- Hello! We have been renovating our vintage RV, Harvey, for over six months. In this video, we are going to break down all the costs and expenses to give you a better understanding of just how much money it takes to pull off a project like our DIY motorhome restoration. The total amount we spent was a little shocking to us. Whether you're planning a rehab of a travel trailer, fifth wheel, caravan, camper van, or Class C motorhome like Harvey, this is a video you won't want to miss!

OMG that has to be one of the funniest intros I've ever seen! Awesome! I'll still be laughing tomorrow
Thank you so much, and Curly Bob says thanks too! We appreciate you watching and commenting! 🎉
You guys are just great! Love your sense of humor and your skills. Can’t believe you spent $15k, but the memories, future good times and your build content is all worth it.
Thank you so much! We're looking forward to more adventures with Harvey and our other projects. Thanks for watching!
So considering the total you guys spent on Harvey as to purchasing a move-in ready RV (and I’m sure you could easily double that total with labor costs if you hadn’t done all the work yourselves) you have an amazing class C for a fraction of the price you’s have paid for one at a dealer. Plus you guys have the satisfaction of having done all that work yourselves which was no small accomplishment …. So kudos to the retro revivals team!!❤🎉
Thank you!!! 🎉🎉🎉
ماشاءالله
Good job and nice video.
Thanks for the comment 🎉
That was so funny! Thank you for your honesty with the costs. It happens on every one of our projects too. But, it’s only money, right!?! Now we need a video of Curly Bob’s out takes! Haha
Thank you!! So, unfortunately, there aren't really outtakes for Curly Bob but that would've been great! We had planned out a few ideas on paper then Tyler disappeared into the basement for an hour with the camera and emerged with Curly Bob footage 😂😂
Now there's a shirt I bet people will buy. Curly Bob's Used RV's over Curly Bob's face and DANG NAB! below.
Good idea 😉. Thanks 😁
I'm shocked and surprised that you did not include the "fashion" category. 😂😂 We are right there with you. Spent $3,000 on a "nice" camper and over $2500.00 so far to make it useable. Water damage, rot, leaks, wasted space, etc. Appreciate y'all sharing your journey, and learned about eterna-kote from ya's, as well as the right kind of exterior paint to use. Hoping to get our camper, "Eddie" on the road in the spring.
Yes, FASHION was $33! How could we forget that?!? It's mandatory to look your best when doing a project like this.
Money well spent, but most of all the memories you guys have made, keep up the great content. Can't wait for the next one
Thank you so much! We really appreciate your support and encouragement 💚
$1,900 for all appliances including AC doesn’t sound bad at all.
The main cost was the AC unit. Thankfully we were able to get scratch and dent sale fridge and the other items from Amazon.
Great intro👏👏😂 and ending. 😅 You all did a great job on this do over. Wonderful you two are as handy as you are, just huge. You didn’t go crazy on buying new stuff, redid where you could, good buys to make it homey. It turned out beautiful, great first time rig. Thinking someone will find it perfect for that amount. Many folks who are looking for alternatives to stick and brick housing, will find that’s a good deal.
Thanks! We appreciate the comment! We're looking forward to more adventures with Harvey and our other projects. Thanks for watching!
So that's about 22 Gs CDN; I would give you $25,000 CDN for that, especially because the reno is totally documented. Ask $40,000 US, as if you see all the Class A disasters that went for $500,000 USD, yours blows it away if the size is right for the buyer...
It would be great to get that kind of price for it... if we ever decided to part ways. For now, we're hoping to get a few trips out of it 💚 Thanks for watching! 🎉
It is scary how expensive it is to repair or renovate old campers. Hoping if you spent that much, everything is tip top shape. New ones are $100,000 so at $15k, you probably did ok, if you are using it. If someone else did tge work, it would cost you $50,000 for a $15k motor home.
