- Help Rocket rescue the Guardians of the Galaxy on this all-new ride. Disney California Adventure Park's Tower of Terror was transformed into Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! and is now officially open.
You'll hop inside and command a gantry lift before the mission begins. The ride consists of 6 different song versions; on this particular ride version, you jam out to "I Want You Back"!
During Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT!, you'll encounter several chaotic scenarios while rescuing the Guardians. And of course, you'll experience some intense drops, as well!

I love how every other tower has a scary theme of like ghosts haunting a hotel and a cursed statue going wild in a hotel while this one has a theme of a raccoon frying some control boards to an elevator

Tanner Houston it’s true. I loved tower of terror as much as the next but I rode it for the first time yesterday and as oppose to just screaming from the falls I was screaming, laughing, singing and just enjoying hearing everyone cheer and being happy. It’s a welcomed addition to Disney parks!

This ride looks so bad ass! Those who are not happy with the changes should try the ride first before you start complaining. You never know you might just like it. I for sure like this a lot.

ThunderStorms 211 because they have upbeat music and less of the creepy factor from tot, I agree that this is way more fun! The whole feeling of the ride is much more loose and enjoyable in my opinion

Normally I would be reluctant in getting on the Tower of Terror, but I'm really going to go on this ride. All I have to do is get my mother to agree, unless she lets me go on alone.
I love this. Making people feel excited and happy instead of terrified of falling. It's so fantastic. I love the Guardians. Can't wait to ride this thing.

But with much more updated technology. Now it has more drops as well as randomized drop sequences, a random song from a list of catchy 80s songs that will play, and different random scenes that play on the screen. All of this combined makes the ride longer and more enjoyable, as well as making each ride experience truly unique.

just watching this video gives me the chills. its so fun. i went to disney last week and my friend and i did this ride 5 times in a row. so much fun

At first, I thought this was a stupid idea for a ride and wanted ToT back, but I'm actually looking forward to going on this next week when I am in DCA.
This looks awesome! I was just as upset as everyone else when I heard the amazing Tower of Terror was going to be changed, but honestly this new ride truly looks like it's a blast and the animatronic in the pre-show was incredibly well done. I'm glad there's still a classic ToT at Disney World, but this seems like quite a fun addition to the Disney roster. Pleasantly surprised!
I felt the same way, but this ride is a lot of fun. Spooky quality of TOT is gone but I felt like they added a fun quality that is just a bit more appealing to children that thought TOT was going to be frightening. The music on the different drop sequences is the BEST.

I went on it yesterday for Grad Nite 2019, it got me off guard but i loved it! 😂
When I rode ToT, i was genuinely afraid and thought I was going to die. The GotG actually made me enjoy the ride. I did feel like I was going to die, but it was extremely fun and I didn’t have my eyes closed the whole time unlike ToT.
Before I saw the actual ride I thought of maybe turning on Jackson 5 on my phone, but then Rocket plugged in the phone or whatever an It started playing the song. Wish granted 😛

I went into the fast pass line without a fast pass at 11:30 and got on in like 5 minutes

For one thing I think that's the point of this ride. Although the same with Tower of Terror, they made it more child-friendly (not that ToT wasn't child friendly). Also, they added one more drop as compared to Tower of Terror's 6 total count of drops, GotG has 7. I will Tower of Terror dearly, but I keep reminding myself Disney has to evolve...

No, actually. This version of the ride has a randomized drop sequence. It uses different computer programs that give rides a different drop pattern and number of drops each ride, but no matter what the computer comes up with, it's always more than the old version of the ride. There's also a random song from a list of classic 80s songs that plays, as well as different scenes that are chosen to pop up on the screen (I believe it always shows 2 of 4 or 5 scenes to play on the screen, but the final ending scene is always the same). All of this put together makes every ride experience truly unique and gives you all the more reason to ride it more than once.
If it makes you feel any better, Walt Disney World has a better version of the old ToT that is still there and won't be leaving any time soon. Come and try it out some time!
That's my thing too. I will miss ToT so bad (it was my favorite ride in the parks) BUT Disney will always be changing. It won't always be what my childhood Disneyland and I'm learning to be okay with it. I trust Disney will do well.
Jay Manny lol, what do you mean ToT wasn't child friendly? As far as I recall, the Gotg wasn't too much of a child friendly movie either. Anyway, I liked the tower of terror. Not so many screaming children running around, cutting in line, etc.

as a big fan of this ride, I have a few problems with the way the queue is setup. I wish that you were let in as a huge group, saw the video and in to the library like they have the haunted mansion intro as opposed to just walking in whenever, because I can only imagine how annoying the queue video would get as the ride is quite popular and guests will hear it multiple times. maybe as the crowds die down they might do that. I also think the boiler is where the cages you see when you walk in should be leaving what was the lobby as a lobby still.

I been on this ride oh my god I screamed so loud I was so excited to go on this ride I loved it I love how rocket unplugged and said let me see those hands that was fun
When I went on this there was this guy with a Gopro and before we got in he asked the guy "is this safe?" And he said" Enjoy your ride" and he was so cool about it, and he really stuck with his character and it was awesome. The gopro guy filmed it, and he was also super nice.
I see how it makes sense marketing wise (a different ride on either coast) to encourage travel and spending. Although I will miss the Tower of Terror, a friend of mine had a heart attack on the thing so this is a welcomed change. At least it seems more upbeat. Next time I'm in Cali I'll give it a try.

My five year old was super upset and i felt bad for her because she exited crying. I hope next time we go she enjoys it because it was fun!!

I had the chance to go on Tower of Terror when I was in 5th grade but chickened out last second and didn't go. Man I wish I went on because now I never will be able to experience the ride. I mean Guardians of The Galaxy is good and all but Twilight Zone is a classic
At least we still have the tower at Disney World. And maybe the GOTG ride in Epcot will be better.

I honestly enjoyed this ride so much more than tot, it has a more family friendly atmosphere in my opinion. Not that i didn't like tot but i feel like it's more fun now with the music and the guardians there. I think the music's what makes the big difference.

Idk if you guys notice or not but when rocket plugs his mixtape in, the song is always a different song everytime u get one the ride (I realized this because the ride broke down when the music starts and then they put us in a different elevator and it was a different song

I LOVED the old theme and as much as I love GOTG I was sort of upset to hear of the change but it does look good and the (better) original ToT is still standing in Orlando so I definitely approve of the change lol

To all those idiotic people who don't know how to research their information, ToT was closed down in DCA because the contract for The Twilight Zone had expired. Yes, it was an iconic ride but people knew that day would come, even with its popularity. Remember, all good things must come to an end. So quit being so rude to the people who actually enjoy this thrilling ride! Personally, I believe Disney is just trying to experiment with the brands they own. For example, Marvel. Also, keep in mind that GotG HAS 6 DIFFERENT RIDE EXPERIENCES! It's literally different each time you ride it, unlike the continuous eerie and uninviting storyline of ToT.
