- Dragon Ball Z Kakarot has finally patched Gotenks and Vegito has playable characters in free roaming... or at least, free roaming battles. This free patch brings the Nintendo exclusive content to other platforms, but man, did they misread what fans have been asking for. This was not it Kakarot...

They could have at least given vegito and gotenks their own skill trees and let you go through the other super sayian transformations with vegito

I know it's late to comment but I think one of the reasons for not including free roaming with the fusions would be having to include a skill tree for them which would actually be kind of hard.
Just give Vegito all of the skills Goku and Vegeta have combined, plus what he already has in game and like, Final Kamehameha. Then give him SSJB and you're finished. Gotenks is really the only hard one but its not like he has a whole lot of content anyway...

its probably really really late to reply to that, but i'm pretty sure the reason that Gotenks and Vegito were not included as free-roam characters is because both of them are actually timed type of characters.
Vegito is a result of Potara Fusion - which lasts just 1 hour on Mortals (aka, the maximum amount of time that a Vegito Potara Fusion can last is limited to 1 hour)
Gotenks is a result of the Fusion Technique - which lasts just 30 minutes (aka, the maximum amount of time that a Gotenks/Gogeta Fusion can last is limited to 30 minutes)
albeit those are the times for BASE forms - so in the case where Gotenks goes Super Saiyan 3 then the fusion can only last 3-5 minutes, and the Potara earings fusion is unable to withstand the power of Vegito in Super Saiyan 1 form for longer than 3-5 minutes also.
so that being said, being how CyberConnect are trying to be as truthful to the source material as they can - it would only make sense that Vegito and Gotenks would not be in freeroam and only in battles.

I never touched this game after the buu saga but I've been updating it whenever a dlc dropped.

This game could have been groundbreaking. I often wonder how can creators drop the ball on potential greatness like this. Like you've got to know that what you're putting out isn't what the fandom wants, right? Someone in the decision making room had to be like, "yow we've got to do this right. Too many elements are missing." It's like they think about money alone and not pleasing the consumers. Just milking the DBZ cash cow at this point smh
Basically, yeah. The IP alone is practically guaranteed to sell copies so there's bound to be money in this. Which in turn...kinda means any semblance of quality can quickly come off as the IP holders (and the shareholders) giving us peasants some crumbs off their table. Because...let's be honest for a moment here. Nobody NEEDED yet another retelling of DBZ's story. It's been done to death, yet here we are. And under the shiny veneer is...just an okay game. Not terrible, not great, just okay.
Same criticisms apply to XV2, really (though it at least deviated SOMEWHAT...still felt more like an update to XV than anything else). It's high time the DB community demands tangible positive change from IP holders, like an RPG centered around being a Saiyan in DBZ Bardock's era and going to conquer planets with your custom Saiyan (like a Halo: Reach kind of deal, but for Dragon Ball) for instance.
@@legrettagrants6470 Exactly. I understand that money has to be made, but there's no failing financially when it comes to franchises like DBZ. Anything they put out is basically going to make, even if it's lackluster, just off of the name alone. Take the time and create something amazing for the fandom. It may cost more, but the profits and growth would be even more rewarding and impact positively on the future of whatever else project they have in store. Like just stop betraying our passion for the franchise.

@@Wimana868 I've been waiting for them to do something fun and interesting with the franchise for ages. There hasn't really been any worthwile worldbuilding outside of introducing the Demon Realm and a few concepts in the DBS manga since GT ended (and showed us more of space than just Earth and Namek) and games are SUCH a good vehicle to expand like that. Fusions didn't really tread new ground but it wasn't a retelling, so I automatically enjoyed it more when that shouldn't be the exception to the rule. I don't know about you, but to me it keeps feeling like the franchise limits itself way too much in one direction and flat-out breaks established precedent in a bad way in the OTHER direction. We still haven't properly explored Saiyan life under Frieza's rule and gotten to know their alien mindsets in a way that isn't just Vegeta telling us about them (DBZ Saiyans, mind, the ones in DBS start to feel more...human than they should), we still haven't even taken the opportunity to look at the universe outside of Goku's sphere of influence (I'd totally be up for like...Hitman but you're playing as Hit or whatever)...there's so many options.
They do it cuz we accept these half ass games bro alot of times when I bring this issue up they say well you don't have to buy the game while that's true I'm also a db fan who doesn't want to experience playing with their favorite character the last decent dbz gene was raging blast 2 the best one ever is bt3 it had everything story characters the maps were amazing they haven't been able to duplicate it yet they charging us more while giving us less

