Both Isaac and Ben have been going 'through something', but Isaac looked inwards and went searching for answers and was open to what he learned at the Here and Queer exhibition. Ben blamed everyone else as obstacles for his figuring out journey: Charlie for not giving him enough time to do so and Nick for so outwardly going through his journey and taking his object away from him. Then, when the rainbow from the Here and Queer exhibition reaches out to him, he rejects the opportunity to learn about himself the way that Isaac did.
There's also the parallel between Ben and Darcy, both have unaccepting or even abusive parents, but it's made clear that Darcy is not using that as an excuse to abuse others, like Ben is.

Last year my mom got down to 78 pounds. Some doctors would ask if she was doing it on purpose. Every time she ate she'd bring up more than she ate. She kept losing weight and became so malnourished she almost passed away. Turns out she has a gastric outlet obstruction. Shes been tube fed since last September and her weight is now is the 130s. We're hoping they'll get her bypass procedure done soon so she can actually eat. She's got a G tube and J tube and is proud of them cause they mean she's a survivor.
I cannot praise this season enough for how it deals with such hard-hitting issues. There are so many shows nowadays that feel like they throw things into the script to reach a certain quota, but this just felt so natural. Absolutely amazing. I always love your reactions because you reacted the same way I did when the bullies all were confronted in such a way. It is such an important message to spread out that people who tease you and make you feel like less in general that you do not need to forgive them. They are not owed your forgiveness. I really wish more shows emphasized those points instead of just letting back in those toxic people into friend groups or giving them their sweet wholesome moment of forgiveness. Redemption arcs are one thing, but someone who has done the bare minimum of apologizing does not count in my books. You have to earn forgiveness (if they do ever want to forgive you.) Anyone you see in the background other than the main cast were inserted digitally. @13:26 something tells me they weren’t supposed to just run off from the Louvre like that. Thank you for your reaction it was really moving and funny at the same time. There are actually clues about Charlie's eating disorder scattered throughout season one and the first few episodes of this season, but they're so well-placed that it's not easy to grasp them for those who haven't read the comic. We often see Charlie playing with food, like cereal for breakfast, without eating it, at the movies he refuses popcorn, tells Tori he's not hungry when she offers to make him a pizza ecc. Whenever there is a stressful situation he tries to "control" his eating. Another clue is also the fact that often, even when he is with Nick, he falls asleep, this is a subtle indication, the drowsiness is determined by weakness due to not eating enough. Alice is really good at dealing with such a complicated subject with such precision and delicacy. I think Kit and Joe have been fantastic in this second season, they have grown so much acting-wise and they have taken another step in terms of chemistry between them. That final scene is the perfect summation of how much they've grown and how much deeper the story has gotten. That line that Nick says to Charlie "you don't have to be perfect for me" sums up the whole second season. The fourth volume that we will probably see in the third season is the hardest and most moving, without anticipating anything, I just say that a great storm is coming, we will have great moments, a memorable I love you, and a scene that I can only imagine incredible between Kit/ Nick and Olivia/Sara. We'll have to wait a bit but I'm sure it will be worth it... P.S. now you can easily read the first three books without spoilers

I love this show so much 😭 it is absolutely a comfort show for me and it touches on so many topics in a different light than other media does. There’s a sense of comfort there and a knowing that everything will be okay eventually. Thank you for saying what you did about weight loss/gain and eating disorders. I have a digestive issue that I’ve been trying to get diagnosed for years, to no avail, and having people make comments about “do you eat enough? You’re so skinny, you’re so tiny, you have thin arms so you’re not as strong,” the list goes on, those comments hurt too! They’ve personally given me a lot of body issues in the past. People should never comment on someone’s weight unless they know that person is actively trying to gain or lose (and even then you should just be supportive but mind your business) because you never know what someone is going through. Edit: you might already know this now, but the song at the end was produced by William Gao, the actor that plays Tao! It’s such a gorgeous song

I am an aroace and this fucking season broke me. Like i dont think people understand how scary and weird and just lonely it is to grow up aroace cause like tf is happening. First time I tought that i am aroace was when I was 12 and now i am 22 and I finally love my orientation. It took so long. I wish I had something like this when I was a kid.
I absolutely adore this show. This season definitely hits hard in some parts. Moments of just pure smiles and happiness, moments that make my heart hurt. It is very rare that I feel so invested in characters. So well done and I'm so so glad that younger generations will have this for their own journeys of finding out who they are.