Yes, thankfully we're partially handy and able to figure things out as we go. We definitely wouldn't be able to afford to have someone do all the work!
well after watching ya'll redo the whole RV I'd say what you spent was well worth it....if you went and bought new it'd be a lot more than that and with cheaper lighter materials....cheaper where it counts too...like insulation furniture and just the wood in the skeleton! I'd say you did good...and the fact that you bought as you went you didn't have the "hurt" of choking up 15 plus grand...heck who knows when your twins graduate one of them may just take it to live in as a tiny house....you never know!
Agreed, now if we could just get out to be a bit more reliable. We're coming home from a trip now that we had planned to take Harvey but couldn't at the last minute. For sure I could see one of the kids trying to adopt Harvey as a home. Not a bad idea really 👍🏼👍🏼
Wow such a great deal, Curly Bob is one heck of a salesman, however I would like to buy something from him and just can't seem to find him anywhere.....LOL!
He seems to be one of those fly by night salesman. He'll probably pop up somewhere again. Keep your eye out 😉.
You should really have two spares. If either tire on the dual wheels blows out, it will take the other tire with it. In addition, you need a one inch drive battery powered impact and at least two impact sockets to go with it. Also, get spare lug nuts and studs. Do you have a jack capable to lift the camper. Make yourself a 24”x24” wooden pad to put under the jack.
Lastly, good job getting rid of the gas absorption fridge. They are the number one cause of fires in campers.
We try to plan for some contigencies. While no doubt we don't have them all covered I do pack a tool kit see us through most of them. There's not a lot of extra room so we have to plan accordingly 😉
Still less money than a new RV of that caliber , plus that old 440 will pass anything on the highway !!
Thanks so much for the comment! We meant to mention the high cost of even used RVs but got distracted by Curly Bob and forgot to mention that. We appreciate you watching!
I had a 7x16’ enclosed cargo trailer that I loved, but had stopped using. I did a budget to convert it to a camp trailer. I got up to $10,000 in materials so scrapped that idea and bought a new camper. There’s no easy cheap way out. It was easier but cost 3x as much and we’ve had some minor issues that are very frustrating.
Dang, that's expensive. We think it would be fun to try to convert something like that but the costs sure do add up quickly!
$15,800. You can buy a reletively newer one from a dealer for that price. HOWEVER. Nothing you buy will be in the condition that yours is in. None will have the memories that you have. And like yours, all will need minor fixes along the way. Just enjoy it.
Thank you! We are really looking forward to getting some use out of it in the coming year.... need to balance out all of the long days of work with a little relaxation and fun here and there! Thanks for continuing to watch and comment; we appreciate your support!
Ok you guys rocked out the rebuild,,,,as far as what you spent ,LORD I WISH I WAS THERE !!!LOL,, I put 5 G just in the wheels and brakes , oil change ect! As for solar we wont get into that and I still cant get it to work,,,and tonight it wont start,,Sheesh ,,but you guys did a great job , the rv looks amazing! Now come help me ,,lol merry Xmas to you and the family! Cant wait to see what you guys do with the van,,
Thank you and Merry Christmas to you too. Good luck with your project! We'll get into solar on the van build so maybe you can give us a few pointers from what you learned.
MERRY CHRISTMAS guys! Love curly Bob! lol I think you have a pretty sweet ride for 15g…. Well done you!❤️🇨🇦
Thank you so much and Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄
Great renovation!! Your expenses are money well spent. Looking at new and "gently used'" RVs, your investment is justified. Try to find a recently manufactured RV/camper without water damage is difficult. Probably worth the extra money on some of the newer campers that are wood-free and use metal framing. Nice TH-cam channel!
Thanks so much for the comment! We appreciate you watching. Glad you enjoy the channel 🎉🎉🎉
Wet my pants this was so funny!!!!!! Thanks for sharing......Happy Holidays to you and your cute family. Have you a salvage company where you could find parts for the same camper. I watch a RV renovation company and they send out a gentleman to find parts from similar vehicles to save $$$$. They are also able to keep it vintage. Love Harvey.....can't wait for Hannah?
Well sorry about your pants but so glad you enjoyed the video! Unfortunately we don't have a salvage yard close by but there are some in Indiana we're hoping to check out. It's a really good idea especially for the Holiday Rambler. Thanks for watching!
