I spotted Eclipsium on your list and actually met the devs in person at the Gothenburg game festival back in September. They're a young team of game dev students, and I made sure to let them know how impressed I was with their game 🎉
I know of another good obscure indie horror game I think you might like: A Happy Place by Ziggity. It was released early last year, but it's coming to steam in a few days.
It would be great if you listed in the video what platforms the games are available on. Alternatively, you could specify in the thumbnail and title if it’s a Steam-only video, otherwise it just generates ill will after wasting people’s time.
Thanks so much for including my game Late Homework in your video! As indies it's easy to get your games buried nowadays, so you have no idea how appreciative we are of things like this. Glad a lot of otherwise unknown titles are getting more attention. Cheers!
Very cool to see a youtuber use their platform to showcase and lift up so many wonderful creations in the indie scene. Indie games really are the beating heart of the game industry right now imo. Thank you for giving me dozens of new games to wishlist!
that montage of 100 indie games you cooked up toward the end of the video had me genuinely emotional, i'm not exactly sure why but perhaps i can just feel the admiration and love pouring throughout this video as well as the majesty of seeing so many personal, beautiful, and varied works of art
Well said.. I feel that it's increasingly rare to find a creator with this level of passion that does not rely on trends, negativity or drama. And the tone and delivery is calm, inviting and pleasan to follow along with. Every video seem to stem from a place of genuine curiosity, passion and love for games. Like all of us gathered here. PS: My watchlist is bursting!
Every day or two, I get a trailer in my recommended for a different novel, stylised, mind-bending indie game coming in the near future. It's like being at an all-you-can-eat buffet, but you can't find a plate.
when i hear people (mostly streamers) saying that there's nothing coming out i'm so weirded out, there's a feast of indies, they're carrying the gaming scene so hard it's insane, i find so many cool games that i fear i don't have enough money for all of them

The 100 upcoming section is wild, so many amazing looking games in there. We really been eating so good on indie games for years now and it seems like it's never gonna stop.
Thank you for covering Anthology of the Killer. Has to be the most underrated game I've played and deserves so much more attention. I loved going through analyzing scenes and being hit by a unique and amazing feeling throughout the whole game. Great video!
While I haven't played through DST yet, I felt much the same way you did after playing through the og Disillusion. It is a disorienting game, able to invoke this feeling of someone who does not belong in this environment. The repeating walls, the strange fights with enemies who sometimes will spout nonsense rather than attack, the hauntingly beautiful music, a story steeped in mystic references, and characters that always seem to know more than you, but are just as lost themselves. It felt like a vivid dream.
The montage at the end feels like someone was studying even the most obscure things in my own steam wishlist. Damn, you even got Studio System: Guardian Angel and Compound Fracture which are games I haven't heard another soul on this planet even acknowledge exist until this video but I've been hyped as heck for for a long while now. Excellent taste, honestly.
Secret Sleepover Society played Late Homework last night after seeing you recommend it and honestly that game looks so spooky and fun; like old school Silent Hill!
I really like your tastes in indie games and the wide coverage that you showcased through the 100 upcoming games. Most indie game channels don't often venture in the realm of 200 and less reviews. great video!
How are you not supposed to wishlist every single game that is presented in this video and await impatiently for all the ones displayed at the end, i don't think i've ever been more excited from watching a single video and much less about videogames, ah if only we all had all the time in the world, brilliant work
Ayyyyy BB in a thumbnail! Loved the 'Of the Killer' series after finding it from AlphaBetaGamer's channel. The people from the Unofficial Discord are gonna love seeing this
Although I already have most of these games wishlisted, it's cool to see that others out there share the same passion and interest for indie gaming as I do and are better able to share them with the wider audience.
Anthology of the Killer is so good and criminally underrated. thecatamites' has a unique writing voice that stands up to the big indie hitters like Toby Fox, and I think fans of Undertale or Night in the Woods would really appreciate it! If there are any fans of classic rpg maker cult hits, the creator was known for making Space Funeral, too. They have a number of other weird and awesome indie games of varying lengths. I would strongly recommend 10 Beautiful Postcards and Murder Dog IV: Trial of the Murder Dog as well.
As a fellow steam discovery queuer (in the 5 figures of games seen and/or ignored!) I end up doing very similar stuff and was pleased to see the stuff from this year and the stuff from the future! Lovely recommendations! Thank you!
