Retro game shopping and bar hopping sounds like an amazing day out! That store should be a museum, what a collection!

It's a shame you didn't visit the Museum of Computing while you were there, would have loved to have seen that. Appreciated that you did a lot of slow moves over the stuff in the cabinets at the shop so we could see what's on offer!

That store just blew me away. We have some retro stores here in Kansas but nothing that had the selection there, if only I could walk into a store with that kind of Dreamcast selection " But then I spend way too much" another great video so again my thanks for the fun.

Hi from Mexico, Lydia. Thanks for sharing your experience. In Mexico, we can find all kinds of retro games at flea markets called 'Tianguis,' and I've never seen that kind of store with so many items in perfect condition before. I loved the video. Thanks!

3:50 I had to sell a collection of games and consoles to Pete as I was moving and needed both the space and money. A load of those DS games that are stood up are titles I'd sold to him!

I wish i still had my dreamcast. I loaned it to a friend and then he ended up losing it when he moved to a new place. I had it to play star wars jedi power battles. Great video, i would also be overwhelmed with so many choices.

Amazing video, Lydia! Being a local of Swindon I try to visit here as often as I can, Pete is an absolute legend and really welcoming. Give him a heads up next time and he'll put the kettle on!
The shopping centre with the Steam loco used to be what's known as "Swindon Works" - basically where lots of Steam locos were built "back in the day!" If you ever visit the museum, also check out the local heritage railway which has running steam trains most weekends.
Keep up the great videos, look forward to the next!

    • @Lydgendary
      @Lydgendary  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Definitely will! This was my first visit so completely didn't know what to expect but was recommended it by a few people but it was still better than I expected.
The history of Swindon is really interesting, I keep meaning to visit the museum too, maybe next time!
And thank you! Planning on going to Cardiff next!

It's been a while but as per great vid Lyd and Ant! That pizza has made me really hungry like last time you were out on a game hunt and had burgers. Wow that store is amazing, probably the biggest and best you've ever showcased. Sadly my days of scouting are over cos I've got an emulator. Partly cos I'm lazy, partly cos I wanted 60 consoles and 117000 retro games all in one place and partly for the cash and space savings. Loving what you do and keep on keeping on you two ❤

The random steam train is because those buildings and the whole site was a massive railway hub and most if not all Swindons "heritage" cna be linked back to the railway and the work and people it brought to it, random fact for ya 😅

What a find! I've only been to Swindon twice, once for the Oasis leisure centre and once for the football (am sure Ant can appreciate the latter).
I'm guessing that shop wasn't there back then since the games you showcased here would've been contemporary at the time rather than retro. 😅😅

I had Fantasia Consoles back in the 90’s in the same building and traded for around 12 years. I mainly did import megadrive/snes . We saw quite a few console launches N64/ps1/Panasonic 3do/Atari Jaguar/Gamecube to name a few. In 1999 a family member was taken seriously ill and I had to close the shop. 16 years later I reopened as Retro Games HQ 😊

@@retrogameshqswindon9237 Cheers for the extra info! Sorry to hear about the temporary loss of the shop and the reason behind it, but glad to know you were able to revive it eventually.
Pity I missed the shop the first time around as I'd have loved that when I was younger but as I say, the family didn't venture from Somerset to Swindon often at all.