If Vegito was less time consuming to get, I'd get Vegito, but I originally wanted to get him/them because I was expecting him/them to have the ability to have the SSG and SSGSS transformations, but the more I think about it, the more I realize I should've started the Frieza stuff already, which again I was holding off, and I honestly kinda wanted to speed-blitz everything as an SSG-SSGSS Vegito. I honestly had no issue with how Gotenks works, but then again, I only got the game afterwards, and I hate how much stuff you have to do just to unlock Vegito, whom I'm guessing cannot even become an SSG nor SSGSS.

I mean it isnt worth fusing in freeroam because of the time limit the fusion lasts, (30 for fusion) and (1 hour for potara) but thats if they’re in base form and since you cant go to base form you’ll be fused for maybe 5-10 mins. This should’ve been in the game since launch but should be great for newcomers
i have often wondered why we couldn't free roam in transformed states as well. just seems like a weird design choice, limiting what players can do in the game for no good reason.
it actually makes sense why roaming around in freeroam is not possible in transformed states - a transformation is a state which constantly consumes ki energy from the body.
so that being said, no one is able to stay in a transformation for too long, because it will just end up draining all of their energy and kill them.
story related - its actually even the reason why Goku was unable to stay in his Super Saiyan 3 form in the battle against Kid Buu, staying in Super Saiyan 3 form has literally drained all of his energy in a relatively short time to the point that he went out of that form out of exhaustion from holding it.
@@HoLDoN4Sec I'm a huge db fan. I know that already. I also know they were able to master ssj1 to the point gohan and goku stayed in it for an entire year straight. Even in game, you have the auto transformation perks in the skill tree, once unlocked, that also cause each respective transformation to consume no ki. Aka, mastering them. The only reason ssj3 was so draining in Z was the form was new to goku. Especially to his alive body. But he has been able to utilize it much easier in super. And the only reason it was so draining on him in gt was the fact he was in his child body, not his adult. Same reason he could only use instant transmission as a ssj4 in gt.
And at the very least, they could have let us roam as vegito or gogeta...or any if the support characters. I mean, their models, animations, move sets, and even flying during free roam animations are already in the game. They just refused to give us the ability to grab the steering wheel for some reason. I wish, after you beat the game, they gave us the option to unlock each of them, as well as gogeta, gotenks, and vegito. It would have been great for end game content, and a reason to keep playing past the story quests. It would also add some variety to the visual while playing. Imagine getting to play as 18 for example.
These are all things that would have made the game drastically better, but they just decided to not do it. I mean 90% of the work had already been done on these characters and forms. Just let us free roam as them, and give us control of the support characters.

Goku learned to master Super Saiyan 3 in Super - but this game is called Dragon ball Z kakarot, not Dragon Ball Super Kakarot - so unless they would've brought that up in some Dragon Ball Super DLC (and not the force awakening DLC) than that is not going to happen.
yes Goku and Gohan were able to master Super Saiyan 1 in the hyperbolic time chamber by staying in that form for a whole year, and that even shows during the intermission period of that episode in the game, but is the only form that was used like that according to the lore, so if any i wouldn't expect any other form from any other character to be playable while in freeroam.
which brings me to another point - even in the manga and the anime, during times where Goku and the others wouldn't train or fight they always reverted back to their original form, you won't see any of them turning super saiyan for no reason just because it looks cool (altho Gohan did that for a while, albeit it was to honor Goku and not because it was "cool")
they would not add Gogeta to Kakarot (at least as long as they don't have a DLC featuring him) because Gogeta did not exist in Dragon Ball Z - i recall the first appearance of Gogeta was in GT.
i guess a cool way they could deal with fusioned characters in a way which will be lore accurate is actually have a real world timer for Vegito and Gotenks, so you could fuse into both during a battle and keep the effect going for a set period of time before both characters split out of the fused one.
i'm guessing they could've also went with a similar approach to transformations if you have unlocked the "Auto Super Saiyan etc." skill, since in the freeroam you still have a ki charge bar and you can still drain it, they could make it that if you had any ki left during a battle and you were in a transformation then you could keep it even in freeroam as long as you still have ki left, but once you're out of ki then you would go out of transformation just like how you do in battles, but you will only be able to go back into transformations if you're training or going into a battle. (which would still keep it lore-accurate)
i do see what you're saying though and i do agree with it, i think as well that for end-game content they should've went outside of actual attention to lore and let us be able to play and freeroam with all of the characters in the game (even including the bad guys).
though then again, after you complete the game + all side stories + all dlc and their side stories you don't really have anything else to do in this game which is a little bit unfortunate, i really wish that they would've had added a "hidden" minigame of Tenkaichi Budokai that unlocks after you finish all of the missions in both the game and the dlc's - that would actually make it worth it to continue playing past the 50-60 hours you currently need to 100% do everything in the game
And STILL no freeroam-able 18?! COME ON!

