Again, I know part of this up but here is the full version. Sorry for the little skips- it keeps happening when I convert my DVDs. Kendall shows up at Mona's wake. Not surprisingly, Erica tells her how dare she come there. Kendall inadvertently knocks over Mona's picture. Jane, really Janet, intervenes. Sarah Michelle Gellar, Susan Lucci, Walt Willey, Larry Keith, Robin Mattson. - บันเทิง
Gorgeous woman and incredible actress. Sarah Michelle Gellar is a treasure.
This role is why SMG was originally brought in for Cordelia on Buffy.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was brilliant as Kendall: she blazed through the soap opera world like nobody's business and left an enormous impression on audiences. As Kendall Hart, she absolutely stole the show away from Susan Lucci. To watch this story unfold was was seeing All My Children crossed with All About Eve! Thanks to Gellar, Kendall ultimately had much more complexity than Lucci's Erica ever did as a character study, and although their characters had a similarly aggressive temperament, Sarah Michelle Gellar would constantly match Susan Lucci in any given scene, which only accentuated the tension between the two on-screen. It made for incredible viewing
wow..you summed that up perfectly..I came to truly enjoy Alicia minshews version of Kendall but SMG was obviously a star from the start and didn't belong in the soap world.True SL was beautiful and Erica Kane an interesting if not cartoonist character but we didn't watch her for her acting skills it was all about escapism.SMG made this character someone you might've known at work or from school..Good times.
I think Sarah Michelle Gellar DID belong in the soap world. The soaps are the last link to classic Hollywood acting, female soap stars are a throwback to the old time classic movie queens. Gellar was the perfect actress for soaps, when I see her on All My Children episodes, it reminds me of watching Vivien Leigh in Gone with the Wind... she took that part and played it for all it was worth, with all the vibrancy and energy she could muster. You don't get this anywhere else, it's a lost art. And as far as women characters go... soaps have always delved into the female world in a way that no other genre can.
Sarah brought that Kendall attitude in Cruel Intentions.
She's a great actress!

@@palomavega6494right? I love Lucci and Erica Kane is an iconic soap character, but Sarah’s career is still going strong and is riddled with iconic roles - originating Kendall, then moving to Buffy Summers, and portraying Kathryn Merteuil, Cici Cooper and Helen Shivers which are all beloved.

It's hard to understand what Jack ever saw in Erica except for her looks. It was always about her, right up until the show went off the air.
And I loved every minute of it lol! Erica was my favorite.

I liked her a lot better with dark hair and fair skin. She had that New York vibe which I was attracted to. When she went full blond and suntanned, I honestly lost interest; she looked fake.

I know Kendall had wreaked havoc on everyone, but it all stemmed from being treated like a second class citizen in the first place. And it's pathetic that it was that little brat Bianca's say so that made them physically force Kendall out. Mona was JUST as much Kendall's grandmother as she was Bianca's.
kendall brought that on herself. her eye's finally open when she saw that her father tried to molest bianca. kendall wanted revenge because erica chose to give her up due to the rape.

Yeah but Kendall had already brought Richard Fields to town Mona forgave Kendall for A lot her crap but bringing the man who raped her little girl and threw in there faces. That was too much for Mona