I'm glad to see Anthology of the Killer and Beetle Ninja get a shout out. The latter in particular: while the combat is a bit lacking, everything else about the game is so compelling and really clicked with me. It's a shame though: the dev had plans on making a Beetle Ninja 2, but recently he casually mentioned that he's probably abandoned the idea to focus on other games. I am looking forward to another project he's working on called Giggleforce though.
ive been looking for a channel that ACTUALLY covers not only indie games, but legit obscure ones, not just indie games people and journalists will say are "underappreciated" but have over 1,000 reviews on steam, some several thousand lol. there are so many games from the 100 list that i not only never heard of, but VERY much look forward too. and many of those games i know for a fact NOBODY has heard of, so the spotlight in this video i think is something other creators need to take into account. some of the games on the list i already had wishlisted too, and a lot of channels i watch have zero clue to their existence. im very grateful youve done this, because its something ive literally thought about creating an entire channel around, just because theres soooo many indie games in so many places that are truly unique, that arent going to get the spotlight because, tbh, they might be a bit too experimental or they dont closely align with convention, if at all. thats the beauty of art, and why it bugs me that people will say they want truly unique experiences, and then see a game like Disillusion ST and dont know what to make of it, might call it "stupid" or "why would anyone play this?" then they go back and play lame boring 2k or something. never want to take the plunge into something that challenges the very idea of what a video game is to you. i feel like too much of the industry has been inebriated with triple A propaganda around bigger but not really better worlds, or tons of mechanics that really amount to the number of them rather than the depth and complexity of the tools, where games get severely watered down for "accessibility" which in turn makes the game less mechanically rich, and ultimately, no longer unique. imagine if devil may cry removed the style system, and the arcade/fight game sensibilities that make that series unique. it wouldnt be dmc anymore would it? and people dislike dmc for those reasons, especially the technical complexity...but thats exactly why dmc was popular and successful in the first place. thats HOW it formed a fan base and the respect of action game designers the world over. i am a strong believer that not every game, IS, for every gamer. some games are made for specific people and only those people and people who become like them will like it. sadly, those games usually dont sell 10+ million copies, so here we are, unless your Tim Cain and you made Fallout i guess (another good reason as to why you should do what YOU want to do with your game, not what the industry deems as popular). the indie crowd is so important, because games like the ones mentioned in this video, especially the games in the 100 indie section, are n e v e r going to come from major studios, ever again. unless its an overbudgeted product with more flash than substance, more than likely with truncated game mechanics, maybe a gameplay gimmick or two that might hook you a bit, possibly questionable technical performance and quality (bugs/glitches/crashes), and def amped up graphics devoid of style for hyperrealism.
damn that montage at the end is inspiring for gamers but its so intimidating for creators, with this amount of incredible games its gonna be harder than ever to get noticed
I think what I really appreciate is the commitment of showcasing games that I know I would never hear about otherwise. Even if they aren't to my interest or my cup of tea I feel compelled to at least give them a look. It's such a cool showcase of what games can do. Thank you for sharing your findings!
Not nearly enough channels out there covering the interesting and obscure stuff that's always coming out. amazing video, hope to see similar stuff from you in the future. 🙏
The montage was so fun, and makes me super excited to see what you've found going forward! I try to keep my eye out for weird and interesting games, and I've managed to wishlist a few you've mentioned already, but there's no way I'd be able to find anywhere near as many cool titles without your recommendation.
Really great video, loved your top 5, Anthology of the Killer was my favourite from last year. Spent about 30 minutes pausing the end montage because there was so much I added to my wishlist. A fellow steam queue enjoyer! Your taste is a bit different than mine, so it’s wild that despite how many games I feel like I’ve seen and played, there are still so many I have yet to see. Really awesome montage!
Thank you so much for showing love to these underrated games! Hidden indie gems are my favorite "genre" of games. Seeing how much passion and creativity is put in to their projects really does make things so much more beautiful to me. Keep up the great work. I'm looking forward to more of your videos to help add to my everygrowing wishlist!
I'm so happy that people are bringing back that 90's and early 2000's graphical style. I figured that era would be largely ignored because it isn't traditionally considered very pretty to look at, but the vibes are so immaculate. Thanks for the great list!
