If the Original Border of Life is a song signifying Yuyuko's afterlife as a ghost; Carefree and Whimsical, then this arrange would signify her the time when she was still alive, sad and very much alone. Since she could not find happiness when she was alive, she found it in her afterlife
Death is...death is a gift. Death is what makes us who we are. Can you imagine if you were to be unable to die? To quote Mokou, "If you cannot die, then you are not truly alive." If we each and everyone of us lived forever, we'd never create...we'd never progress....and worst of all, we'd never be able to leave our most precious gift. Memories.
I think TAMusic's Pianist(s) has one of the best arrangement for lot of touhou songs, where most of touhou piano arrangements are very fast paced and technical, TAMusic makes simples arrangements but keep all the emotions in their songs, and this is awesome.
This song makes me feel like weeping towards the end and I don't even have anything in particular to be really sad about. Dang, I don't get that way with too many songs. It just forces the emotion out of you.
There so many beautiful comentaries, sad and some reflectives too.. that fact just make this song more beautiful than he actually is. I dont know and never see anyone right here but i hope you'all are good, safe and happy.
Everyone that is currently mourning the death of a loved one like myself, do not worry yourselves because Yuyuko is watching over their spirits or have gone to heaven so don't worry :)
Death... is the beautiful epitome of sorrow. Death is not an end... It is a reunion with past friends. For without Death, you can never join those dearest to you... It is what gives us the feeling of being alive. Not knowing when you never die, let's you feel the joy of living. Sorrow is a beautiful emotion. It brings out the beautiful and true self that lies hidden within the human heart. Immortality is not a blessing... It is a curse, that takes away the joy of life. Only a fool, would seek it
@yuukoichi It's not so much a concept of exchange, but more a concept of a cycle that must be completed for the universe to continue existing. But your look on it still works.
Imperfection is what keeps humans lively since they have something to strive for. That's what defines us as alive. Pefection cannot exist because that would be boring and/or lonely. 1 perfect person= Lonely, Everyone perfect= Boring When you think about it logically, everything has a flaw. There can be something close to perfect but there will be something better but still not perfect. Does that sound a bit cheesy? That's just my way of thinking.
@KitsuneDzelda Death isn't a curse. It's a means of making sure the universe doesn't lose all the energy it has. If no one died, there would not be any energy left at some point to make new things.
why everyone fear death? because it a proof that we are not almithy, that we, can disapears, that we are not essential. something people want to ignore, to denied, because its simple maybe to think that ''i can do anything''? but the true is, we are going to die, and the most important is ''what after death?'', but ''did you accept it?''. and why people fear immortality? because of the same thinks that before: you can't control everything, people around us will die, and we have to accept the lost. because people are not our property, and inside, we always consider the other like this. because we don't learn how to live without dependence of other. an hermit can be immortal, because he don't need people, he will live, meet people, and accept the goodbye. in summary of what i said, is that we don't learn how to be humble, so we fear death, that recall of our fragile condition, and we don't learn to be humble, because we want to control a lot of thing, our life, and that mean, the persons we care abouts. not to be a puppeter, but we don't learn to consider the friend, the lover, or family like a person, that have a fragile condition too, and so, can't accept the fact of that person dissapear.
Tears, my friend. Tears is what has happened when I read this... poetically beautiful, true in it's most basic form... The mixture of the music and the poem you have bestowed upon us and everyone who comes here... is a gift. A gift I will treasure, hold close and remember. May you shine on and may you shine bright, Silphy the Poet.
Absolutely stunningly beautiful rendition, and yet all so tragic.. This particular song perfectly conveys the story of Yuyuko perfectly. Damnit.. Now it's making me depressed..
I'm fairly certain someone's composed some sheet music for this song (Border of Life) but I don't believe any exists for this particular version. :\ Can't help you out as to where to download it either as I was looking for it myself. Good luck though!
Being Immortal means suffering through the pain of having to lose everything around you including your friends and possessions. Even if you you live forever, nothing else can. You can no longer so the thrill of living on the border of life. Everyone around you perishes. Your attachments still linger. Death is a nice idea once we have fulfilled our wishes or else live an endless tragedy.
Whenever I hear this song...It reminds me of how sad my life is...and also of Yuyuko's. But this has a heavenly touch to this, that makes me cry to this. This is my new favorite version of Border of Life now!
