Wow! Its so stunning ❤! I have goosebumps! Incredible truly incredible.. the skill. I think you have just inspired me to learn this.. You are a master Sir! 👏🏼
I am a hand weaver, and I have just gotten access to a large tapestry loom for the first time. Now instead of being intimidated I am excited! This video really caught the very mindful 'timeless time' of weaving.(As well as the utter satisfaction of any OCD tendencies the weaver should have!) Thank you!
pffttt...I thought I was a good weaver until I saw his finished product...makes my weavings look like the product of a cat and a ball of yarn...This is beautiful
I am so very moved by the dedication of Mr. Haspel. And for someone who only searched because she wanted to know what weaving a tapestry entailed, I feel I'm already in love with the art.
Wow, I can't help but respect Mr. Haspel for not only making this tapestry, but continuing to make them! I thought my single-crochet scarf was slow, but this would be murder for my patience. There's no way I could sit still long enough to make any progress on a tapestry without starting to twitch. Regardless of my impatience, this is a truly beautiful art form, and I wish the creator the best in preserving and continuing the art of tapestry weaving!
KnitOutTheJams Me too! Are you a weaver? :-) I want to weave the old tapestry's of the 18th century for my walls, in a stone addition to the house. I'm a weaver by trade.
I am very inspired by the work of Noreen Crone Findlay. She was showing the different ways of making those bobbin things. I was wondering how tapestry was done. I myself as a fabric artist....have NEVER watched this art made before. This IS truely AMAZING! I would sooooo love to be in that room watching this artist!
The music was specially composed for the video (i.e. not as part of any unrelated album) -- & recorded on live instruments in the space for which the tapestry was designed.
Tip o' the hat to all who "got it" -- meaning: those who acoustically held through the 10-minute madness ... it was meant to convey all the "insanity" that goes into fabricating such a work of multigenerationally sustainable*/durable art. PS * sustainable in the sense of stil mattering when the current hype has passed ...
Thanks for sharing! Amazing! Most people wouldnt appreciate it. Im about to start one called ON THE WALLABY TRACK, by Australian painter, Frederick MacCubbin.., its the 1/2 size of our dining table..I thought that , that was big. Thanks for the encouragement to gave me! Marietta, Brisbane Australia
Lo he disfrutado plenamente. Felicito al artesano y tambien doy las gracias a la persoan queha subio este video. Me ha permitido saber mas de este arte que intento descrubrir. Saludos desde Cádiz....AndaluCía....
By George, she's/he's got it! IOW the borderline unbearability of the audio track was designed to convey a sense of the incredibly long, borderline mind-numbing process of creating such a "nice" tapestry (that will last for generations to come, time is such a relative dimension). Thank you for the feedback -- Margit
I've watched this many, many times over the years. As a non weaving observer, the music, the order in the room, and the weaving are calming, just sublime. I appreciate so much the work you put into making this video.
I like the dissonant element of the soundtrack...it's fabulous...not so keen on the monotonous guitar though! I've started weaving, thanks for posting.
I didn't find the video or the audio unbearable in any way. I was surprised to find so much physicality and spontaneity in the weaving process, and the percussion added an element of suspense to the repetitive guitar, perhaps suggesting potential accidents or unexpected results in the tapestry. Congratulations to both of you.
im sure he didn't started like this, this is advanced even for me to even try to do it, i would suggest to find and take a tapestry class they'll provide you with all the material if you like it you can keep on your own later or start by making small rugs with homemade tools and if you like it keep buying and adding more professional tools and different techniques.
To get really straight vertical lines you have to do a slit technique. You are bringing two yarns towards each other to a point and then turning back in the other direction. This leaves a slit between the two colors that must be sewn up either as you are weaving or afterwards. This is what he is sewing shut. The sewing is invisible once it is done.
The music was edgey, not calming, and I had to put the volume down, but the focus and dedication of the tapestry artist and his work is beautiful to watch and the results are magnificent - the details gorgeous. Thank you for making the video.
amazing work, love how you captured the technique. But the music is horrible and scary - doesn't fit the topic at all. Had to mute to finish watching your lovely video.
My curiosity lead me to click on this link. But, stayed for the music..... 10 years ago......
I Like His Art Work. Want To. See More.
Amazing craft.
Really Cool Video Want To See More Of These Kind.