I actually found Disillusion Street through one of my favourite artists (The artist in question, is YourLocalBreadman), who worked on the game itself. It’s hands down one of the best games I’ve played in years. I broke down into tears on a few occasions while playing. Watching the residents of the Naraka slowly decaying in their memory is absolutely heartbreaking. This game does not get enough coverage, and I’m so glad to see I’m not the only one who loved it!
I saw Elation in the compilation and remembered the exact gag from the demo that told me it would be one of my favourite indie games for the rest of time, it was the forum argument section with all the genuinely unhinged usernames, need that game intravenously
Damn, you made it to the 20,000 mark, I'm only past the 10,000 mark. No wonder you're the only channel really that can actually introduce some new games to me (and similar tastes fr) For upcoming games would have to add citizen sleeper 2, keep driving, dead static drive, afterlove ep, silkbulb test, olliefrog toad skater, broken reality 2000, silly polly beast, outrider mako, skate story, nivalis, wander stars, showa american story, exekiller, greek tragedy, full fathom, hotel galactic, morgan: metal detective, thrasher, nitro gen omega, pathologic 3, bylina, cat detective: albert wilde, the midnight walk, and a lot in vr tbh. I'd have also added Sorry We're Closed to the list of underrated indie games from last year.
These videos are so important to me each year and I want you to know that I love your passion for games so much that it excites me enough to actually check out most of these recommendations!
I've played a lot of incredible indie games this year, and I continue to find more of these amazing games to play. You've given me so much recommendations to play this year.
Loved the video and like you I often have a steam discovery queue issue, but had to pause this video so much near the end to add even more to my wishlist. Great video and got some great ideas for stuff to stream in the future.
I appreciate the weird experimental games a lot more than the bigger studio games lately. They generally stick more with me, and I don't need to spend 100+ hours to beat 1 game as I really don't have the time to do that anymore. One hidden gem I've been enjoying is Stardust Demon. It's a weird ps1 styled metroidvania with pre-rendered graphics a cool soundtrack.
I don't even buy big-name games anymore. It doesn't make sense to. Why spend upwards of $70 USD for a watered-down game made to sell to the broadest audience possible when I could instead use that same money to buy 2 or 3 charming passion projects made specifically for my personal tastes?
I'm glad I'm not the only one who abuses the steam discovery queue quite a bit. At first it was purely out of boredom while my friends and I decided on the next game to play but once you let the algorithm kick in it really does showcase some awesome niche titles I never would've found otherwise.
Lots of good recommendations with a variety of genres and styles. Gonna check out a few from the montage. Great video, excited to see what you do next!
Have you played Sorry we're closed? It's such a gorgeous and polished game, I think you'd love the way it pays hommage to an era of horror video game you review often
Oh wow, that's really nice to know there are people who want to spread as much love to unknown indies as possible, I am surprised that about a half of the upcoming games from the end of the video are known to me, found some nice ones to put in my wishlist too, thank you so much! (personally can't wait for the tower of tears....... also, there's no 'radio the universe' in the ending, or did you cover this one in the past?)
that montage of games at the end made me go "I fucking love video games" the exact opposite way the game awards make me say "do I hate video games?" everytime Is see those
Thank you for mentioning each game title a few times. I often watch videos while editing and some creators say the name once at the beginning and the I have to search for it if it catches my attention.
I love listening to people talk about things they love! I wishlisted all these games, except Late Homework which was already on my wishlist haha. I hope I get to play some of them soon!
Awesome to see a bunch of new indies to try; I'd recommend giving 100 Caliber Contractz (currently a demo, 2000s web style 3d platformer) and Picayune Dreams (vampire-survivor like with 90s cgi kind of style) a look
I've shaped TH-cam to be my discovery queue and it delivers constantly. Thank you for the recommendations especially with this many games I had no clue about.
Proximate looks awesome, just seeing the word 'spine' pop up for a second made me freak out. I think what's great about this format is that there's no chance for you to see the payoff before you're right in front of it, kind of like those old point and clicks where you'd enter a room and there's suddenly something horrible on the screen.