TAMusic has NEVER failed to impress me. With almost all touhou circles, there's at least one song where I say "Eew. They could have done so much better. D:". But nope, not this one. Gorgeous.
I have a friend who's been missing for a year and six months. Talked to him basically every day online for TEN years, and now suddenly he's disappeared from facebook, msn messenger, PS3 network... I used to pester the shit out of him with touhou songs, and they eventually grew on him. :P I think this is one of the few he'd grudgingly admit to liking. No sense in being sad over it, though; he's listening, afterall.
The entire nature is based around an endless cycle of life and death, one can't exist without the other. Death is not a gift on its own perse, but very necessary nonetheless. You sure wouldn't be here if your ancestors, or everything living, would be immortal.
Death can not be avoided. People who wish to avoid it seek the path of misery. Those who hold to the world and not move on are unaware of change, allowing them to not see the future. Sadness is brought to all all three, but only one is unachievable. Those who achieve immortality will suffer more than any of the three.
Where do we go after we die? Is there an afterlife? Will we experience a neverending cycle of reincarnation? Or will we enter an empty void? What does it feel to be immortal, to never experience death? Will it be nice, as we can enjoy worldly pleasures for as long as we live (ie; an eternity)? Will we endure more heartbreak than other people will endure for the entirety of their lives, due to seeing everyone close to us die? How will the end of the world ensue in the perspective of an immortal? I'm just afraid to die, but I don't want to be immortal ;^;
Why do we even exist? Does life have meaning? Do we exist only to die? Fuck, I should be studying for my IGCSEs right now instead of pondering the meaning of life and death...
Actually, there isn't that big difference in difficulty between Easy and Normal. No one gets a new spellcard, they only get few "improvements" and every pattern is faster and more dense. I'd say it does about 30-40% extra difficulty. The gap between Normal and Hard is HUGE, though. New, brutal spellcards, and the old ones are even deadlier than before.
since noone is immortal noone can know what it would be like to be immortal. personally i would see it as a chance to gain a complete understanding the universe. transhumanism is the idea of humans becoming immortal through technology and possibly even becoming something like what religious people might call a god.
Will you all kindly stfu and enjoy the music? Jeez, people always find the smallest reasons to start pointless, endless arguments, and I really can't see how anyone can be even slightly angry while listening to such a beautiful song.
Immortality is a fine idea. Being immortal by yourself WOULD suck, but what if everyone was immortal? barring the problems with space and food, it would nice if one day death was an OPTION, not a reality we are all forced to deal with. Space travel and colonization are one solution to the space problem, laws about procreation is another (vastly less popular I would imagine though). And ill keep my opinion of the 'if you cant die, you can never live' melodrama to myself i think.
@AmvFr34k A perfect world? A world where we each live forever? If every person had forever, then there would be no drive. What is it that drives ambition? When it comes down to it, no matter how you may try to justify your reason for doing something, it comes down to, "because you may not have that chance again." Right? A world with immortality is not a perfect world, it is a world that means -nothing-
But then, would we be perfect? We aren't gods, but just immortal. Can we ever overcome human weaknesses like xenophobia? Would things like wars would stop just because we're immortal? The old gods in Roman and Greek literature sure didn't. Maybe we would be happy, but immortality also means more freedom, even now, there are many people who start things like forest fires for their own pleasure, having no fear of death also means you can do many more 'bad' things with barely any consequences.
i was play a sports game whiling listening to this and the song may me feel like i was playing a meanless match like the end was always gonna be a sad and depressing result
Death is not good nor bad. It's just a part of the eternal circle of creation and destruction, existence and non-existence. Everything in this world has light and darkness, positive and negative. Without the darkness there wouldn't be any light. So there wouldn't be life without the death. The death itself is not your enemy nor your friend. It's just a necessity to maintain this balance.
@AmvFr34k While I can see your point, to an extent. No, I don't think it'd be a matter of sitting on a rock accomplishing -nothing- it'd be a strive to fix things. We'd solve world hunger, achieve world peace, and all these other good things, we really would. I believe that. It'd be utopia in that sense. But then what?
The most beautiful adaptation of Border of Life I've ever heard. 5 stars. I'm sorry to bother you, and to sound like one of those really annoying people, but can I get the download link for this? I want this piece of music played in my funeral.

