  • Part 2 of the MB testing video. We added some MB on the line, and more test. The same barricade but loading the buttstock, also comparing 223rem to 6cm to see if there is a difference.
    Same bad English, same nice content!
    1:35 - Presentation of the new brakes
    2:58 - Spearhead Gen1 vs Gen2 vs Gen3 results
    3:31 - MPA OG result
    4:31 - MPA prototype
    5:32 - Conclusion 1 - Muzzle brake VS compensator
    7:32 - Conclusion 2 - Size case effect on MB
    9:48 - Conclusion 3 - Muzzle jumping down
    Thank you all, please leave a comment on what you would like to see next, it's really appreciated.

    Thank you again for all the great R&D.
    I bought the MPA DN5 after your watching your video it is nice kit but I will say my
    Area 419 Hellfire match brake was much much easier to install and set.
    I also bought an EVA vision brake from Norway, very nice kit too and also much easier to install than the MPA DN5 brake and it has a repeatable set up using set screws.
    Maybe if you talk to your friends at MPA you could suggest a better set up than dual wrenches for setting up as you have to tape up the brake to keep it from being scratched and gouged by the wrenches and it is very difficult setting it level. JMHO

      I will let MPA know. What I personnally do is setting the brake at about 15deg, then torque it with 1 wrench and a bubble level until it get into position. I agree it's still not the easiest way, but it work pretty well for me.

    What is the scaled factor vs relative score on the muzzle jump test?

    • @canadianprecisionshooting9597
      @canadianprecisionshooting9597  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good question! The scaled factor is the result from the test itself, being put on a same comparative scale from the different day with some control group. The relative score is, from the scaled one, the "worst" result being put down to 0% and the best to 100%, so it's easier to read and compare them. I'm changing that with my next bench to get a result that should be the exact same on different days and condition tho, coming to a future explicative video, then a fourth testing with more MB.

      @@canadianprecisionshooting9597 The ATS is fantastic. I also really like the DN5. Both are reasonably priced. I think I’ll stick with the DN5 on bigger cases and the ATS on the Dasher. On my 6x47, the DN5 is truly magical. I see EVERYTHING, almost makes the bigger cases relevant again. Considering a 25x47 now! The ATS in my experience works well with the lower gas volume and reticle stays on target with less jolt. To me I think the answer is finding the brake that pairs best with your case. If I knew how to machine I’d start making case specific brakes!

    Looking forward to more videos on this subject. Curious how the JP Recoil Eliminator ranks. Also curious about your muzzle brake's shift in zero vs bare muzzle. If there's a big change then I'd think that would mean the muzzle brake is creating a lot of flex in the barrel as the gasses escape.

    • @canadianprecisionshooting9597
      @canadianprecisionshooting9597  ปีที่แล้ว

      My guess is the gasses are escaping after the bullet leave the barrel, and so probably not a big zero change. But easy to try/test in a next video!

      I have all the footage for that, but it's a 2min+ for every brake so would make the video too long. But I'm thinking about making couple "quick" videos of less then 5min that would present each brake more in dept (characteristics, each video, etc.)

    I am still confused with results, maybe you can help me decipher.
    How did the ACE do with 6.5CM, shooting prone with pressure applied?
    I am looking for a muzzle brake-compensator, that will minimize muzzle jump, stay in target as much as possible of couse, and that reduces muzzle concussion.
    Merci d’avance

    • @canadianprecisionshooting9597
      @canadianprecisionshooting9597  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The ACE is more of a comp, working well to stay on target while positionnal shooting. It is not design to be optimal shooting prone. You should look at the third video, uploading this week, that will go deeper in performance per concussion

  • @rpk5250
    @rpk5250 ปีที่แล้ว

    I will admit that I don’t understand why one break can do well if it’s freely allowed to recoil and a completely different brake does well when there’s some resistance that seems like the one that did well on free recoil should be right up there with the one that does the best when there’s some resistance

    • @canadianprecisionshooting9597
      @canadianprecisionshooting9597  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a really intuitive way and it's also what I was expecting before the test.
      As I said in the video, after talking with different makers, some of them make a difference between a real muzzle brake that aim at reducing recoil, and a compensator that aim at keeping the barrel level. Where the brake goal is to push as much force behind to reduce/move the total amount of energy in the momentum and so can push gazes with different angle and move the muzzle (rise or sideway) to reduce the force at the buttstock overall, the comp on his side try to move gazes around aiming at keeping the muzzle straight, no matter how much the buttstock will move backward in the process.
      And so, different port configuration bring different movement, not only in term of recoil, but also in term of muzzle movement that will have different behavior having resistant behind. Where the free recoil testing help seeing the comp performance, a loaded test will have more impact on the recoil reduction side.
      It is my understanding
