    I really do love swimming and joined for school but my coach makes us swim for 1 hour and a half but the whole time we’re doing freestyle but sprinting without breaks, i hate swimming now and my body is always tired and i try to encourage myself to keep going and that time will pass but every time i think i’m getting better i fall behind. I’m not s horrible swimmer, i’m good and have speed but today I did horrible and i just need the motivation to keep going, i’ve really been thinking to go down a lane( which means to go to a different lane with slower learners) i just don’t know if i’m strong enough, thank you for giving me some courage!

    I swim by myself. I made it fun by mixing my drills. I know I push myself at times but I know how to take it easy to just feel the joy of swimming. I do it for competition and for fun and to stay younger. I am 60 this year. I do 4X IM workout everyday for 6 days and swim 1,000 yards to a mile for 6 days. I will continue until I see the Lord.

    I hope I will continue to swim I'm only just started having swimming lessons in September 2022
    It's a long process and sometimes very frustrating
    Sometimes I feel that I'm not improving at all
    Although saying that my swimming teacher has said to
    Me that I am making good progress
    Why is it that we don't see the progress in ourselves

    Great message! I am in my late 50’s just started learning to swim (due to life long fear of drowning). I want to keep my flexibility and muscle tone to continue to swim well. I am learning to coexist with water, taming down lack of oxygen fear, and building muscle memory. Would be unlikely to compete but I do hope I can be proficient and swim for a long time to come.

    Swimming among other sports is really a mental sport. I can count on my fingers how many months I have spend crying because I have been training for the 11th place, and I knew I can be only at this level and I can never be a real winner. But after this I am the toughest one, my pet dog died and I didnt even cry. I am used to this pain, mental and physical. I can do anything, so I become a nuclear physicist . I am not the best one, I am average, but I am used to this and I still love swimming, and I am coach.

    Kinesthetic intelligence, these are the words I was looking for.... Being in the water with two frozen shoulders, the only relaxing moment during this period of my life. I learned that I could move my body without hurting my shoulders. The water was helping, carrying the weight of my arms, gentle movements of my body moved my totally relaxed arms just enough to stay out of the painzone but helping to relax. Standing in the water bending my knees just a little bit, so my body would sink a bit but my arms would float up a bit. A wonderful moment, I wished at that moment I could stay there the rest of the day. It took months before I could swim just a little bit, after a year I could swim a bit freestyle, relaxing was still the main goal, I learned how to move my body so I could lift my arm out of the water, how the water was helping me supporting my body, giving resistence just as much as I wanted and needed. Now after three years I am swimming freestyle daily, the beautifull thing of going for a swim is when you to tired to train you can always float a bit, just moving your arms and legs, figuring out how to keep your head, or how to breath mor efficiently, no need to get tired just getting new energy...

    Hey. I came to the pool because my doctor suggested it would help with my spinal disorder. My main sport is cycling, so swimming is intimidating and very difficult for me. It took me some time to find your channel, and it took me even more time to get used to the weirdness of your videos. Anyway, i just wanted to say that i appreciate your work, it helps me improve and stay motivated. Keep it up 🤝

    I kind of need this I haven't done any exercise in months and my legs felt like jelly after 8 lengths. It was made harder with my swimming shorts so I've purchased a speedy aquashort, hopefully I can get better.

    You have an interesting sense of humor.... I caught one video by some one else who pointed out how important it is to be able to relax away from the pool or what ever your sport is. As said by Robert Heinlein in one of his books, 'Specialization is for insects.'

    From Yogi Berra, the late great catcher from the New York Yankees, "It's 90% mental and 10% in your head." Being able to maintain any mental balance with the physical is half the battle...

    I don't agree with the last section of part five. You keep going because you enjoy yourself, not because of your relationship with other swimmers. I'm not saying that you may not have these relationships, but even if you didn't, it would be ok and you'd swim for your own sake.