I'm looking forward to S3 because I expect the burden of care will shift from Nick's shoulders to the adults in Charlie's life. Right now no one really understands that Charlie's life is in real danger - except Nick, who thinks it's his job to somehow help Charlie through all of this. So sorry for him! Great choice of song for that final scene too, and kudos to Kit Connor for his changing expressions between seeing Charlie off with tearful smiles, versus closing the door and feeling that weight on him of witnessing his sweet boyfriend's struggle to survive.
The reason no one was noticing was because those people were added in later at post production so only the main cast was in the Louvre at the time. This is why it was not crowded. Apparently I heard that you cannot even see the Mona Lisa due to the people crowded around it.
I loved the end of your video of where you talked about bullying. I agree about the impact of bullying. I was extremely bullied at school. My mother and her family are similar to darcys mom and David. I self harmed as well. Luckily, i had help from some concerned adults and they helped me become emancipated. I got through those hard times, but not unscathed. I admire that you are open about your ptsd and your previous trauma. As a fellow victim of abuse, i can agree that ptsd and trauma does not just go away. Its important to get the help that you need, and find your happiness.
As someone who can't gain weight it hurts when my doctor brings up my growth chart and says "this is how tall you should be and if you ate more you'd be here. I eat A LOT I just do a lot of cardio and where ever that data came from it isn't something thats encouraging to see.
I'm quite sad that this show came out like a week after Good Omens S2, because I was still emotionally impacted by that show, it was constantly on my mind, so I couldn't fully be in the moment as I binged Heartstopper S2. So bless these reactions for letting me live vicariously and feel said emotions.

Solitaire actually was Alice Oseman's first novel, so technically Heartstopper is a spin off prequel from Solitaire, Nick and Charlie were secondary characters in Tori's story and Alice felt like their story had to be told too

I too left school half way through 10 grade…due to intense bullying and harassment…I had to repeat the year sadly but was able to go to a new school and I made friends and sure I was bullied a little…but it was a much larger school and I learned how to avoid those people…one guy who bullied me my first 10th grade in the old school…spit a literal loogie in my purse in front of me…years later he messaged me and apologized and I forgave him…only for him to run for office not long after…so to be honest…I now know he only apologized because he didn’t want it to come out later…ok wow I rambled…might I say loved your reaction videos of the show…you said everything out loud I was thinking lol

Nick (not Nelson😆), this is the best HS reaction video you’ve made. You’re obviouly getting involved with the characters and the storyline. It’s sometimes corny and mawkish, sometimes frank and ruthless - teenagers show little mercy sometimes. I love the fact you root for Charlie Spring. Many commenters are goo-goo-eyed at Nick(Nelson) but the truth of the story is that Charlie is is epicentre. Love your reaction on Elle and Tao’s developing relationship. Their unconventional amorous bond is certainly unusual. Tao has a rather femme appearance and demeanor, yet he also says he freaks out when he fancies a girl. They deserve the best in their exploration of love and friendship.
The painting Elle was enamored with was Caravaggio's "Supper at Emmaus." It's a brilliant Trompe-l'œil masterpiece that was painted in 1601. Unsurprisingly, it's full of Christian symbolism. It depicts the moment when the recently resurrected Christ reveals himself to Cleopas and an unnamed disciple before disappearing. I presume it has some symbolic meaning in the context of "Heartstopper," but what that might be escapes me at the moment. Did Elle's painting kind of imitate it? I think I may have to rewatch that episode. I feel things like that aren't highlighted for no reason in films. The painting usually resides at the National Gallery in London. So, was it on loan to the Louvre or were some of these scenes shot in London? The room with the Babylonian sculptures and bas-relief is definitely in the Louvre. The real "Mona Lisa" is actually on display, but you're prevented from getting too close to it by a barrier, and it's behind bullet-proof glass. It's also a pretty small painting. At least that's my recollection from the last time I was there. There's always a mob of people around it, too. You actually can't see it very well because of the glass and not being able to get close to it, and all because people have behaved like barbarians in the past. Edit: Okay, upon reexamination, Elle's painting is a reimagining of the Caravaggio. When I first saw it, the composition did ring a bell. Anyway, Elle is substituted for Christ. Her painting is a metaphor of her transition from boy to girl. The boy is dead, the girl is alive. That's the resurrection. Charlie and Isaac knew Elle before her transition and after her coming out as trans (eyes opened so to speak), so they assume the roles of Cleopas and the unnamed disciple. The three people who are part of the queer community are seated at table. Tao takes the place of the standing innkeeper. Tao, the nominally straight friend, isn't part of the queer world per se, but he's part of the safe-space triad formed by all the figures which reside in the art room. (Actually, I think Tao is just as queer as the rest of them.) It's quite interesting to have this level of symbolism in a tv series. Usually, I only see it in serious films. So, yeah. Anyway, I do like her painting and get it, even if it is a little OTT.
Alot of people wonder why Ben was in the room however no one but Nick, Charlie, and Ben know what he did to Charlie. He hasnt outwardly said anything to anyone who was in the party that was homophobic so no one knows that he is actually homophobic.