It's cool to see someone bring to light a lot of indies that have been overlooked and aren't given enough traction. Good job, Maria. Now I can add more to my ever growing Steam wishlist. 🤣
Surprised to say I've paid 2 of the upcoming games kickstarters and alrady knew about half of them. Rather than a flex this is a feeling of "finally, I'm out there supporting indie artists more than anything" and I'm glad i am this way.
daaamn, finally a good channel that youtube recommended me, i didnt even watched the full video. Because nearly every game you recommended, looked instantly like something i would play :D
"*unless you have a Steam Discovery Queue problem like I do" Oh.. so I'm not such a weirdo after all Good to know! Given, you have taken the throne long since and I don't have the approach to you just yet really, but it's a bit soothing I'm not the only one knees deep in this habit and also with thousands of positions already gone through Neat video over all, miss indie :3
Every gamers dream, a gamer who knows her games like a DJ knows their music AND is gorgeous. 😍In all seriousness, your writing skills are top tier and your narrator voice is soothing. I hope you continue to cover games for the community for a long time. Your reviews show love to the little guys with huge imaginations!
Wait, is Disillusion ST is on steam? Man, I played it for a little while early last year, but I haven't played much of it since. I should get back to it!
If you haven’t played since earlier last year you’ll be pleasantly surprised to see just how much was added with the full release, get back to it dude!
Late Homework is SOOOOOO good. However, it was the limited lives and stalker monster mechanics that deterred me from finishing it. My favorite section is probably the intro hour and all the tension that came with it. It was honestly a perfect buildup. I wish the rest of the game leaned a little more into this rather than becoming another stalker monster game, but I get that there's still a wide appeal to that formula.
With all these wonderful games, I feel like the guy from the old meme struggling to hold too many oranges! Thanks so much for putting them on my radar!

ive been looking for a channel that ACTUALLY covers not only indie games, but legit obscure ones, not just indie games people and journalists will say are "underappreciated" but have over 1,000 reviews on steam, some several thousand lol. there are so many games from the 100 list that i not only never heard of, but VERY much look forward too. and many of those games i know for a fact NOBODY has heard of, so the spotlight in this video i think is something other creators need to take into account. some of the games on the list i already had wishlisted too, and a lot of channels i watch have zero clue to their existence. im very grateful youve done this, because its something ive literally thought about creating an entire channel around, just because theres soooo many indie games in so many places that are truly unique, that arent going to get the spotlight because, tbh, they might be a bit too experimental or they dont closely align with convention, if at all. thats the beauty of art, and why it bugs me that people will say they want truly unique experiences, and then see a game like Disillusion ST and dont know what to make of it, might call it "stupid" or "why would anyone play this?" then they go back and play lame boring 2k or something. never want to take the plunge into something that challenges the very idea of what a video game is to you. i feel like too much of the industry has been inebriated with triple A propaganda around bigger but not really better worlds, or tons of mechanics that really amount to the number of them rather than the depth and complexity of the tools, where games get severely watered down for "accessibility" which in turn makes the game less mechanically rich, and ultimately, no longer unique. imagine if devil may cry removed the style system, and the arcade/fight game sensibilities that make that series unique. it wouldnt be dmc anymore would it? and people dislike dmc for those reasons, especially the technical complexity...but thats exactly why dmc was popular and successful in the first place. thats HOW it formed a fan base and the respect of action game designers the world over. i am a strong believer that not every game, IS, for every gamer. some games are made for specific people and only those people and people who become like them will like it. sadly, those games usually dont sell 10+ million copies, so here we are, unless your Tim Cain and you made Fallout i guess (another good reason as to why you should do what YOU want to do with your game, not what the industry deems as popular). the indie crowd is so important, because games like the ones mentioned in this video, especially the games in the 100 indie section, are n e v e r going to come from major studios, ever again. unless its an overbudgeted product with more flash than substance, more than likely with truncated game mechanics, maybe a gameplay gimmick or two that might hook you a bit, possibly questionable technical performance and quality (bugs/glitches/crashes), and def amped up graphics devoid of style for hyperrealism.

What is the song/music in the upcoming indie games list section?. It has finally stuck in my head after several videos using it 😅
iirc it’s Super Galdelic Hour - Staff Roll!
@eurothug4000 Thanks
Thank you for the video. Indie games are often wonderful, but too numerous. I appreciate you're work to help find the diamonds in the rough.
Damn, you made it to the 20,000 mark, I'm only past the 10,000 mark.
