Personally, I use my tarot cards for both games and some minior divination. (Mostly for myself) I tend to like to think the games have helped me connect with the decks if that makes sense.
has anyone tried, instead of a retreat, to make it out that other side and do a set number of rooms that leads to back exit? idk how many beatable rooms a dungeon could have if everything went perfect but you could subtract a few depending on how brave you feel and just keep going
Yes, the game gets progressively more complicated in the Expert and Advanced versions, an resource management comes more into play. There are also campaign rules and bunch of other variants. The nature of the game means there is always a strong element of chance, but a good dose of strategy and smart play can definitely make a difference. There rules for Basic, Expert, and Advanced versions of the game, plus six game variants: Two-player Cooperative, Dragon's Lair, Undead Hordes, Mega-Dungeon, Campaign Mode, and Cartomancy. The 44 page PDF is just a Starter Edition.
Yeah, of course there's symbolism in the arcana, but my understanding is all the occult stuff came later. Also our standard playing cards evolved from tarots. Thanks for your interest in Dungeon Solitaire! Of course, one should still fear meeting a Lich deep in the dungeon. lol
Great game. Played the basic game a lot. Got a digital copy of your book (via Drivethrurpg). I have 1 question. Can I use the dodge blow card if I get hit from a treasuretrap? Thanks for your video's and your book. I hope you make a digital version of the game (android/ios).
Hey Mark, Thank you! Great to hear you're enjoying the game! In answer to questions: yes, dodge blow can be used to negate any single instance of damage, so if you get hit by a trap (or a monster of course), you can play that and suffer no damage. Hope that helps. Enjoy the game!
It's a fancy version of "solitaire" which is itself insanely random. It's more of a distraction or activity than any kind of "meaningful decisions" being made.

I used to be terrified of tarot cards and then later in life I learned tarot cards were originally made for games

This game is insanely random.
This wasn't Labyrinth of Souls, this was Tomb of Four Kings which is just a "Press-Your-Luck" game. Poor choice to name the video LoS Basic.