Another thing i miss that vegito only got cool looking animation on his super attacks when he uses spirit sword on a broken enemy but none on the others with big bang kamehame or split finger shot

It's funny how when you have lvl 300 goku and vegeta at ssgss and when you fuse into vegito you actually end up weaker than if you just played either of them alone lol.

Potara was never retconned. Elder kai stated that that the fusion was permenant NO MATTER WHAT, and then Vegito proceeded to defuse in Buu's stomach anyways. The moment Vegito defused in DBZ, the elder kai's words were useless. And it would've been a really stupid plotline for Vegito to actually be permemant because there would be no point. It would kill the tension in the arcs, and it would barely even be a consequece because the dragon balls would just reverse the fusion anyways. The only thing a permament potara fusion would contribute to the story is ruining the sense of tension and danger.

i discovered this naturally without knowing they made this update. totally different perspective. I think its awesome and i appreciate that they make u have both characters in the party to fuse. keeps the immersion. 10/10 anime game

Same. The problems Globku highlighted in this video (unplayable fusions, low level enemies, etc) only apply to players who got the game at launched. If you picked up this game super recently like me, none of these are concerns. I love the game, only thing I hated was the saiyan saga because the game still felt like a tutorial until ur going to Namek.
You know what would bring me back to kakarot? An absolute dedicated full release of that card game they incorporated into the game and then forgot about.
(though I haven't played kakarot since golden frieza)
The least they could've done was let Vegito go SSB if you had unlocked the skill with both Goku and Vegeta Aswell as let us free roam as Goten or Trunks and let us fuse aslong as both are in the party, defense or not, because having two characters take up the party limit when there are much better characters to have as support, it makes no sense, it's also baffling to me how the modern timeline trunks doesn't have SSJ2 despite the future DLC Trunks having it.
1) Vegito Blue was in Z
2) Future Trunks Buu Arc was AFTER Trunks went to the past. No reason for him to have it yet

Also Trunks got SSJ2 around the same time Goku got SSJ god if we go by how many years both timelines differ so trunks should have it in the main story.
@@Tharja-iBW No, he shouldn't. Trunks in the warrior of hope story obtains SSJ2 while fighting buu, AFTER he's gone to the past and come back afterwards, AFTER he's killed his timeline's cell. Yes, they're technically the same trunks, but if trunks in the base game were to have ssj2, then that would mean he would've gone back in time TWICE, which would probably cause a paradox if anything

Trunks did get SSJ2 vs Buu but it doesn't take place at the end of the battle of gods saga, it takes place at the same time as the original Buu saga as they are parallel. If Trunks can exist post game while the battle of gods and Resurrection of F storylines are going on then he should have super saiyan 2 as its Trunks post future Buu saga.
This DLC perfectly sums up the game as a whole. Half baked, unimpressive and disappointing

