Just reusing my post. Public service announcement - eating raw chicken is really dangerous, don't try this at home!
Eating raw chicken is a good way to get seriously ill or even die because of Salmonella poisoning, You've got to cook it properly first before eating to kill off the Salmonella bacterium.
"Salmonellosis is a potentially fatal disease caused by salmonella, bacteria that can often be found in the intestines of animals, including chickens. The symptoms caused by salmonella can start between 12 hours and 72 hours after eating infected chicken and can include diarrhea, stomach cramps and fever."

The two choices I find most bizarre, especially for a superhero parody/comedy, is 1) why not have the smart scientist character be more of an opposite to McCarthy, make her shy and scrawny and completely straight-laced to highlight the contrast between the two, and 2) why not reverse the powers, so the strong boorish one gets invisibility and the shy, scrawny nerdy type gets super-strength. This way they both have to completely change their approach to things and it naturally plays into the theme of reconciliation as they are forced to essentially walk in the other person's shoes, McCarthy having to be sneaky and subtle while the scientist character has to be proactive and aggressive.
It's probably because they wanted to cast McCarthy's pal, but it feels like they missed the most obvious comedy setups. McCarthy plays the same dumb, obnoxious character over and over again. This film could have had the perfect excuse to have that character be forced to not behave like that, which probably would have been funnier than McCarthy's entire filmography.

    • @CyphersBasement
      @CyphersBasement 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

This would have been a really good idea, considering these movies try pushing this idea of growth, and your suggestions would've forced the characters to break out of their comfort zone. It would've provided naturally funny ideas because the contrast between personalities having powers that don't lend themselves well to the personalities wielding them lends itself well to comedy, BIG time.

@@markparkinson6947 You are mistaken, Sammy has every right to blame humanity, because I as a retired civilian Paramedic in NYC have seen ppl as they are, not as the want to be seen. Human Nature, over and over as I thought I saw the worst of us, nope, there was always something that made me lower the bar just a little more.
What you think you see as authentic, is just smoke and mirrors of ppl. Netflix, btw lost a major portion of its market cap, so they are going out of business, they just don't realize it yet. No more will the ppl with money: mostly legacy males, support orgs and corps that promote their untimely deaths. FINALLY!
So unless Netflix can live solely on the fund transfers our gov't gives to all propaganda producers (illegitimate gov't needs propaganda after all to maintain the status quo ante), put a fork in it, they are done.

@@jeffreyspinner5437 It is true that human beings can be horrible people, and have proven themselves to be, time and time again. But there are also good and kind people who exist in all shapes and sizes. There are mothers and fathers who take the time to look after their sons and daughters, that help feed them and clothe them. There are hospitals to help take care of the sick. Orphanages to house parentless children. Foundations and charities that helps people suffering from all kinds of problems, whether it be physical, financial or otherwise.
More relevantly, going back to the topic, I fail to see what this discussion about humanity as a whole relates to two comedy superhero franchises, one that Sammy hates and another that the Sammy loves. Sammy has generalized an entire species of people simply because some of them decide to release/cancel a media project that he hates/loves, and I disagree with the assessment that all humans are bad because of the media franchises he mentioned, their fates and the business decisions involving them.
If there was some common theme between Thunder Force and Venture Bros regarding the nature of humanity and how horrible/nice they are, that you have noticed, then feel free to chime in, because I would be more interested in that kind of conversation.

@@markparkinson6947 Well, if you pass by one, tell me about it, because being good is not on one day, but a life choice, and I haven't met that person, young/old, male/.../female, any race or ethnicity.
I live in NYC, and I thought when I was younger that I could find a non-hostile family oriented female, if I tried searching the world's races and ethnicities because I thought it was a cultural thing... lucky for me, they'd all come to me(!)
I failed. What I found was that after at most 3 years in country, the propaganda was installed and they were all stone cold killas.
Btw, overall, my legacy race women were no where close to the optimal female type in any dimension in my research of tongue lashing ladies.
I've found the japanese woman the optimal female phenotype and the mainland chinese (before they all got rich), the optimal female personality. That woman _knew_ she was equal to her man, but didn't punish him or soul crush him. She could still honor him for him, without feeling diminished in any way. Imagine that! She also told me once, that she wouldn't teach me chinese, because as a barbarian she didn't want me to get frustrated trying to do something I couldn't understand. She told me languages of ppls were based on the average intelligence of the group, so so sry, I may not measure up.
So I banged her again, and asked again. She started with teaching me how to count to 10.
So I decided, given I wasn't allowed surrogacy, because I'm a normie, to marry a hispanic woman who was a youth pastor. She was very young, and I was married for 14 years 3 of them good, the rest I stayed trying to get my sons mentored and undamaged.
I didn't know about Overseas Surrogacy: Pay One Price, not forever and with your soul! I suggest any man considering having children go that route. Everything under contract with a sunset of liability with the delivery of the child. Not like your wife is gonna be childcare, don't be a ding a ling, that doesn't happen: spoilers!
I failed. She went from youth pastor to after about 8 years of married and demanding more and more, I told her to go to college and get a job, the kids are old enough. I told her to go to college BEFORE we had kids, but she made my life hell until I plugged the hole.
After about a year of commuting to community college she evolved into a Luciferian Lesbian Wiccan. I shite you not. To this day she and her coven send me "death" spells (about 6 years now) which apparently don't work (I sure wish they did!)
You'd think that should be the best possible chance at success, right? Hispanics are/were about 15 years behind the dissolution of the family, so more family oriented, and you'd think given her need to help ppl, she would help herself, or her family.
      Nope.
Say what you want, and believe what you want, I'm not here to change anyone's beliefs or opinions, I'm just reporting my results because each time I do so, it becomes just a little less painful.
      Stay safe.

