I like this review. It led me to getting the laptop, and am on it right now as I'm typing this haha. Having two monitors is definitively this laptop's greatest selling point. It's not the highest in performance, nor the highest in battery life. And although the build quality is good, the keyboard being so light also makes it the riskiest equipment to break on the device. But anyone on the go, ESPECIALLY travelers who legitimately cannot schlep around extra equipment such as monitors and keyboards, this form factor is nigh irrreplaceable IMO.
@@TryHarderrr General school? This would probably be overkill. A dedicated tablet would be better for artists (the stylus that comes with this is not THAT great--serviceable, but not great--, and a lower powered sub-$1500 laptop will more than suffice for a college student's needs. For a programmer though? I'd imagine the "book mode" of this laptop, where you'd have both screens standing vertically side by side, would be a godsend form factor. And, it does have the processing power to back up anything a developer might need to do.
Finally a good and honest product overview. Almost all the "reviews" on youtube are just 10 minute ads where they lick asus' boots. What happened to honest reviews, having your own opinions and presenting pros and cons? I had to go digging to find anything that's not just an ad reciting what's written on the spec sheet.
@@circasurvive9891 Imo, reviewers should not take money from the company that made the product. At that point it's not an unbiased opinion anymore and a potential conflict of interests.
I own this unit (32GB ram and 185H). I love it but it loses about 1% battery per hour of sleep, which add up to a lot in a day. That may be a deal killer for many of you. I'm only getting about 3.5 to 4.5 hours of use with ONE screen doing browsing and youtube.
@@frufus1 yeah I do but I prefer the quick startup from standby. My XPS 15 doesn't lose more than 1% in standby overnight. Something is not going into the right sleep state.
Thank you very much for the review! Especially the comprehensive testing of the stylus. I was curious if it could replace my Wacom tablet accessory but after your review it seems to have mediocre stylus performance.
I would love that Asus makes an 16 inch dual display laptop pc with nummeric keypad.... I work a lot with documents and have to use a lot nummeric keypad... in this scenario I would be obliged to use an external keyboard with nummeric keypad
@teohontech7141 - how is the system operating now? Read a lot of bad reviews with screen issues, keyboard issues and slowness of UI. I have ordered the u9 32gb version but with so many issues reported on reddit I am not really certain about the usability of the device. Will use it for officework with lot of multitasking...
I’m curious if asus is considering a future zen design incorporating a collapsible top lid such that the keyboard inserts in the optional expansion zone.. Kinda like a marsupium
How you people can do video editing on free vesion of davinchi? Free version never use encoders and decoders. It will use CPU cores so everything will be slow. Always use davinchi resolve studio for smooth and fast editing.
I would love if you could test if the new Huion pen 4.0 works on Kamvas Pro 24 4K even though it's not officially supported. Thank you for all the videos!
I did not test the keyboard battery life. Battery life should not be an issue unless you plan on using it undocked all the time for days. Because when you keep the keyboard with the laptop, it will be charged.
I’m interested to buy this laptop, and viewed your entire review. Very helpful 👍🏻 Can this laptop play a video or movie spanning across the 2 displays?
Not sure. It sounds like a software thing. You can search online for how to play videos fullscreen across two displays. Doesn't have to be specific to this Zenbook laptop
I am a lighting and stage designer, and this laptop seems really interesting to me. Having the second screen makes programming easier, and also helps with stage designs. But I'm curious if the GPU is good for that? Because its not good at games, but maybe is it good for graphic stuff like WYSIWYG or Vectorworks? They recommend a card with at least 8gb VRAM, but i can't find out the amount of VRAM in the Zenbook duo anywhere... Would love to hear your reaction / opinion!
This laptop may not perform well when it comes to rendering 3D. For modeling it should be fine. 3D apps usually benefit noticeably with a dedicated graphics card for rendering.
@@teohontech7141 Thanks for the response! Thats my biggest con about this laptop. I feel like i woud really benefit from the extra screen, but i need a powerful laptop too..
That Lenovo does not have dual screens. Anyway, I've tested many laptops with hinge that can go completely flat, or go behind. How useful it is really depends on individual.
I'm considering switching from a Surface Laptop Studio (the first one with a 3050Ti) to one of these. I don't really game much, but I like to code on my laptop and flip the screen down to do sketching in Clip Studio. Having two screens would be awesome for coding. How do you feel the pen performance is on this device compared to the Surface device?
This laptop is tempting.. but: why are there sooo many logos on it everywhere? That is a major letdown, having those always in the face, especially for creative work.

Use hibernate instead of standby / sleep. That way it doesn't use battery.

That's strange, because I have 3 different laptops and they all lose a lot of energy in sleep state, like you described. how much does the XPS lose?
Do you think if I just run JUMP DEKSTOP will drain the battery drastically too?

Pure Battery from Microsoft app store. Or you can use this free method. www.windowscentral.com/generate-battery-report-windows-10

Not sure about the Intel Arc Graphics for 3D software. You may have to check the specs recommended by the 3D software you use.

Probably not. Usually 8 hours is the max for Windows laptops, and in real life it's usually less.