15K sounds like a lot, when you consider what a new one goes for... that's a steal.
And when it breaks, you will have good chance of fixing it yourself avoiding mechanic's fees.
Great points! We meant to mention the costs of new ones but got distracted by Curly Bob and forgot 😆 Were looking forward to some road trips for sure!
Ok! But what RV will you get for 16,000$?
True story!
I have a 1976 Dodge Air Cruiser too! I love mine ❤
No way, that's awesome! Feel free to send any lessons you've learned our way!
This was VERY informative. Im 19 trying to get out of my house hold and an rv seems like my best option, you have a saved me butt loads of research! Now just to find a c class rv XD
That's awesome! Good luck achieving your goal 💚
Ok, so it is like buying anything used. Figure you are going to put more into the repairs than new. At 15,000 you still are cheaper than even most truck campers and you know what you have. As long as the engine holds out, you are ok. But thanks for being honest enough to tell what it really costs instead of fudging the figures. Merry Christmas.
It was more than we thought going into this but it is what it is now 😁 We're living Harvey and looking forward to talking him on some adventures. And, yes, just going the engine holds up! Thanks for watching!
Guy's $15K will not buy you much of an RV these days and for sure wont' buy you one with all the new stuff you now have like AC, water heater, furnace etc. Getting that out of it might be a stretch but I bet you could get close to the right person. You didn't do it for the resale but to use so I think you did good. To me, and I have owned 5 different RV's over the last 25 or so years, I would never give up my propane appliances, not a chance and I live in Texas. If I lived in a cold climate then even more desire to keep it. You can not beat propane heat and cooking, also the water heater recovery is awesome not to mention loose power and all that stuff will still work with a good common battery. Oh well, you will figure out if you did good on that or not. I will say that I prefer a towable, its much cheaper to use a nice little older truck which is much easier to work on typically and insure etc and then just pull a trailer behind which would be cheaper to maintain and insure not to mention you have a vehicle to drive when you get to where your going and don't have to unhook to go somewhere or tow or drive another vehicle to use and you can use the truck even when not RVing.
Yes! We were actually going to mention how high the prices are on even used motorhomes but forgot... oops, lol. With getting rid of the propane, it is more limited now but we've typically been more of summertime campground people so it shouldn't be a big issue for us; might affect resale though if we ever try to sell it. There are definitely advantages of pull behind trailers. We're excited to get working on the Holiday Rambler! Thank you so much for the comment and for your support! Have a Merry Christmas!
I could not help but notice that you painted the break calipers in your montage. Incredible, nice touch. It is now on the same level as a Bugoti, or Farerri. Nice attention to detail! Huzzah!!!
All of our calipers from here on out will need to be teal 😂
Love your videos and Harvey. You did a great job. May God bless you.
Thank you so much!😊
Such a good job on it though. It looks great and we know it's free of mold, poop, and furries.
Oh yes, it even smells good now too! Thank you.
Wow! Watching Curly Bob's smooth sales pitch, I almost started ovulating. & I'm a guy!!
Merry Christmas, Christy, Tyler, Ella & Jack. Thank you for an enjoyable series. Can't wait to do some more mechanicking in the New Year
Hahaha 🤣🤣 Wow! We knew Curly Bob was smooth but didn't know he'd possibly have that affect on people. Thanks again for watching!
I have that hoodie, only it’s Colorado 😂 great job, guys.
Hoodie twins! Thanks for watching!
You guys are great. Why don't RV makers build to avoid water damage?
Great question, job security I guess! Thanks for watching! 🎉🥳
Still 30K lower than a decent used RV. You did well.
Thanks! We meant to mention how expensive even used RVs are these days but got distracted by Curly Bob 😆 Thanks for watching!
Dang nab! Not too shabby when you compare to buying new
So true!
Great video thanks guys
Glad you enjoyed it!
Merry Christmas to you and family
Merry Christmas! 🎄🎄🎄
That was funny right there, lol
😂😂
Fountain Tire in Leduc, Alberta, Canada, Has 50 in stock of the 16.5 tires.
Seems like they're getting harder to find these days.