No wonder you're the only channel really that can actually introduce some new games to me (and similar tastes fr)
For upcoming games would have to add citizen sleeper 2, keep driving, dead static drive, afterlove ep, silkbulb test, olliefrog toad skater, broken reality 2000, silly polly beast, outrider mako, skate story, nivalis, wander stars, showa american story, exekiller, greek tragedy, full fathom, hotel galactic, morgan: metal detective, thrasher, nitro gen omega, pathologic 3, bylina, cat detective: albert wilde, the midnight walk, and a lot in vr tbh.
Well, that really was indie games I have basically never heard of before! :o Added one to my wishlist, and beetle ninja right to my library! ^w^
I don't even buy big-name games anymore. It doesn't make sense to. Why spend upwards of $70 USD for a watered-down game made to sell to the broadest audience possible when I could instead use that same money to buy 2 or 3 charming passion projects made specifically for my personal tastes?
Thanks for the 100 upcoming indies! Had to pause many many times to add amazing stuff I had never seen before to my wishlist.
Amazing video, great coverage, loved the splatter reel of upcoming games at the end, I’m gonna have so much to play!!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who abuses the steam discovery queue quite a bit. At first it was purely out of boredom while my friends and I decided on the next game to play but once you let the algorithm kick in it really does showcase some awesome niche titles I never would've found otherwise.
Great picks: hope to someday make the list!
I can't believe you made me go through all those upcoming indie games and wishlist them, so many game, so little time 😭 I WANT TO PLAY THEM ALL
Lots of good recommendations with a variety of genres and styles.
Loved Proximate, and Anthology of the Killer became one of my favorite games ever. Gotta look up the rest, they all look intriguing!
I hope you make another video like this next year, I really liked this video and added a ton new indie game to my wish list. Thanks!
I played anthology of the killer and it genuinely changed my life for the better :) everyone play it NOW
Awesome to see a bunch of new indies to try; I'd recommend giving 100 Caliber Contractz (currently a demo, 2000s web style 3d platformer) and Picayune Dreams (vampire-survivor like with 90s cgi kind of style) a look
This was an interesting watch as always and I look forward to the future of these indie titles!
I've shaped TH-cam to be my discovery queue and it delivers constantly. Thank you for the recommendations especially with this many games I had no clue about.
I've been following Disillusion ST for a little over a year now, glad to see it being covered here. Other games mentioned look pretty great too.
another amazing video always cool seeing a person such as yourself that deserves more love making a vid bout indies that deserve more love
Ugh I'm so happy that PSX style has completely and thoroughly captured indie devs. It's so satisfying. I would love to help model some one day.
Wake up, babe! New eurothug video!! 🗣🗣
Thank you for the video! Loved your 90's aesthetics preference for games and will definitely see them! Thank you once again! ❤
My wishlist shot up by 70 games from this video alone.
I don't think I've ever played 70 games in a year 🥺
Great video as usual. Thank you for bringing so many unique little games and experiences into more people's view.
Great vid, just wanted to throw in Nightmare Operator as another title to add to the list
We made it 🙏
It's cool to see someone bring to light a lot of indies that have been overlooked and aren't given enough traction.
"*unless you have a Steam Discovery Queue problem like I do"
Oh.. so I'm not such a weirdo after all
Good to know!
Given, you have taken the throne long since and I don't have the approach to you just yet really, but it's a bit soothing I'm not the only one knees deep in this habit and also with thousands of positions already gone through
Neat video over all, miss indie :3
11:31 oh no, they have Triple Triad in my indie game
Yep, I had to pause the video when I saw it and scrolled to see if anyone else noticed lol. The theme song started playing in my head instantly. 😂
It just got the full release
@@NoName-vq6cg Oh, dope!
If you haven’t played since earlier last year you’ll be pleasantly surprised to see just how much was added with the full release, get back to it dude!
@@NoName-vq6cg Oh, fr? Hell yeah!
@@oraclewithaz Yeah, I'm thinking I'll get the full release and sink some time into it!
I jumped out of my seat when I saw dissilusion in the thumbnail glad you talked about it :)
Excelent video! I love learning about new weird games, also my discovery queue is fubar too lol
anthology of the killarrrrrrrr
With all these wonderful games, I feel like the guy from the old meme struggling to hold too many oranges! Thanks so much for putting them on my radar!