Agreed with what you're saying about not commenting on people's weights, whether it's to say that they're "too fat" or "too skinny", but in some situations you should totally comment on it. Anorexia as a disorder is often a very convoluted cry for help that manifests somatically. If that's the reason why you're starving yourself and, since nobody is commenting on it, it seems to you like nobody realizes how malnourished you've recently become or even cares about it if they do realize, that's often the point at which you think "ok, I'm gonna make you realize how sick I really am, and if showing it to you costs me my own life then so be it", start starving yourself even more hardcore & your anorexia really escalates to its most dangerous extremes. If the weight of someone you're close to suddenly drops you should totally let them know that if this is a cry for help you're seeing it & you're there for them, don't let it slide.
I think Nick addressed it delicately in both instances and showed his love and support. He knows he doesn’t understand it but reassures Charlie that he wants to be there for him. He wants to be Charlie’s rock and it takes the pressure off Charlie to bottle up.

First of all apologies to your cat I rewound that at least 5 times LOL Second I was crushed by your statement that the art work in museums were fake (I mean if it is it makes sense and I have thought about it) So I googled it and did not get a definite answer. But I did see something that said unless stated otherwise the painting were the real ones in museums. I love this show so much 😭 it is absolutely a comfort show for me and it touches on so many topics in a different light than other media does. There’s a sense of comfort there and a knowing that everything will be okay eventually.
Thank you for saying what you did about weight loss/gain and eating disorders. I have a digestive issue that I’ve been trying to get diagnosed for years, to no avail, and having people make comments about “do you eat enough? You’re so skinny, you’re so tiny, you have thin arms so you’re not as strong,” the list goes on, those comments hurt too! They’ve personally given me a lot of body issues in the past. People should never comment on someone’s weight unless they know that person is actively trying to gain or lose (and even then you should just be supportive but mind your business) because you never know what someone is going through.

I am an aroace and this fucking season broke me. Like i dont think people understand how scary and weird and just lonely it is to grow up aroace cause like tf is happening. First time I tought that i am aroace was when I was 12 and now i am 22 and I finally love my orientation. It took so long. I wish I had something like this when I was a kid.

I absolutely adore this show. This season definitely hits hard in some parts. Moments of just pure smiles and happiness, moments that make my heart hurt. It is very rare that I feel so invested in characters. So well done and I'm so so glad that younger generations will have this for their own journeys of finding out who they are.

I'm looking forward to S3 because I expect the burden of care will shift from Nick's shoulders to the adults in Charlie's life. Right now no one really understands that Charlie's life is in real danger - except Nick, who thinks it's his job to somehow help Charlie through all of this. So sorry for him! Great choice of song for that final scene too, and kudos to Kit Connor for his changing expressions between seeing Charlie off with tearful smiles, versus closing the door and feeling that weight on him of witnessing his sweet boyfriend's struggle to survive.
The reason no one was noticing was because those people were added in later at post production so only the main cast was in the Louvre at the time. This is why it was not crowded. Apparently I heard that you cannot even see the Mona Lisa due to the people crowded around it.

I loved the end of your video of where you talked about bullying. I agree about the impact of bullying. I was extremely bullied at school. My mother and her family are similar to darcys mom and David. I self harmed as well. Luckily, i had help from some concerned adults and they helped me become emancipated. I got through those hard times, but not unscathed. I admire that you are open about your ptsd and your previous trauma. As a fellow victim of abuse, i can agree that ptsd and trauma does not just go away. Its important to get the help that you need, and find your happiness.
As someone who can't gain weight it hurts when my doctor brings up my growth chart and says "this is how tall you should be and if you ate more you'd be here. I eat A LOT I just do a lot of cardio and where ever that data came from it isn't something thats encouraging to see.

I'm quite sad that this show came out like a week after Good Omens S2, because I was still emotionally impacted by that show, it was constantly on my mind, so I couldn't fully be in the moment as I binged Heartstopper S2. Solitaire actually was Alice Oseman's first novel, so technically Heartstopper is a spin off prequel from Solitaire, Nick and Charlie were secondary characters in Tori's story and Alice felt like their story had to be told too

I too left school half way through 10 grade…due to intense bullying and harassment…I had to repeat the year sadly but was able to go to a new school and I made friends and sure I was bullied a little…but it was a much larger school and I learned how to avoid those people…one guy who bullied me my first 10th grade in the old school…spit a literal loogie in my purse in front of me…years later he messaged me and apologized and I forgave him…only for him to run for office not long after…so to be honest…I now know he only apologized because he didn’t want it to come out later…ok wow I rambled…might I say loved your reaction videos of the show…you said everything out loud I was thinking lol

Nick (not Nelson😆), this is the best HS reaction video you’ve made. You’re obviouly getting involved with the characters and the storyline. It’s sometimes corny and mawkish, sometimes frank and ruthless - teenagers show little mercy sometimes. I love the fact you root for Charlie Spring. Many commenters are goo-goo-eyed at Nick(Nelson) but the truth of the story is that Charlie is is epicentre.
Love your reaction on Elle and Tao’s developing relationship. Their unconventional amorous bond is certainly unusual. Tao has a rather femme appearance and demeanor, yet he also says he freaks out when he fancies a girl. They deserve the best in their exploration of love and friendship.