@@retrorevivals You know you have to change your speed o gear in the trans.
HAHAHA!!!! Curly Bob, how many retakes of that? I would have been laughing every time. No poo haha... That total may be a shocker but think about the fact with all the upgrades in it, it's worth a lot more.
Curly Bob was fun to put together for you! Truth be told, we scratched down some ideas and then Tyler disappeared into the basement for about an hour and Crazy Curly Bob was born 😂
@@retrorevivals Love it!!!
Well dang dab, that's a lot, but given that you now have this classic RV that's road worthy and usable, that's probably not too bad. Was it worth it? Like anything, it's worth whatever somebody is willing to pay for it. Resale may or may not be great, but for continued content on the Tube with your family, it's priceless. Not everything can be measured in dollars and cents. It's also definitely true, there's always one more thing that you can add or upgrade to put more money into it. Is it ever worth it...who knows. If it makes for a more comfortable and enjoyable time using it, then probably. If you compare HaRVey to a pole barn, that money wouldn't even get you the slab to build it on. At least with HaRVey, it got you a whole usable mobile dwelling you can use for all kinds of fun and exciting TH-cam adventures!!
All good points and things we tell ourselves too 😁. It has been a fun project and we're really hoping to get some good use out of it this summer! You're right about the poke barn though! We'll show an update soon but we are going to move forward with building one. It should solve a lot of storage problems around here and provide us with more of an opportunity to work on these old gems. Thanks for your comment, hope you have a Merry Christmas 🎄
@@retrorevivals Merry Christmas to HaRVey the RV and all the retro revivalists!!
Great job for 15k.. only thing think u should have went with on-demand water heater.. think they $400 from camping world
Thanks for the comment! We considered on-demand but don't have propane and didn't read the best reviews on the electric ones we were considering. We'd like to try one on another project soon!
👍
The best intro eva!! 😂😅😂😅
Haha, yaaaay! 🏆🏆 Thanks for the comment!
Love that video! DANG NAB!
Thanks so much! 💚
What are you asking for the tires?
Tyler's thinking we might want to hang on to one or two but if you're interested in some, can you email us? retrorevivals76@gmail.com
I can't wait to see what you guys do next
Thanks! We're taking a few days off to spend with family then we'll be back at it soon. Thanks for watching!
It looks really nice at least
Thank you!
Hi from Manitoba, just finished a Harvey marathon. Loved your videos, really great viewing! Keep up the good work and keep smiling!!!!!!!
Thank you! Will do!
I think you all did an excellent job with the reno and I think the cost is perfect. I’ve watched a lot of different RV TH-cam’s and I’ve seen some retro TH-cam. The fact that you did it all yourself. was the game changer. You made it the way you wanted it to be and that’s what it’s all about! I think if you wanted to sell Harvey there would be people willing to pay double! After all, if you look at a new RV now the pricing is ridiculous. Good job and humorous as well!😂😂😂
They have impressed the hell out of me. These two people are NOT afraid to work, work hard, and work long.
Thanks so much, Karen, we appreciate the comment and your support!
Thanks, Mark! We did work our buns off on this one. Have taken a little time off for Christmas but we're looking forward to getting back to work and getting some new videos out for you soon!
@@retrorevivals , great stuff. Very smart to put that instrument cluster in it, showing stuff like coolant temp, oil pressure, battery level, etc. That cluster of gauges may very well prove to SAVE that engine when it has a failure on the road, because you will catch it. Smart thinking to put that in there.
Way to go Curly Bob!!!! 😂😂😂
Curly Bob is the best, definitely convinced us to buy this old RV with his smooth talking 😂😂😂
Described the best “ Micha Tuckey” concepts !
Oh no, have we gone Michitucky? Was it Curly Bob? 😂
Dang Nab , I love it. !!!!
Thanks so much😁!
Still way cheaper than most RVs these days and yall had fun doing it. I call that a win.
Thanks for the comment! We were going to mention how much motorhomes cost these days but forgot... guess we were distracted by Curly Bob 😂. We appreciate you watching!