Beautiful.. I could never do something this large.. I am the type that will stay up for days until my project is complete..
I weave tapestries, but never on this scale or with this amount of detail. Just gorgeous. Truly gifted. I'm inspired! Thank you for sharing.

I am so inspired. His process takes my breath away.
Great work, you are a artist

This is unbelievably fabulous. There's nothing more I love than watching process videos precisely like this. Thank you so much.

hypnotizing...that's the best word i could find for this video...lovely...calming...
truly magical and inspiring. signed... a long time scarf and rug weaver but a beginning tapestry artist. Loved the sound track. Perfect.

I like the Music... It was in sync with the weaving of a beautiful and well made piece of art!! A Lovely Juxtaposition!
Thank you for this marvelous video! It's a wonderful way to show the world how involved tapestry weaving is!
This is great video and the resulting tapestry is so good! It was so interesting to see how the work came together.
Fantastic and very inspiring! Thank you very much for sharing :-)

Must be so satisfying to see the finished work.
Well done Félix.
Time well spent. It's absolutely, amazingly beautiful. Worthy of being admired for many generations. Very talented artist.
I stumbled upon this video - what an amazing piece of work! I had no idea what went into weaving a tapestry. So beautiful!

just read The Lady and the Unicorn by Tracy Chevalier. Thanks for shedding light on the process that the book was talking about!
Gorgeous, amazing, stunning! Thanks for show us your step by step!
Brilliant, great to see a tapestry of such quality.

Wow!
Yo imagine pessing up after you are dang near done.
Wow!!!

The weaving is so beautiful and soothing to watch, but the music is discordant and painful, sorry. Muted it and enjoyed the visuals.
Yeah, what kind of music do you like...???
OMG you are amazing i would love to learn how to do this fantaic
the one thing they neglected to show was how he treated the warp ends!!! Dangit
This is amazing! Anyone knows what type of loom this is?
I know nothing about weaving. What are the little wooden things connected to the string?
👍👏
wasn't really interested in tapestry weaving... then i saw this! do you dye your own yarn? where did you buy the yarn?
This is breathetaking! Could you tell me, if this is the original Gobelin technique, please?
I need to learn more techniques on tapestry. Professional picture sensory (impressionist art tapestry weaving. Rugs also you tube vedios
Thank you
I would like to give this a try.. but I aint going to spend a lot on money on something I may not like doing for a long time.

why do you change sheds if all in woven manually?
WOW
The artist is Felix Haspel. www.haspel.at
Is the artist weaving from the front or back of the tapestry ?
I feel like this music would play if I was getting murdered
An other nice video
Wow
Amazing!,
Combien de temps vous mettez pour le finir qu'elle patience 👍👌😀
Truly phenomenonal artistry. Though I have to be honest I had to mute the video as the music was awful, but his talent is awe inspiring. Xx
Why is he sewing at around 7:40? What is it he's doing?

how much does a project like this cost?
ask your favorite weaver ;-}
great video but I had to turn down the sound. it was murder on my ears.
I hope he charged nothing less than £20 000 for this tapestry!
How do I contact Mr. Felix Haspel?

Some pretty dissonant music but other than that, gorgeous art
Can do without the music.......but WOW!!!!!! I want to do this!!!!!
how many people are watching this for school
Fantastic weaving artist but the music is so awful and old fashion!
The tapestry is nice but 10 minutes of listening to a guy play an E chord on the guitar is almost unbearable.
amazing work, love how you captured the technique. But the music is horrible and scary - doesn't fit the topic at all. Had to mute to finish watching your lovely video.