    Hello
    Thank you for the amazing content. This is particularly a great set of highlights of contents.
    I can to swimming well late in life. After I became 40. In the past year I have swam a distance of 250K.
    I feel I have reached a stage where I miss swimming. Swimming is all I do. My time is limited to doing one hour exercise a day. I can hardly dedicate anymore to it. So I select to only do swimming. I actually never liked much anything else before I took up swimming except football.
    I am hoping to continue swimming for the rest of my life.
    Do you think this is a far fetched idea, probably impossible? Many thanks

      +Di DA thanks for commenting. Well swimming is not an easy sport. You have probably worked hard to get where you are now and you should be proud of that. If you are having doubts about quitting just try to go one more week and see if you like something about swimming that you didn't notice before. Swimming will not get easy but you will learn priceless lessons from it and you will meet unique people along the way. Remember why you started swimming and try to find new reasons to keep going. I wish you the best!

      I don't tell a lot of people online this but i'm 10 and when i was 4 I started swimming. I loved it. I even joined my local summer swim team. I also had swimming practice at a place called NOVA. The first 2 years were hard for me, I felt like quitting, but i didn't. i then went to summer swim team again and I was fast! I got alot of ribbons and even made it to the champ meet. It was worth it. I now swim at the 3rd best team in the usa!

    • @K.Bush94
      @K.Bush94 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      jasiaaj adaption is the key word , anaerobic (how you can keep producing energy without enough oxigen) metabolism is quite determined by the genes and changing it can take long time and lot’s of practise. So if you want to improve spend more time underwater, but know where your limits are :)

    • @jasiaaj

    which type is most tired ? its butterfly and then freestyle and breastroke and backstroke

    • @emilyy361
      @emilyy361 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It took me along time to master butterfly, but good tempo and arm movements help. Don't lift your chest up, instead move it fowards. Freestyle is complete sprint with your legs, breaststroke, unless you are like me, is slow and about gliding. Finally in backstroke the under water part is most important. Once in a swimming compitition i went halfway through the pool then started backstroke, got first by a lot, and my coach said it was one of the best stars he'd ever seen

    수영 기술. 성공적이고 오랜 수영 경력을 위한 6 가지 비결. 빠른 수영 방법.
    수영계에서의 20년이 넘는 경험을 통해 저는 성공적인 수영 경력을 오래 이어가려면 6 가지 기술이 필요하다는 사실을 깨달았습니다.
    1- 적응
    물속은 사람이 자연스럽게 지낼 수 있는 환경은 아닙니다.
    그러므로, 물속에서 더 오랜 시간을 보낼수록, 물속에서의 느낌이 더 좋아질 것입니다.
    2- 기술
    운동 감각 지능, 가동성 그리고 호흡 조절은 좋은 수영 기술의 가장 중요한 요인들입니다.
    3- 지구력
    멈추거나 느려지지 않으면서 얼마나 오랫동안 빠르게 헤엄칠 수 있느냐는 당연히 중요합니다.
    지구력의 어떤 부분은 유전의 영향을 받습니다.
    하지만, 인터벌 훈련, 휴식, 완전 소진 수영, 페이스 수영 등의 훈련을 통해 우리들 대부분은 지구력을 향상하려 노력합니다.
    4- 정신적인 균형
    건강하고 성공적인 정신 자세에는 두 가지 요인이 있습니다 - 강한 정신과 스스로 즐길 줄 아는 능력.
    5- 사회성
    동료 수영인, 경쟁자 그리고 코치와의 관계가 좋아야만 당신은 계속해서 나아질 수 있습니다.
    6- 학습 전이
    밖에서 배운 것을 수영장 안으로 가져와 당신의 수영 기술을 향상하는 학습 전이 능력은 가장 확실하게 당신을 돋보이게 만들 것입니다.