Merry Christmas Tyler, Christy and family. Not a shock on how fast the cost goes up with each project. You guys are doing a fabulous job. If you had to pay someone to do everything the labor cost alone would make it a $30-40K project. The 518 OD is a project I am looking forward to on my Clipper. It too has a 440 which makes that conversion more difficult because 518's were never put behind 440's. It involves cutting the bellhousing off and bolting on a JW Ultrabell. From what I've seen it lowers cruise RPM 800 to 1000 less than just running in 3rd. That is a pretty good difference in engine wear and noise in itself. 518's are still pretty readily available but make sure you only get the up to 2005 I believe (46RH rear wheel drive/ hydraulic) because after that they are electronically controlled. You Tube has videos on all the info so looking at your abilities I don't see it being an obstacle when the time comes. I probably will have $15-20+K in ours by the time it is totally road worthy. Next big project is rebuilding the front end with the Made in USA NOS parts that are starting to get harder and harder to find (I have everything stashed in the garage after a lot of searching). Good luck and Happy New Year. Ca-ching.
Merry Christmas! I've been looking at the swap to the 518 OD trans. I'll have to keep researching but it seems very doable. Thanks also for the added tip about the bellhousing. The gains in mileage and noise reduction would be great. We've invested this much, what's a little more, right?I Good luck on your project,it sounds awesome!
After seeing the work you guys have done I think you are capable. Looking at videos and doing research make some of these obscure projects easier after seeing what other people have done and getting several different ideas on how to tackle them. Working on mine I've come up with some ideas that make working on it easier. I've read comments from people saying that FI along with OD can almost double fuel mileage. I agree that once you've invested so much might as well make it what you want. Keep the videos coming you guys are entertaining . Definitely loved the intro. I think he sold me mine.
Thanks so much! And, yes, look out for Curly Bob, he's a smooth talker!
Great to hear from you again! The prices on everything are really high here in the US right now due to inflation... It's no fun. We're hoping to spend a lot less on the next project. Thanks for watching!
@@retrorevivals Доброго времени суток. Спасибо за ответ. Да я знаю что творится в Америке у меня там много друзей и знакомых. И жду вашего продолжения проекта.
Well DANG NAB!! lol Actually that grand total with complete refurbishing/updating is not that that bad...I mean if you were paying someone labor that will have been double at least!! You also got a ton of content and you enjoy doing the projects soooo worth it, ya? Also TH-cam income 🙂 And the editing was funny and top notch!!
Thanks so much! We didn't set out in the beginning to spend this much but, looking at where we started, we've come a long way! We appreciate you watching and commenting! Stay tuned for more 🎉🎉
😂 hilarious!!
Thank you! Hope you check out some of our other videos. We try to keep things fun 🎉☺️
lol u guys are really cute
Thank you!
I gotta tell ya. Watching everything ya'll did with that RV, and I watched ALL the vids? Just incredible. You guys have TRANSFORMED that vehicle. Literally. They should issue a whole NEW title on that thing because of you. Truly, it must have just been a TON of work. But in your determination, competence, knowledge, skill, work ethic and attitudes? Ya'll did it. You worked as a team on that thing from the start, and ya actually laughed your way thru it all. Ya'll BOTH like making the other one chuckle, and both of ya CAN make the other one chuckle. But it is a testimony to marriage and love that ya'll work on VERY hard tasks like this RV has been, and keep going, solving one problem after another, having setbacks and surprises, but getting it DONE. With determination! Which is the most impressive part for me, having watched everything ya did. NEVER SELL IT!
What an amazing and uplifting comment. There were some times throughout the project where we'd run low on energy but honestly comments like that helped to keep us motivated and we're really excited with how much we were able to get accomplished and how the project turned out. Thanks so much! We hope you have a Merry Christmas!
hahaha curly Bob
He's the best. A real smooth talker 😂
Loved the intro
Thank you! That was a fun one!
lol so great !!
Thanks for watching! 🎉
Wow guys! The cost is insane. Maybe do a flip project or two to recoup cost. Merry Christmas to you all!
