shit with an orgy in every Episode!! I hate most series nowadays! More Hilda, more Amphibia, more Owl House! And Nefferious.

Best NEW cartoon? Yes.
This gives me such nostalgia from when i was younger lol i used to love this show sooo much
You guys ready for tomorrow
I've always wondered if it was due to the tide mice that Frida and David fought each other since the mice hitched a ride in the bag even after getting the bread.
Happy rhis show is getting more love. Its definately one of the best shows to come out this decade
In Australia we just have scouts, it's non-gender discriminatory. We also have girl Guides but I don't think it's as popular
I'm Glad The Woodman came back, Early episodes he was my favorite of the side characters.
Shameful that many cartoon reviewers haven't reviewed this gem.
Since when did you change your character?
the weather episode left me speechless after they find out whats in the locked room
Wait, there's gonna be a season 2?
Season 2 is wayyyy better esspecially the episode the deerfox
Wow you go into so much depth! Impressive!
Recently season 3 came out. Hope yall like it.
I dont like it that much and everyone says it's the best I do say to..well kind of.. I'm just scared.. everyone seems to like it.. why dont I?... Thanks for reading this useless comment.. but I do agree it's a good show.
i feel in love with this show, the ending of the season felt a bit clunky and rushed do to multiple things happening at once and not all of it had a very balanced attention
i need more of this show. lol
For some reason this show reminds me of Child of Light. Great review
I love this show, and it was released on my birthday! 😄
I love the intro from hilda
you popped up in my reccmonadations now i subsribed to you and i remember i read these graphic novels lol and i love this too because of grimes also because i love cartoons and im sorry for commenting too much its just who i am
...when did you change to the wolf?
I haven’t seen this show yet but seems to be good
Half gravity falls half adventure time & half star vs the forces of evil :D
Heck yeah I loved that show!!
It's so well animated and the story is so cute!! 💙
I completely agree, the Frida part was the worst part of the show. However for me it did really ruin the experience for me.
The first Netflix Show I like. I didn't even watch Gravity Falls and Adventure time exept for a few episodes because it got boring. But Hilda wasn't boring at all (I know that Gravity Falls and Adventure Time aren't netflix shows but people compare it to Hilda)
Watch Gravity Falls now. NOW I SAY. It was my childhood. THERE are so many mysteries and codes.. I don't spoiler more.
I have to Disagree about Frida's reaction. You must remember that Frida is a child, and Children don't manage their emotions so well. I've had class mates that where friends get into fist fights for less.
I don’t think I’ve ever gotten into fist fights with other kids, but I have thrown dirt at a bully.
great quality!, very calm and mature. i got a great idea of what the series is about
I thought the elfs name was Alpha this whole time lol
Still my favorite character.
It's alright. I thought it was too until I turned on the captions to see the way to spell his name for the script. It's spelled "Alfur", their accents just make it sound radically different.
SAME DJDJJDJD
Keep in mind the kids are around 8 yrs old and that stressful and confusing situations between kids who are having an identity crisis do tend to go overboard and do things without really thinking
Hilda and the other two might be ten years old but still
Final space or Hilda? I can’t decide!
Warning: you'll need to stare at pure lime green for half an hour before you marathon hilda
I have all graphic novels just waiting for the newest one!😍
personally, my favorite cartoon of 2018 was Emara...
Who else thinks that the designs for Frida and David look like Buffy and Cyrus (from Andi Mack) if they were like 10
I loved this series. Great video!
XD once my best friend and me fight over a tv control xD it was violent but later we go out to walk and we figured out
1:17
Hilda is an animated series on Netflix......
Me: Spoiler❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️
I loved this show! Binge watched it in one sitting.
Honestly everyone on TH-cam talked about this .It’s a good cartoon but calling it the best seems overrated.I do agree it’s a good show but what about the other stuff on Netflix like Dragon price and such ?
tbh i hate dragon prince
Why ?
VoxeTheDragon I did give the show an 8/10 .I would give gravity falls a 9/10 to be honest
VoxeTheDragon when I watched the show it felt like generic fantasy
I need season 2 now!!!
★Breezy Blue★ it will happen, but we do need to wait until 2020. :/ I’m the mean time, you can still read the books.
It’s out now and it’s amazing
@@konodioda3970 yeah, I forgot what season1 was about by now
i feel you're missing A LOT about Frida's conflict...
How so? Like what?
@@davekendall5936 like her being a kid in the middle of a crisis the way kids don't handle their emotions so well approval from the parents who want her to succed in everything
I do Love Netflix Hilda the Most!!!! :-D
I want more seasons of this show 😍
It is definitely the best!!!
I hope they stop at only 2 seasons!
I LOVE YOUR AVATAR❤️❤️❤️
Love the new av!
hilda hilga zelda heldi pelda milinda is all the names that the raven called her (I dont know if it is please dont REEEE at me)
I find that weirdly funny
Atleast there arty style don’t look sloppy like some times in steven univserse some of the townie epesoides most
if you were trying to sell me something i would buy it your sooo good at discribing things! your so smart
12:00 Lol I thought the same when I watched it.
I don't really having a problem with Frida's falling out. Kids do get into fights for insignificant reasons.
Yeah, but it felt pointless and poorly-written.
@@davekendall5936 No it felt natural
@@leonardofarias8843 How so?
@@davekendall5936 her delusions about herself came crashing down
Hm, didn’t know she used to have a furry icon
i know this is my first time watching this person but all i am thinking for half the video is whe the avatar has 2 sets of ears
I’d give it a 10 out of 10
I has wach it
I am honestly convinced that Hilda is in love with Frida
What is your evidence?
@@peachiedot8902 OH MY GOD Hilda is already feeling infatuation for someone and i think the crew is hinting at!
@@leonardofarias8843 wait so do you believe my theory or not? (sorry im stupid lmao)
@@peachiedot8902 I'm believing you right now
I think the show is very good
Lea c a cute cat
@Kasilovesdogsdeer foxes have hooves
Answer: hell ya!!!!
Damn furrys..... but I do love this show
We Need more Things like Hilda, not some perverted shit with an orgy in every Episode!! I hate most series nowadays! More Hilda, more Amphibia, more Owl House! And Nefferious.
