Did this once while cleaning a roller bearing I had dropped on the ground. About the time I thought about it having a plastic cage, it let go. That was a good night.
My dad seriously hurt his hand doing that, he dropped it when a bearing flew out and the spinner went shooting across the room as soon as it came in contact with the ground.

Basically, his ears would bleed just by listening to an F1 V10 without earmuffs. Which makes me sad because the time when NA V10s were a thing I couldn't watch it on the track with him.
Ummm I did this but kinda just blew until it was at mac speed and kept it there... took like 10 seconds but it blew up really bad into rice sized pieces the bearings was never found my hand was 99% okay fingers hurt a bit and all else in the world was great... I do beleive it quite literally Shatter in all directions from the g force on it not from the heat of the bearing. But idk it was just what it seemed like based on the way the peices didn't shoot out and more would flung everyone like something minorly spring loaded like a jack in the box or something. ( do it at your own risk ) I was never scared I'd get hurt maybe that's part of why I didn't never know but I'd do it again for sure if I had another fidget spinner.