That's a great idea and would be a fun challenge! Not that we need another project but we should start keeping our eyes open for nice flip candidates. Thanks so much for watching andn commenting! We really appreciate your support!
Omg did you get the over heating problem fixed
Well, fingers crossed, but, yes! No overheating problems on our last couple trips! 🤞🤞
@@retrorevivals on the back of the RV you could put something home made a put a locked on it and you can keep things in there and you don't have to worry about
Great idea!
How much would you sell it for?
Oooh, good question! We haven't talked about it. Hoping to get a bit of use out of it first. Why? You want to buy ol Harvey?
@@retrorevivals I wish I could
Even though on paper it doesn't show it, what you put into something is exactly what you will get out of it! What I mean by this. As such a project, as this with Harvey, think of all the trips and times spent not only putting it together but afterwards. Even though the kids are growing up, the time that will be spent reminiscing over the years. I'm down the road about how many trips and experience as A. You had with it! So don't look back on this as look at all the money that we spent on it. Look at all of the stories and experiences you created with that! Love you guys!
Thanks James. It is about the journey. Glad you get it 😁
Yeah
🙌🙌
I am so so glad that the TH-cam gods saw fit for ya’ll to come across my feed! You’re uplifting, funny, informative, and so honest about the good, bad, and ugly of renovating an old RV. And I’m super happy I found you guys close to the beginning of your TH-cam start….as I have every intention to keep watching you as long as you keep making videos and sharing them. Thanks folks and blessings to you and your family!❤
What an encouraging and uplifting comment; thank you so much! We're happy to have you along for the ride! We're hoping to have a new video out soon!
I LOVE that intro! So funny! 😅😅 Merry Christmas ya'all! ❤
Thank you! Merry Christmas!!
We bought a 2000 Four Winds Infinity Class A motorhome last year for $10k. Paid cash. Has a Ford v10 in it which runs like a top. We then had about $2000 worth of roof work (an old leak around the bathroom skylight had wood rot around it), the bathroom wall and ceiling where the old leak was, we had replaced (I’m not carpenter like handy, so we paid a guy to do it). That includes having the roof coated with a product similar to what you used. I’ve paid about $200 on new window seals, butyl tape, ProFlex. We did have a new on board generator installed (Can’t recommend the RVMp 4000i enough!) this cost us about $5k. It could surely use new paint and finishing on the interior, but what’s there is in good shape, it just looks like the Golden Girls owned it. And we are just about to sink a few grand into suspension work. So we’re in about $20k all told. But our RV repair guy says our unit is more sound than anything new produced in the last 10 years, and it’s PAID FOR! So I think your family and mine are doing ok with our older rigs!
We've heard some bad stories about newer campers and RVs especially since Covid. As long as our engine holds up, we should be in decent shape 🤜🪵. It is amazing how quickly expenses add up! It would be pretty sweet to have a Golden Girls themed RV... might have to do a project like that and rent it out. People would love it. Thanks for watching!
Love the intro, hilarious, but a fully restored for sale on lot is between $35-45,000 Canadian but that's to original set up, now as for costs insulation in Ontario Canada for complete r.v. alone is $579 plus the spray foam, now remember that's Canadian and cheapest price yup 😱😱😱 and I still have to redo all the wiring front to rear, replace 1 grey tank, putting in steel studs that was another $100 Canadian, flooring still have to be done yet, a.c. Canadian price new must range $2200, gas stove $1,500 - $2,500, fridge $300 +, hot water tank ( r.v. store $2,500, home Depot $200 ( but that's a portable gas one ) not fixed, yup still struggling at this end but I'll get it done lol, but everyone has to remember American price is cheaper than Canadian prices ! Wayyyy cheaper lol but thanks for the update and btw I have a repair manual for the 78 GMC class c so if you want a copy of it give me email address and I'll send it ur way
Wow, your prices do seem way higher... I know there's a conversion rate but they still seem way higher! Crazy! We thought things were high here. Best of luck with your project! If we end up with a 78 Class C down the road, we'll reach out for that repair manual. Thanks!