      00:00:00,523 --> 00:00:08,182
      Over 20 years of experience in the swimming world has taught me that there are 6 main skills for a long successful swimming career.
      수영계에서의 20년이 넘는 경험을 통해 저는 성공적인 수영 경력을 오래 이어가려면 6 가지 기술이 필요하다는 사실을 깨달았습니다.
      2
      00:00:08,823 --> 00:00:10,735
      1- Adaptability
      1- 적응
      3
      00:00:10,764 --> 00:00:14,171
      Water is not the natural habitat for humans.
      물속은 사람이 자연스럽게 지낼 수 있는 환경은 아닙니다.
      4
      00:00:14,206 --> 00:00:19,303
      So for swimmers, the more time you spend in the water, the better you will feel in it.
      그러므로, 물속에서 더 오랜 시간을 보낼수록, 물속에서의 느낌이 더 좋아질 것입니다.
      5
      00:00:19,563 --> 00:00:23,387
      In the water, everything is in constant change.
      물속에서는, 모든 것이 꾸준히 변합니다.
      6
      00:00:23,652 --> 00:00:26,145
      There are waves, the temperature changes.
      물결이 있고, 온도가 변합니다.
      7
      00:00:26,208 --> 00:00:30,600
      Sometimes there are few people in the pool, sometimes there are plenty.
      어떤 때는 수영장에 사람이 적고, 어떤 때는 사람이 아주 많습니다.
      8
      00:00:30,729 --> 00:00:34,939
      Your body also changes over the years, even over months.
      당신의 신체 역시 달라집니다 해가 지남에 따라, 심지어는 달마다.
      9
      00:00:34,984 --> 00:00:40,068
      Some days you will feel great. And the next one you will feel terrible.
      어떤 날은 기분이 아주 좋을 것입니다. 하지만 그다음 날은 기분이 아주 나쁠 수도 있습니다.
      10
      00:00:40,139 --> 00:00:44,826
      The better you adapt to those changes the better you will be able to swim.
      이러한 변화에 더 잘 적응할수록 당신은 더 잘 헤엄칠 수 있게 될 것입니다.
      11
      00:00:44,870 --> 00:00:46,512
      2- technique
      2- 기술
      12
      00:00:46,611 --> 00:00:54,485
      Kinesthetic intelligence, mobility and breath control are the most important factors for a good swimming technique.
      운동 감각 지능, 가동성 그리고 호흡 조절은 좋은 수영 기술의 가장 중요한 요인들입니다.
      13
      00:00:54,663 --> 00:01:00,405
      Kinesthetic intelligence is the ability to solve problems using one's body.
      운동 감각 지능은 어떤 문제를 자신의 신체를 이용해 해결하는 능력입니다.
      14
      00:01:00,524 --> 00:01:09,535
      To have Kinesthetic intelligence in the water means being aware of how your body interacts, moves and reacts to the water.
      물속에서 운동 감각 지능이 있다는 것은 당신의 몸이 어떻게 물에 작용하고, 움직이며 반응하는지 인지하고 있다는 것을 의미합니다.
      15
      00:01:09,776 --> 00:01:14,835
      It is important to use your senses to improve your technique.
      당신의 기술을 향상하려면 감각을 사용할 줄 아는 것이 중요합니다.
      16
      00:01:15,014 --> 00:01:18,927
      Mobility is the range of motion of your joints.
      가동성은 관절의 가동 범위입니다.
      17
      00:01:19,129 --> 00:01:28,943
      This includes flexibility, strength, muscle balance and other factors that come together to allow you to move the body to its full range of motion.
      함께 작용하여, 당신의 신체를 가동 범위 전체에 걸쳐 움직일 수 있게끔 해주는 유연성, 힘, 근육 간의 균형 그리고 기타 요인들이 가동성을 구성합니다.
      18
      00:01:28,978 --> 00:01:31,761
      Breathe control is very important.
      호흡 조절은 아주 중요합니다.
      19
      00:01:31,834 --> 00:01:35,873