In Erica's '95 farewell scene with Kendall, she tells Kendall that Mona was always pushing her to give Kendall another chance (and Kendall brought Richard Fields to town in Jan '94, only a month after Kendall and Erica became estranged over Kendall falsely accusing Dimitri of rape/Erica stabbing him/the whole RF fiasco). Myrtle was written to hear Mona's spirit shortly before Kendall was leaving and Myrtle tells Kendall that Mona loved her. Myrtle is also convinced by Mona's spirit to visit Erica and tell her to say good-bye to Kendall. Additionally, Erica gives Kendall a ring that belongs to Mona when she goes to see her.
In case you forgot Bianca was nearly molested. That's not something that can just be forgiven.
It's said that the best music is made by band members who despise one another, and that seems to be true here. Just a fantastic scene between two actresses who feuded in real life.
They didn't feud. Sarah was a teenager at the time. It seems there was some issue but it's never been clear actually what it was. I remember reading something about SL feeling that SMG was trying to upstage her. SMG winning an Emmy apparently didn't help their relationship and SMG chose to leave the show soon after that.
...and you are perfectly on point with the "all about ave" comparison which AMC tried in the early 80s with the fake-Silver Kane storyline. SMG going onto Buffy stardom and her movie career while SL continued on as Erica makes the Eve Harrington analogy all too real.
ikr! i always felt Deborah Goodrich and Sarah Michelle Gellar had a spiritual kinship even though they im assuming they dont know each other i always felt like DG and SMG always acted like each other to me like DG has that SMG vibe about her

Kendall didn't come to start trouble. Erica did. All she had to do was ignore Kendall. Kendall said nothing to no one when she came in. And if Kendall was showing up just to rattle Erica, then Erica's the dummy for allowing her to get to her. LOL
It's fairly hard to ignore her when you see her face. After what Kendall pulled in the mid 90s (lying about being raped, bringing Richard to town, etc.), it's understandable that she'd not ignore her. In her mind, she believed Kendall was there to instigate trouble and that was a justifiable concern based off what Kendall orchestrated. If one believes a person will cause problems at a funeral for a loved one, they are very likely to confront them, not ignore.
As for rattling Erica, hmm mama Kane didn't seem rattled in this clip. I'd see your point if she flipped out and yelled at the top of her lungs....that never happened.

Oh, lord, I remember watching this live. It was so exciting and so uncomfortable. Great TV! And with a few years until BtVS started, I had no idea who SMG was. She was just so great as Kendall. Ahh, those were the days. :)
I was devastated when Mona died. Enough said. What I love about this clip is how Nick, Joe, Mark, and Jackson surround Erica as evil Kendall enters. I loved Sarah Michelle Gellar, but I have no doubt that when I first saw this episode I was out of my chair and screaming "get OUT of there you fucking bitch!"
THAT'S good storytelling and acting, and that's why AMC is the best soap ever.

I used to watch this show purposely for SMG, as I loved her as bitchy Sidney on Swan's Crossing. She deserves better in Hollywood.

Erica was TRASH for this. She could've paid it and let her grieve for Mona and let her walk out. Erica ALWAYS wanted to create a scene. It's a funeral. You are supposed to let others/loved ones bereave the dead.
Kendall's only ally was Janet. The entire town was gunning for her and Janet knew what that was like.
Sometimes you can't but show your ugliest part of you. My aunt did that at my mom's funeral and called all of killers and bastards. Unlike my mom her kids where the ones who you don't even know fathers was of her kids.
My mom was married when she had us kids to our dad and one dad to all five of us. She blames us for our moms death

I can see why we have wars. When I read the reviews I feel hatred towards the actors not their characters. Kind of scarey. Some arguably Kendall sociopaths who post here. I think it is nonsense to say SMG or SL are bad actresses or one better than the other. And this is not a sitaution at of SMG upstaging Lucci. Lucci always has shown the ability to create sparks with whoever on All My Children - the men and women in her life AMC should be thrilled SMG and SL played off each other magically. They both deserve credit Some of you who write or critique are a bit scarey. You cannot critique without hatred. Bravo to both actresses who really were part of what AMC great.
YES! THIS! Please stop comparing these two! Susan carried AMC on her tiny shoulders for YEARS before Kendall was a retconned thought! Now was Kendall ferocious and did SMG play the ferocity with all she had. I'd say yeah. But without Susan people wouldn't have cared! It's soaps 101 they tied her to the leading lady of the series! LOL!
I disagree. After watching the episodes and clips of EVERYTHING Kendall did to Erica (all the lies, manipulations, rape accusations, bringing her pedofile rapist father to town and shoving him in Erica's face constently, almost getting Bianca molested, saying Erica was a slut and wasn't raped, etc.) I don't blame her for kicking Kendall out. Erica accepted Kendall and she kept screwing Erica over, Kendall was ALWAYS up to something and lying non stop.