What a brilliant video.. it's nearly 4am here in Bonnie Scotland and I'm trying to laugh quietly.. gawd! You guys did a FANTASTIC job and the videos are great! We are on our 4th RV reno so we know all about the blood, sweat and hopefully not too many tears and massive amount of work that go into these total restorations. I have to tell you I was shocked that you only spent $15k. Lets face it, you can barely buy a car or a truck for that amount (without all the living space attached) and now you know it's watertight without mold or rot. I'm in Canada, so I don't know what prices are in your region but I think you could easily sell Harvey for $25k. Thoroughly enjoying watching your videos! Thanks for being so generous with your knowledge and happy camping.
Thanks so much for the comment and we love having people with your experience and expertise following our channel. Feel free to send suggestions our way. That $15k is still climbing... you'll see in an upcoming video we're replacing the drive shaft and some other suspension type things 🥴.
I’m renovating a 71 chinook if you’re wanting to recoup your investment rvs are difficult, you’ll save money on a Chevy frame parts are plenty and less expensive. Only certain makers are “collectible, chinook, GMC and the Cortez are a few, the rambler would return better on your cost😊great videos
Thanks for the comment 😁. We have enjoyed the journey. Breathing new life into an old RV has been rewarding. We're happy to have a usable RV to take on our trips. We'll be watching the budget a little more closely on the Rambler 😉.
I love all my Michigan peeps on TH-cam. We have Rock Hill farms with Brock, we have outdoors with ericomma. We also have midlife stockmen from Flint and of course, we have yo, which make watching TH-cam that much better! I can live my Michigan roots through all of you! I love the trailer that you all got. That is gutted. I can't wait to see the endeavors with that. But the one that I am most impressed with will be the Ford. Van! Growing up. My dad had a 1973 that he converted into a sleeper with a bed in the back that converted into a table and we headed up. Whirlpool many refrigerator that was inside of it with a converter to plug it into as well. As a black & white TV! That thing was awesome. I can't wait to see what unfolds with that project! Now on that note, I would like to say Merry Christmas to both of you and your family! And a very Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!!
That commercial is GOLD ¡! I love it...hilarious. .
Glad you enjoyed it!!
You guys are so funny and fun, I know you will eventually have a popular YT channel. I sure enjoy watching. Maybe I just understand Upper Midwest humor, and have owned both a camper van and a 1970 s Minnie Winnie. Keep it up. I will always be watching!
That's awesome! We appreciate your support so much!
Curly Bob 😂😂😂! Classic! You guys are awesome! Thanks for the laughs!!😅😅
Thanks so much! We appreciate you watching and commenting!
Well j, Christie & family. You have done a fab job & should be very proud of all your efforts! You have a lovely Rv now. Nothing is cheap anymore. If you want quality, you get what u pay for. One thing is for sure u get a lot more choices than we do here in the UK. I hope you make many happy memories with Harvey. Merry Christmas, big huggles Evie xxx
Thanks so much for the very sweet comment! We are really looking forward to spending some nice family time in the RV during the upcoming year (and maybe even some time in there without the kids too, lol). Merry Christmas to you too!
Even though it was more than you guys expected in cost, by no means was it unreasonable. It seems you two made thoughtful decisions about what to replace with new and what to repair. It has turned out great and you guys should feel very good with Harvey. I enjoyed all the videos and now have an idea of what to expect if I ever take on a project like Harvey. Thanks so much for all the videos.
Thank you for watching the videos! ❤️❤️
New to the Channel but this is the best! We renovated our 1969 FAN Styleliner (Fanny) and it was over $10k (my brother is skilled and didn’t charge for labor, huge $$ saver). We adore our vintage camper so much but I’m sure if we tried to sell her we would never get what we stuck into her. Can’t wait to see your next renovation.
Thanks so much for the comment! We'll get going on our other projects soon but hopefully you can check out some of our other past videos too. Tell Fanny that Harvey says hello 👋 Thanks for watching!
I am from the U.K. and from my perspective it’s really difficult to find Americans that aren’t bombastic and loud. You are like reserved English people with quirky sense of humour. I watch you a lot but don’t know your names. Lady is very pretty. Gentlemen is very calm and collected. Nice to meet you!
