As someone who got laid off for a few months and finally got a job again in the current hell scape of IT, I'll definitely try to tune in to the coding stream. Life is tough out here, we'll need to support each other in this industry.
Most cutting-edge technologies are. Great risk, great reward, but unfortunately the risks sometimes don't pay off. She should have gotten a severance package, though, and streaming (at her current size) is truly a blessing, so she should be OK for a while.

Most tech is because the people at the top are just businessmen who don't understand the tech their company makes at all and constantly sabotage things with terrible decision making. I work for a very small company that provides niche parts for OEM companies. The amount of BS I hear from the engineers of our various customer's is insane. Companies are constantly spending years and millions on projects only to cancel them before there is even a chance for them to have turned profitable.

This is what happens when someone is a genuinely sweet and kind person. Friends and community gather around when bad things happen. Also, there is no better hype-man than Bo. The first time i saw Bo was on Ellie's stream months ago. I followed him purely because of how he supported and encouraged Ellie. He may be a gremlin in collabs, but he is the real deal when it comes to supporting his friends.
Here’s the thing if she goes to work somewhere with old coworkers she just needs to tell one person that she made the boyfriend up because she wasn’t comfortable with guys hitting on her at work. It’s pretty simple and not like she is gonna see anyone else soon anyway.
I feel like if she says that to a guy, he might take it as a signal that she's revealing it to him because she WOULD be comfortable with HIM hitting on her.
In all seriousness though, I was there live and I felt so bad for Ellie. I can't tell if she is just really strong emotionally because she seemed to recover from the news somewhat quickly (of course not fully but she didn't sound like she was still in that initial impact phase during the stream) or her model is just really good at hiding emotions. Might be both. Hopefully during the hireathon she'll find another job, and soon.

Her biggest issue now is rent as she lives in New York. I know most people would be a mess from losing their job, but often times the writing is on the wall, such as less work to do. Twitch gives 50% of the purchase price to the streamer unless they're large enough to negotiate a special margin. The purchase price also depends on location, usually a good bit lower in many non-westerm countries. You can probably guess around a couple bucks per sub overall.

I'm both a mechanical and electrical engineer. I'm working as a telecom designer. I quit my job in the spring due to burnout and poor pay. I didn't find a new job the entire time until about 2 weeks ago when my old job wanted me back...for the same pay. I went back just because I'm in massive debt now. I loathe this industry.
"Robotics has very little job security and is not well paid"... well damn, and I'm on my way to getting a master (at least country equivalent) in what's essentially robotics. I hope the promoters didn't lie to me and I'm actually landing a job when I'll be done with that, the job market is different of course but you can't control self-doubt, only work through it.