Erica is the one who made the scene, not Kendall. Kendall was simply coming there to pay her respects, not to do anything to offend Erica. Erica was the one who disrespected her own mother by making it about her own need to cause drama rather than allowing everyone who loved Mona to honor Mona's memory. Also, she was really nasty to say or insinuate that Kendall's tears were fake - Kendall never demonstrated that she hated Mona or disrespected her, only Erica.
I know! I thought it was funny when Erica said "Bianca wants you to leave" i mean come on she's six years old and she gets to say who stays or goes?

@@happybkwrm Kendall didn't leave Bianca alone with Richard Fields. When Kendall flew Bianca into Pine Valley, she left Bianca alone in her locked room while she went to go get take-out food. Richard Fields came by and demanded why the door was locked, at which point he convinced Bianca to unlock the door by introducing himself as Kendall's father. Bianca had no idea what that really meant so she let him in. Thankfully, Jackson/Trevor/Dimitri got there before anything happened. The next day or so, Bianca came to Kendall's room to confront Kendall about the crap she was pulling but Kendall wasn't there. Instead, Richard Fields found her and it's Kendall who saves Bianca that time. What Kendall *is* responsible for is bringing Bianca to town in the first place though.

Fantastic actress Sarah Michelle Geller. I think she belonged on soaps like Dynasty, Melrose Place. "Buffy" was a commercial success but didn't really showcase her dramatic acting skills

To watch this scene you would not believe how close Kendall became to Bianca. They were true sisters till the end. It took many years but even Erica learned to love Kendall unconditionally. I really loved it when Josh came along. The three Kane siblings were great together, It is too bad they did Josh dirty. I think he should have stayed on. He had such great potential as the male version of Erica
Jackieo, would you happen to have the scene where Kendall and Erica get into an argument at Myrtle's Boutique and perhaps some clips from the storyline where Janet, Erica, and Skye team up to stop Jonathan Kinder? I never got to see those scenes/storylines so if you have those clips I would be most grateful if you uploaded them.

I don't blame her for thinking it's another trick from Kendall. I'm so glad all the AMC stuff has been posted on YT this past year. It's nice to see all this again through adult eyes. I think Kendall is a MONSTER and severly mentally disturbed, she is disgusting. Erica is nicer than I am cause for all the hell Kendall put her and her family through, I would of beat the hell out of her. I'm horrified at how much Kendall wanted to hurt her birth mother, Erica was nothing but nice to her.
Erica got sick of Kendall's bs and cut her off, she had enough. Watching everything again, I believe Kendall was a complete sociopath.

And everyone acted like erica could do no wrong. it made me sick watching erica provoke Kendall. she was the one who caused a scene. not Kendall.
1. Brooke didn't die so that point is moot
2. It does not matter that Erica made mistakes. The point of this funeral was to celebrate Mona, not rehash all the shit both women caused over the years. Erica believed Kendall was there to start crap (and it was understandable after the stunts Kendall pulled)
3. I don't see how Erica's understated demeanor to Kendall could be viewed as "causing a scene"

She ignored Erica and walked right by her. Erica lashed out at Kendall because she was hurting and because she blamed her for how she was conceived. Erica should have just let Kendall alone and Kendall would have probably stayed out of everyone's way. But we'll never know because Erica was the one who started this. No matter what she had no right to tell Kendall to leave.

Brie Larson, this is the type of acting I want to see when you’re trying to act your way out of a wet paper bag as if you’re life depended on it. This is one of the reasons why an Emmy Award winner is better than you when it comes to acting. Sarah Michelle Gellar is a better actress than you the same way Buffy Summers is a better superhero than Captain Marvel. Your performances in Short Term 12, Room, and The Glass Castle are pretty good, but can they transition over to acting in a soap opera?