The painting Elle was enamored with was Caravaggio's "Supper at Emmaus." It's a brilliant Trompe-l'œil masterpiece that was painted in 1601. Unsurprisingly, it's full of Christian symbolism. It depicts the moment when the recently resurrected Christ reveals himself to Cleopas and an unnamed disciple before disappearing. I presume it has some symbolic meaning in the context of "Heartstopper," but what that might be escapes me at the moment. Did Elle's painting kind of imitate it? I think I may have to rewatch that episode. I feel things like that aren't highlighted for no reason in films. The painting usually resides at the National Gallery in London. So, was it on loan to the Louvre or were some of these scenes shot in London? The room with the Babylonian sculptures and bas-relief is definitely in the Louvre. The real "Mona Lisa" is actually on display, but you're prevented from getting too close to it by a barrier, and it's behind bullet-proof glass. It's also a pretty small painting. At least that's my recollection from the last time I was there. There's always a mob of people around it, too. You actually can't see it very well because of the glass and not being able to get close to it, and all because people have behaved like barbarians in the past.
Edit: Okay, upon reexamination, Elle's painting is a reimagining of the Caravaggio. When I first saw it, the composition did ring a bell. Anyway, Elle is substituted for Christ. Her painting is a metaphor of her transition from boy to girl. The boy is dead, the girl is alive. That's the resurrection. Charlie and Isaac knew Elle before her transition and after her coming out as trans (eyes opened so to speak), so they assume the roles of Cleopas and the unnamed disciple. The three people who are part of the queer community are seated at table. Tao takes the place of the standing innkeeper. Tao, the nominally straight friend, isn't part of the queer world per se, but he's part of the safe-space triad formed by all the figures which reside in the art room. (Actually, I think Tao is just as queer as the rest of them.)
It's quite interesting to have this level of symbolism in a tv series. Usually, I only see it in serious films. So, yeah. Anyway, I do like her painting and get it, even if it is a little OTT.
Alot of people wonder why Ben was in the room however no one but Nick, Charlie, and Ben know what he did to Charlie. He hasnt outwardly said anything to anyone who was in the party that was homophobic so no one knows that he is actually homophobic.

I’m so happy kids theses days have this show to look up to and learn from. This show broke me so much I was bawling my eyes out the last episode Kit and Joe did an fantastic job showing their emotions it took them 7 hours just to film the last scene to get it right and after they needed to take time to clam down it was really emotionally draining for them I heard. I can’t wait for S3 I heard filming will end in January!! But also not really for what’s to come but one thing I’m really looking forward to and you will be happy! And last thing thank you so much Nick for telling us about your bullying and SH and I’m sure your words will help someone struggling . I can’t wait to see your reaction to S3 I’ll be here waiting!
Agreed with what you're saying about not commenting on people's weights, whether it's to say that they're "too fat" or "too skinny", but in some situations you should totally comment on it. Anorexia as a disorder is often a very convoluted cry for help that manifests somatically. If that's the reason why you're starving yourself and, since nobody is commenting on it, it seems to you like nobody realizes how malnourished you've recently become or even cares about it if they do realize, that's often the point at which you think "ok, I'm gonna make you realize how sick I really am, and if showing it to you costs me my own life then so be it", start starving yourself even more hardcore & your anorexia really escalates to its most dangerous extremes. If the weight of someone you're close to suddenly drops you should totally let them know that if this is a cry for help you're seeing it & you're there for them, don't let it slide.
I think Nick addressed it delicately in both instances and showed his love and support. He knows he doesn’t understand it but reassures Charlie that he wants to be there for him. He wants to be Charlie’s rock and it takes the pressure off Charlie to bottle up.

Second I was crushed by your statement that the art work in museums were fake (I mean if it is it makes sense and I have thought about it) So I googled it and did not get a definite answer. But I did see something that said unless stated otherwise the painting were the real ones in museums.
I hope that is the case cause the first time I saw an El Greco, Picasso, Matisse or Monet I thought how cool it was to be standing in front of a painting that the original artist stood in front of.