      Although taking it to the human limits can be dangerous,
      비록 인간의 한계까지 숨을 참는 것은 위험하지만,
      20
      00:01:35,922 --> 00:01:44,086
      having mental control over the urge to breathe and knowing when not to breathe is an essential part of being a good swimmer.
      호흡해야 한다는 강박을 정신적으로 조절할 수 있고 숨 쉬지 않아야 하는 상황을 아는 것은 훌륭한 수영 선수가 되기 위해서는 필수적인 부분입니다.
      21
      00:01:44,141 --> 00:01:46,520
      3- Endurance
      3- 지구력
      22
      00:01:46,567 --> 00:01:52,608
      How long you can swim fast without stopping or slowing down is obviously important.
      멈추거나 느려지지 않으면서 얼마나 오랫동안 빠르게 헤엄칠 수 있느냐는 당연히 중요합니다.
      23
      00:01:52,732 --> 00:01:55,622
      Some of that is affected by genetics.
      지구력의 어떤 부분은 유전의 영향을 받습니다.
      24
      00:01:55,749 --> 00:02:05,323
      However, this is what we mostly try to improve in our training through intervals, rests, all-out swims, paces etc.
      하지만, 인터벌 훈련, 휴식, 완전 소진 수영, 페이스 수영 등의 훈련을 통해 우리들 대부분은 지구력을 향상하려 노력합니다.
      25
      00:02:05,426 --> 00:02:07,153
      4- Mental balance
      4- 정신적인 균형
      26
      00:02:07,200 --> 00:02:16,360
      There are two components of a healthy successful mindset- Mental toughness and the ability to enjoy oneself.
      건강하고 성공적인 정신 자세에는 두 가지 요인이 있습니다 - 강한 정신과 스스로 즐길 줄 아는 능력.
      27
      00:02:16,550 --> 00:02:17,863
      Mental toughness
      강한 정신
      28
      00:02:17,933 --> 00:02:20,643
      it's easy to swim on the good days.
      기분이 좋은 날에는 수영하는 것이 쉽습니다.
      29
      00:02:20,678 --> 00:02:25,539
      But what really makes you better is how well you swim on the off days.
      하지만 진짜로 나아지게 하는 것은 기분이 안 좋은 날에 수영을 얼마나 잘하느냐입니다.
      30
      00:02:25,832 --> 00:02:30,076
      There is a dark side, however, of being so mentally tough.
      하지만 정신력이 아주 강한 것에는 안 좋은 부분도 있습니다.
      31
      00:02:30,174 --> 00:02:33,188
      And only a few are willing to accept it.
      그리고 오직 소수의 사람들만이 그것을 적극적으로 받아들이려 합니다.
      32
      00:02:33,470 --> 00:02:38,498
      Swimming is a mental game.
      수영은 정신력이 필요한 경기입니다.
      33
      00:02:38,718 --> 00:02:42,590
      And my journey has been full of obstacles.
      제 여정은 장애물로 가득 차 있었습니다.
      34
      00:02:42,925 --> 00:02:50,574
      My expectations for myself were so high that I wasn’t happy.
      제 자신에 대한 기대가 너무 커 저는 행복하지 않았습니다.
      35
      00:02:50,970 --> 00:02:54,161
      I wasn’t having fun.
      재미있지도 않았습니다.
      36
      00:02:54,771 --> 00:02:57,243
      I found a more playful path.
      저는 좀 더 재미를 느낄 수 있는 길을 찾았습니다.
      37
      00:03:01,110 --> 00:03:06,024
      I realized it’s just swimming.
      그냥 수영일 뿐이라는 사실을 깨달았습니다.
      38
      00:03:06,275 --> 00:03:12,771
      I took a step back and found balance.
      저는 한 발 물러나 균형을 찾았습니다.
      39
      00:03:13,438 --> 00:03:19,387
      And that has made all the difference.
      그러고나니 모든 것이 달라졌습니다.
      40
      00:03:20,700 --> 00:03:23,198
      The race. I knew the outcome obviously.
      그 경기. 저는 분명 그 결과를 알았습니다.