Half baked? I mean, I guess. The game is pretty filled with content. About 40 hours for the maingame, I've put about 250 as of this comment. Sure, a lot of cutscenes could have been better and there were iconic moments missing, but this game delivered as a valid way to experience DBZ.
Unimpressive? How? The graphics are beautiful, the more high quality cutscenes are incredibly hype, and the combat, while basic, is fun.
Disappointing? I guess that's just your expectations, then. Not sure what you were expecting. They promised a game that retold DBZ, and that's what you got.
I really love seeing how much content they made for this game cos I really loved how open the world felt, despite the lack of combo depth with the combat... it makes me reaalllll excited for future dbz games, really hope they keep on this direction for future games

Tbf the sidequests are filler lol, it's not DLC, just a stupidly late update, doesn't take away from the game at all besides the fact it should have been there from launch. Worth the time of new players of course but I 100%'d Kakarot a while ago and still came back to check it out and enjoyed what little there was. Definitely gonna appreciate it more in a new playthrough.
And on console the update is pure trash like at least on switch you could fight golden frieza again
It’s crazy to think that if the devs literally just went back & played the Budokai tenkaichi games from 15 years ago they could have made this game & xenoverse 2 so much better.

If u thought the fusions would be free roam you're actually slow. They very clearly said you could use them during battles before the update came out for switch. Like, learn to read. That might help your disappointment.

Gotenks can be in fusion for only 30 minutes so I can understand why there is no free roam for him but vegito could easily have free roam as the potara is infinite

This game in short has been awesome it could have been better the only bad thing is lack of updates I haven’t played this game since June or July I think when I finished it along with dlcs I just hope they continue the game and make it more interesting it would be so good to play with two fused characters

i literally punched gotenks and vegito to death in base no effort and i feel let down
freeroaming fused characters wouldnt make any sense tho- they have a timer on the fusion and being able to just always have a permanent fused warrior goes against the entire concept

You know what I don't understand is why anime games will update so inconsistently let's take jump Force for example their DLC has been horribly inconsistent.
And even Shinobi strikers a game which I assumed was dead but still it gets random DLC.

Strikers isn't dead and gets pretty consistent dlc. And it's not a road map but they announce the dlc seasons

I hated waiting for the dlc for jump force, I got shoto and after that it was a nightmare they kept delaying it and when it finally came out it took almost a full year for 4 characters🤦♂️

@@acespadepirates6426 it's on about a three month cycle. They announce that they have dlc coming but op is kind of write because they don't announce it outside of some reveal trailers around the 3 month cycle.

Vegito is useless if you are lvl 300 and fully upgraded. But for new players it might help. We day one people need new enemies scaled to us or atleast up the AI so we have a challenge, I am one shoting everyone at this point.
How do you unlock the elder kai vegeta and bulma subquest? Which subquests do you have to do before it?

There was a glitch in my game where the scene with buu absorbing Gohan showed my map and said I could Teleport out of the cutscene and when I did I was Vegito. I can teleprt anywhere but there's no npcs (because super buu killed them obviously) however if I tried to go to a campfire the game would crash but I could still go fishing but the animation was broken I have my game saved so I can free roam with him
Im literally one shotting almost every enemy, vegito and gotenks took one kamehameha. Im level 300 and fully upgraded. Idk what to do. I just wish they fixed level scaling or added new game+ I literally cant have a single fight lasting more than 3 seconds. :(
I mean...thats LITERALLY how a fight would go down with Vegito lol..
@@ssjdon Lol yeah but I was talking about playing normally too. I expected the boss fight against vegito and gotenks to be harder but goku blue is just broken. The only fight that goes on for longer than 3 seconds is against Golden Frieza lvl 300
How hard could it have been to scale the enemies in those quests to your level? Probably not hard considering EVERY GAME EVER DOES IT.

All I want is a NG+ so I can replay the story with the Techniques and transformations I got from my first play through with a little bit more challenge. But yeah I am disappointed that you cant free roam as Vegarot(what I call Vegito) but I'm satisfied with him as but too but we do the transformation with the fusion because to would be awesome to have Vegarot SSGSS.
I mean you technically can do that, just start a new game and go do the whis training first and unlock everything before you start

NGL, Grinding and Z orb gain is hella easy. Never understood the issues unless you don't have the dlc.

I can't stand that Vegeta has to be on the party. All fights that don't allow parties are pointless.