I think this song touched my heart for a second there. Unbelievably sad yet expressive music. Good job Tamusic!

Beautiful arrangement.
Deep philosophy along with a beautiful piece of music. It all ties in so well
This version definitely depicts Yuyuko's sad story...T_T
It's so beautiful too....

Finally got this song downloaded. It's quite the lovely song.
This should never be listened to while reading "Two by this Side, Three by the Other Side" unless you want to drown in feels.
agree with this. the melody really fits the story. the moment she read her diary when she was alive. damn feels
wow, its already been 2 years. Completely forgot about that doujin. time for a reread
ahaha... I read it first a year ago and still love it so much. well, personal color really full of doujins like that after all
Best touhou doujin I've read so far, by FAR.
made that mistake already. ;-;
This is a really beautiful song TAMusic have done really soft and good music
That's awesome, now I wanna hear a slow violin solo version of Border of Life!!
TAM Music always makes me feel emotional.

Yep. Sometimes death is a mercy.

answer: no
Well in the world of Touhou immortals seem to just keep punching eachother until they are bored

There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ.
Put your trust in him.
This life is just the beginning. We go into Newgame+ in Version 2.0 afterwards.
Kay. Like...When I clicked Yuyuko's theme I DID NOT EXPECT THE COMMENT BOX TO BE SO DEEP...
I suddenly have the urge to hug a ghost.
makes me sleep, so relaxin' love it -w-
I'm not gonna cry, I'm not gonna cry...

The laws of thermodynamics applies to a closed and constant sized system. So even then they don't even apply to our universe.

Here from Touhou Sketches Yuyuko Saigyouji Edition.
@ReimuHakureiShrine ...
I'll donate.
Enough to make the hakurei shrine more famous than the Moriya Shrine.

not to be insensitive but I'm pretty sure this is lifted from some of Porky's final lines in Mother 3
LOVE this version! sheet music please =)

I can see Yuyuko saying this.
fuck that I don't want to die. Unlike yuyuko I can't still function, think, and experience after death.

@Crushmaster01 I wouldn't make baseless assumptions such as her killing her own family like that. It makes the character look bad.
no, life is an imprissoning, death is freedom
the quote is indeed correct
@yevonator88 Be like the pros- get the sheet music for the original song, and mess with it, until you get a nice-sounding mix of it.
I can barely 1cc PCB on easy, I don't even wanna think about what Yuyuko's like on Normal...
I had never searched up "TAMUSIC" on TH-cam until now. How have I been so ignorant?
A theme worthy of the Dead Mistress of the Eternal Netherworld.
@KitsuneDzelda Why must you think death as a curse?
@rebbybeckers1987 is there still no sheets for this version? even just someone playing it on an angle i can follow to get me started?

Exactly.
such a prettie song.. ;w;
The most beautiful adaptation of Border of Life I've ever heard. 5 stars.
I'm sorry to bother you, and to sound like one of those really annoying people, but can I get the download link for this? For some reason all the youtube converters don't work on some Border of Life songs, and I really love this version.
13 years later, now there should be one that can download it
@comedylov Corny it may be, but you can't change someone's mind if they like an arrange. And I'm a female, if you haven't noticed... If there's a simple connection between a listener and music, let it be. I personally look back, and am embarrassed by my own comment. It was indeed corny, but I can't take it back now.
感動與傷逝,聲聲漫無期。
One's in Tam's "Koiiro Touhou Komoriuta" album. Dunno if it's on youtube.
@GentlemanAeon777 Thank you
Hahaha, and you're worse for making a comment like such. =P
It's a nice song. I can see how you can make it sad or how it reminds you of how sad your life is, but there is a wonderful sound to it.
Fuck, this is great.
Finally someone who's not an hypocrite...
Son of a...I think i'm gonna cry. *sniff* .....Dammit.
@KitsuneDzelda Seeing how everything is easily taken away from you, im afraid not even memories stands permanent.
This + RainyMood. Just try it.
Well,it is raining in my place when I am listening this.
2008 😲
At least there are many ways to remove such things as immortality in gensokyo^^
So no need for mokou to suffer unless she chose to
Or were Lunarians since they seem to shun/hate those that can die - considering them to be sinful and impure. To become a ghost you have to die yes?
(Though they do seem to be fond of ghosts due to the absence of life...?)
Hell, I don't get the whole "omg GHOSTS /;_;"-comments but..
This is one awesome piece of music.
@BadAssBlackOverlord That was.. Overly stupid and harsh :D
Actually, Eirin's not immortal. Youmu isn't immortal, but since she's already half dead, she will end up as a full ghost like Yuyuko. Just pointing out a few mistakes you made. ^^;
Heh. I just 1cc'd Perfect Cherry Blossom at Normal. Holy shit, when Yuyuko fired her Resurrection butterfly, I sweated bullets.
@blazethecat363: People will sought anything that they don't have and if ever the time comes where people have everything they will seek for nothingness.
why didnt i hear this when it came out T_T
Wow, I completely forgot about that comment. I'm surprised by the fact it's the top one. I still say I wouldn't choose immortality though, I would want to experience death as well as life. It's just more fulfilling in my eyes.
Does anyone have the piano sheet for this? It's so beautiful.

Is there absolutely anywhere to get sheet music to this?
3 people who dislike this died.