      41
      00:03:23,223 --> 00:03:27,415
      But I was watching the race. Well, if I hit the turn I win the race.
      하지만 저는 그 경기를 보고 있었습니다. 글쎄요, 벽을 때렸더라면 제가 그 경기를 이겼을 것입니다.
      42
      00:03:27,483 --> 00:03:31,946
      And that was something that obviously stuck with me for a long time.
      그때의 기억은 확실히 오랫동안 저를 괴롭혔습니다.
      43
      00:03:32,026 --> 00:03:35,575
      For me I have had struggles outside of the pool.
      저의 경우는 수영장 밖에서 어려움을 겪었습니다.
      44
      00:03:35,600 --> 00:03:37,785
      I have been in the public eye in not the best way.
      저는 좋지 않은 방식(음주운전)으로 대중들에게 노출되었었습니다.
      45
      00:03:37,810 --> 00:03:41,161
      And it’s not fun.
      정말 안 좋은 기억이었습니다.
      46
      00:03:41,319 --> 00:03:47,290
      For me... it led me to the darkest place I have ever been in my life, not wanting to be alive anymore.
      제게는... 그것 때문에 사는 동안 한 번도 겪어보지 못했던 깊은 나락으로 빠져들어 더 이상 살고 싶지도 않았습니다.
      47
      00:03:47,391 --> 00:03:49,546
      And, and... Ah mmmm
      그리고, .....
      48
      00:03:49,644 --> 00:03:58,021
      You know. For me I am so thankful to be able to go through some of the work that I have gone through over the last two years to become the person who I am today.
      지난 2년에 걸쳐 제가 겪었던 일들을 딛고 일어서 오늘날 제 모습을 찾을 수 있었음에 감사드립니다.
      49
      00:03:58,876 --> 00:04:03,249
      After some of the struggles, not many people have seen the true me.
      몇 가지 어려움 뒤에는, 그다지 많지 않은 사람들만이 진짜 제 모습을 알아봐 주었습니다.
      50
      00:04:03,358 --> 00:04:05,668
      What you are seeing today is the true me.
      오늘 저의 모습이 진짜 저의 모습입니다.
      51
      00:04:05,785 --> 00:04:07,143
      I’m living the dream.
      저는 꿈꾸던 대로 살고 있습니다.
      52
      00:04:07,205 --> 00:04:10,177
      So, you know, I am in the best place where I can possibly be right now.
      즉, 저는 제가 지금 당장 있을 수 있는 가장 좋은 처지에 있습니다.
      53
      00:04:10,205 --> 00:04:11,877
      And I just love life.
      저는 그냥 이 삶을 사랑합니다.
      54
      00:04:12,014 --> 00:04:23,414
      We know of Phelps and Sjostrom because they are the rare few that got to be Olympic athletes before they were burned out and because they came back with a better mindset.
      우리는 펠프스와 쇼스트롬 둘 다 기운을 완전히 소진하기 전에 올림픽 선수가 되었던 극소수에 속하고 다시 더 나은 마음가짐으로 되돌아왔다는 것을 알고 있습니다.
      55
      00:04:23,598 --> 00:04:29,783
      But the vast majority of swimmers quit swimming because they don’t enjoy it anymore.
      하지만 대부분의 수영 선수들은 더 이상 수영을 즐기지 못하기 때문에 수영을 그만둡니다.
      56
      00:04:29,880 --> 00:04:36,216
      They don’t enjoy the process, and aren’t willing to make sacrifices to keep going.
      그만두는 사람들은 과정을 즐기지 못하고, 계속하기 위해 기꺼이 희생하려 하지 않습니다.
      57
      00:04:36,573 --> 00:04:39,660
      They say pain is temporary and pride is forever.
      고통은 잠시지만 만족감은 영원하다는 말이 있습니다.
      58
      00:04:39,685 --> 00:04:44,123
      But actually winning takes just one moment as well.
      하지만 실제로는 승리 또한 잠시 뿐입니다.
      59
      00:04:44,210 --> 00:04:48,350
      Your body cannot keep a high level of excitement for many days.