@@jeffreyspinner5437 I’m sorry you had to go through that. Sounds like quite a journey for you, dude. Explains how pessimistic you are of humanity in general.
I’m not sure about you, but when I mentioned how there are mothers and fathers who love their children, I am one of these children. Both of my parents are extremely kind people towards me, and even if we disagree with each other, we are still affectionate towards each other, as well as the other animals we take care of, our pets. I guess that explains my optimism and you with your pessimism towards humanity.
And yeah, I can only imagine how heartbreaking it must have been for you, to form such a loving relationship with that Asian woman you mentioned, only to abandon you for a religion that she and the religion she is a part of constantly wishing death on you.
And hey, even with all their death spells that they wish upon you, be glad that it hasn’t worked! You mention you are a retired paramedic, right? That’s probably a huge part of the karma keeping you alive! You, yourself are an example of a good human being also, willing to put the time and effort into other people’s lives to help get them to the nearest hospital, an example of a good in humanity!
So how about this recommendation from me. You don’t have to follow it, of course, but it’s a suggestion from one good human being to another.
“If you can’t get over something, life eventually will. And when life goes on, so does time. And time can heal wounds in ways you have never expected. It may not always happen, but you can make it happen.”

On a more serious note, I think the reason so many scripts feel like first drafts is that they probably practically are. So much stuff gets pitched and picked up before any sort of real script is written nowadays, combined with quick production times, writing an actual solid script is basically secondary to the "artistic" process. For instance, here's what the wiki says about this movie:
"On March 29, 2019, it was reported that Netflix had greenlit a superhero comedy film entitled Thunder Force to be written and directed by Ben Falcone, with Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer as lead roles.
Principal photography began September 25, 2019 in Atlanta, Georgia and wrapped on December 10, 2019"
I'm sure the pandemic was the cause of any delays there. The important part is you go from "to be written" in March to filming five months later. Man, maybe Falcone can finish the Game of Thrones books! (And get Dan and Dave off the hook for ruining it...)

the problem is (IMO) that film has now been around for about 120 years, and the current film makers are only "learning" from other film makers rather then classic story tellers. Kind of like copying a VHS tape to another VHS tape etc, if your old enough to know how that turns out.

They just cancelled your ability to share passwords with family and friends as well. So there's that. Frankly, I don't know why they allowed it in the first place. Never heard of Tammy. Never heard of The Boss. Never heard of Life of Party. I might have seen a promo for this in a theatre before the actual movie movie promos began. I'm familiar with it only because Critical Drinker tore it apart. I will always only remember Melissa "Spicy" McCarthy fondly as Sean Spicer insulting everyone from a motorized podium. That was good sh!t! LOL

It would have made more sense that the genetic mutation was rare and it caused a lack of empathy and or sanity. Like it gave you super powers but it took your humanity therefore being a curse and a plague. The pony character Trixie Lulamoon returned with an amulet that boosted her Unicorn powers 10fold but literally drove her insane to the point that the traveling magician who lived in a wagon she pulled herself said "Trixie does not trust wheels!".
That would have been a better premise. But maybe too close to X-men only The Brotherhood of Mutants are the only faction who see their powers as a gift. At that point humanity would be genocided though. So maybe there is no fixing this movie.

You have no idea how much I hate that moment where Octavia Spencer says not to throw the bus and Melissa McCarthy yells she can't hear because she's literally throwing a bus and after that says it's on her. Yeah, no shit it is. It's typical of this movie and her movies in general these days. Lots of yelling half formed jokes or horrible ad libs. If a joke doesn't work, just yell louder and keep yelling till something happens or you drop dead because you failed to make a joke funny before you died from oxygen depravation.