They call me Mr Boombastic, Mr. Fantastic.
So funny, love your description of Americans as Bombastic 😂 Thanks so much for the comment and we're glad you're enjoying the videos. The pretty lady is Christy and the cool and collected gentleman is Tyler. It's nice to meet you too. We appreciate you watching!
😂😂😂
P.S. @blah329, have you met Crazy Curly Bob?
@@retrorevivals Who is Crazy Curly Bob? Is he on You Tube?
Love the intro! Yeah the expense can be an ouch. My 1988 Lazy Daze (Penny) was a surprise too when I over heated the motor right after purchase. At 20k I stopped counting. But you know what,,,you have a safe cute reliable rig to take you places and have a good time and that is what you set out to do. Your Harvey is really well done. Keep up the great videos. I look forward to the next one.
Thanks so much! We're hoping to make some nice memories with our youngest two before they eventually fly the coop ❤️
16K?! OMG I hope you love it. Have you ever heard of the money pit? You will never get that money back, BUT you will have a wonderful RV as long as the motor last. And you are just wonderful and super nice people and most likely made some money on the videos I hope. Sell lots of tee shirts and consider all the things you learned it was a really cheap education by todays standard.
Thanks! That's a great way to look at it! We didn't realize at the start exactly how much it would all cost but we are happy with it. There are still many projects we want to do but it's usable now so we'll try to get some camping trips out of it this summer :-) We have made a little off the channel but not $16k yet! We'll stick with it and maybe cover our costs at some point. We really appreciate you watching and commenting!
You guys are so funny! I learned a lot from watching your renovation on your classic Rv. I too have a old Camper trailer that i am working on. I don't have a lot of skill but I'm plugging along. As a matter of fact, i am still working on my vintage camper trailer. I could really use some help. Thanks for Sharing. You both did a great job. Congratulations. If your ever in Minnesota, Lets share stories or at least meet up with others who are fans of older campers and want to bring them into the 21st century.
Good luck with your project! We are dying to get some work done on the Holiday Rambler. We do have this crazy idea of taking the show on the road somewhere in the future and checking out other people's projects and helping them out. Who knows if we'll get to that point but we could add a stop in Minnesota to the list. Thanks for watching!
Heck that’s not bad! I’m surprised it wasn’t more. Harvey was in rough shape!
When you consider the price of an RV in decent shape, it's really not too bad. Thanks for the comment 😁
You all did awesome, My original thought at the beginning of the video was 30-35K.
Thank you! If we had to pay for the labor to do all that, you probably wouldn't be far off.
Here in the thumb of Michigan working and watching your awesome channel!
Awesome! Thank you!
Crazy Bob and Beautiful Christy - what a great combination! I thought the cost would be more. Great job!
Awww, thank you! 😘😘😘
Thank you Curly Bob, your commercial was highly enthusiastic.
Thanks, we will tell Curly Bob that you enjoyed his energy 😃😀
It was fun watching you all. A labor of love to be sure and so much hard, dirty, back breaking, knee aching work that isn't even seen. The part you can see though is so darn adorable. I hope you have so much fun and get to travel lots.
Thanks so much for the comment! We hope you keep watching the channel 👍👍
That wasn't a bad all-in price. You have an awesome retro camper, better built then the new ones, and you couldn't buy a new one for that price. I hope you have many years of fun with this camper.
Thanks! We look forward to more camping adventures in 2024 and beyond!
Loved the video! Dang nab! You guys did a great job on Harvey. Can’t wait to see what you do with the latest
project.
Thank you so much! We're excited to get moving on our other projects! Thanks so much for watching 🎉
Simple! They r a fun family to watch! Great info, awesome work!
Thanks so much! We're happy to have you along for the ride!
If you had hired it out, you would have spent probably would have spent three times as much. Your talents are invaluable and your sense of humor is priceless!
Thanks so much for the comment! You're right about the cost of hiring quality help. We appreciate you watching 🎉🎉🎉
😂you may have spent a lot on Harvey but I loved watching your videos. ❤
Thanks you! There's more to come 😉