      우리 신체는 크게 흥분된 감정을 오랫동안 유지할 수 없습니다.
      60
      00:04:48,467 --> 00:04:52,102
      So what happens after everything settles?
      그럼 모든 것이 잠잠해진 후에는 어떻게 되나요?
      61
      00:04:52,191 --> 00:04:54,224
      Pain is more constant.
      고통이 더 지속적입니다.
      62
      00:04:54,285 --> 00:04:58,559
      You will experience much more pain than you will experience pride.
      당신은 만족감을 경험하는 것보다 훨씬 더 많은 고통을 경험하기 마련입니다.
      63
      00:04:58,708 --> 00:05:08,047
      So, you might as well learn how to enjoy every practice, every meal and every well deserved nap.
      그러므로 당신은 매번 하는 연습을, 매 끼니를 그리고 매번 당연한 낮잠을 즐기는 법 또한 배우는 것이 좋습니다.
      64
      00:05:08,184 --> 00:05:12,149
      Taking time off depends on the mental state of each swimmer.
      필요한 휴식 기간은 각 선수의 심적 상태에 따라 달라집니다.
      65
      00:05:12,371 --> 00:05:16,358
      Sometimes you need only one day off and sometimes more.
      어떤 때는 하루만 쉬어도 되고 어떤 때는 더 오래 쉬어야 합니다.
      66
      00:05:16,461 --> 00:05:17,399
      5- Social skills
      5- 사회성
      67
      00:05:17,424 --> 00:05:22,118
      Sure you can swim by yourself. You might have good training sessions.
      물론 혼자서 헤엄칠 수도 있습니다. 훈련을 잘할 수도 있습니다.
      68
      00:05:22,189 --> 00:05:26,285
      You might swim by yourself for a couple of years and improve!
      이년 정도는 혼자 헤엄치면서 수영 기술이 좋아질 수 있습니다!
      69
      00:05:26,310 --> 00:05:35,006
      But if you want a healthy long lasting swimming career you need to build up strong friendships with other swimmers.
      하지만 건강하게 오랫동안 수영인으로서 성공하려면 다른 수영인들과 강한 유대를 형성해야 합니다.
      70
      00:05:35,194 --> 00:05:45,238
      The quality relationships you have with Your fellow swimmers, competitors and coach will be one of the main reasons why you will continue to improve.
      동료 수영인, 경쟁자 그리고 코치와의 관계가 좋아야만 당신은 계속해서 나아질 수 있습니다.
      71
      00:05:45,302 --> 00:05:46,261
      6- Transfer skills
      6- 학습 전이
      72
      00:05:46,316 --> 00:05:50,146
      Not everything you need to learn about swimming is in the pool.
      수영에 관한 모든 것을 수영장에서만 배울 필요는 없습니다.
      73
      00:05:50,186 --> 00:05:54,307
      Some skills you will pick up by running, or at the gym.
      어떤 기술들은 달리기에서, 또는 체육관에서 습득하게 될 것입니다.
      74
      00:05:54,362 --> 00:05:59,430
      Some times you will learn something in physics class that will help you swim faster.
      어떤 때는 물리학 수업 시간에 더 빨리 헤엄칠 수 있는 방법을 배우게 될 것입니다.
      75
      00:05:59,508 --> 00:06:00,476
      I don’t know.
      글쎄요.
      76
      00:06:00,521 --> 00:06:04,992
      Maybe you will learn something new by watching a Skills And Talents’ video on TH-cam.
      유튜브에서 Skills And Talents 비디오를 보면서 새로운 무언가를 배우게 될 수도 있겠지요.
      77
      00:06:05,017 --> 00:06:17,118
      The ability to transfer what you learn outside the pool and bring it in creative ways to improve your swimming will most likely be what distinguishes you from the rest.
      밖에서 배운 것을 수영장 안으로 가져와 당신의 수영 기술을 향상하는 학습 전이 능력은 가장 확실하게 당신을 돋보이게 만들 것입니다.
