Just buying a victorian terraced property and always wanted to do my own loft conversion. Watching your videos has given me a step by step guide on the things I was unsure about, especially the staircase! Definitely going to give it a go now, cheers!
Just bear in mind building regulations (if you are doing it as a habital room) as they are getting tighter so headroom can be an issue on some properties by the time you've added bigger joists and thick insulation. Best of luck with it.
U done a great job there pal, I have just fitted my stairs too the attic a few weeks ago.its easier ordering the stairs from a company than trying too make them urself. There's always little fiddley bits too work out when fiitng them. Looks good.keep up the good work...

Wow, really looking smart mate. I am In the middle of doing fake paneling with dado rail up the stairs and round on to landing. Also replacing hand rail and spindles on landing including newel post and half newel post. So your calculations for spindles will be very helpful.

The bull nose step is set into the post (cnc machined) which allows the weight to be transferred through the step which is thick plywood. But in later vids you'll see I extend the landing floor slightly under the post also. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching 👍
bit of a silly question...You know where the bottom of the stairs cut a corner in front of the door frame on your 1st floor...Is that ok with building regs?
If you mean where it juts out onto the landing? Yes it's ok, but always speak to building control as they all have slightly different take on things, and it's in the context of your home which are all different. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
Just realised you meant the underside of the stairs, Again, it's down to the height and how far its cuts across. Check with building control if in doubt. Or if you're not doing it through building control then it's up to you I guess!

Best check with your local officer, but mine were happy to check things as and when they were done. Although it's been finished for ages, I haven't actually submitted my electrical certs for final sign off yet so hope it's still valid!
Great job Mr Pouse. Just a couple of questions please. What size masonry screws did you use into securing staircase into the wall and were the holes already pre drilled into the side of the staircase by the stair manufacture. Thanks. Keep up the great vids.
I can help here! They were 7.5mm by about 80mm, maybe 100. We drilled the holes in the Stair case but they were under the stairs so weren't seen. Pre-drill with a 6mm wood drill bit. Run a long masonry drill straight through and into the masonry to the depth required. Then ran the screws in. I learned the hard way how invaluable hoovering the laths first is. Ended up having to redecorate the landing
