@@ctclardy I'm inclined to go along with MUSIKL1. Haley does so many different things with it. There's a lot of improvisation and interplay musically and physically on stage between herself and Casey. The PMJ trio version was the first one I heard, and the very first time I ever came across Haley. It is a great version, and of course Morgan James and Ariana Savalas are on that as well. I'm sure I'll play them both over again a lot of times.
I'm back again to this, Rachel. A great job, putting this up. Tremendous "joie de vivre" in the whole performance. It's an extremely playful, light-hearted rendition, but nevertheless Haley throws in some super improvisations and harmonies with Casey that aren't in any of the other versions I've heard. I think this is the one I've enjoyed the most. They're having, and communicating, huge fun and enjoyment in making their music. Music's not all about that, but there is a place for it, and they've certainly found it. If this were recorded on professional equipment, this would be up there with the best of them.

That's not a good comparison. June Carter was not a good looking woman, she was homely and she did not have chops to sing like this. Johnny Cash played a guitar and just happened to have an ability to sing a long with it as he played.
He hadna much of a voice either. Good songs but I could never enjoy his singing because he had thon quaver in his voice and I was always on tenterhooks waiting for him to hit bum notes, which he often did. It obviously didna bother many other folk but it was a no no for me.

++Pierre Joseph CONILH You canna compare, literally. I don't think Morgan does it solo, only as part of a trio where she takes the high part, and admittedly is brilliant. Haley is doing something quite different here. Don't forget also that the circumstances and quality of the recording make comparison difficult as well. However, it's good enough to make me so wish I'd been there to hear giving this the works.
