Happy birthday to your mom, Pat. My quilter husband and I have been organizing our studio this month, thanks to your organization extravaganza inspiration. Our local library has an annual fabric sale on Super Bowl Sunday and is currently taking donations, so everything we don’t want to keep will go to the library sale. Win-win situation! ❤

Thank you for showing the Pumpkin Applique pattern! I saw it in a sewing shop, made as a wall hanging, about 2 years ago but was not able to find the name of the pattern. I took a picture with my phone & have been collecting fabric for it ever since.
The minute you opened that box, I knew it was what I've been searching for 😃!

The bins, that you so very kindly, shared with me where to get them, have been wonderful. Sure takes the guess work out when trying to remember what quilt pattern went with what fabric!!! Some fabric was bought specifically for a certain pattern. Having them all together really helps. I loved the block you added today!! That quilt is going to be amazing.

I pulled out all of my kits about 10 days ago to list them and then prioritize them. I have the the ones I want to do soon close to eye level and easy to reach. I have all of them in Art bin boxes like your blue ones. Now I just need to sew them up LOL I do have a few maybe kits. They might have to go to a new home. Happpy Birthday to your Mom.

I love thenWolderness quilt and have wanted to do it for my daughter who lives in Colorado! Maybe a quilt along??
We are moving house, so I decided to take this opportunity to ‘clean out’ my patchwork stash (all items on knitting and crochet are already gone) I am a bit surprised at the quantity of stuff that I find ! 😱 I pulled all the fabric, kits, notions, etc from all the various corners of the house into one room. I have just finished the fabric stash : declutter, sort, put them by color ,.. and all the ‘unwanted’ is gone : donated, thrashed, sold. I think I reduc3d to half what I used to have. Now I am up to the notions… It is indeed a relieve of some kind😁 to declutter
That block today is just “happiness” personified. Very cute.

I'm sure you don't need any ideas for planning your quilting life but... saw that you have the fabric pulled for the mountain themed quilt. I also have the fabric ready to roll for that one. It would be so fabujous if you'd do a quilt along for that one. You are very inspriing and have encouraged me to just get things done!

I put a kit together as my mom wanted me to make a quilt for her, but then she saw a different one after I had already put the kit together. So instead of taking the kit apart I decided to make the quilt for my cousin.

That de-constructing suggestion was so great for me. I had never contemplated that but now I will. I have 2 quilt kits that are probably 20 years or more old. I'm not going to do the quilt but I can de-construct and use the fabric somewhere else. I have no idea why that never occurred to me before.

I have managed not to have any kits. How did that happen?!? Wow! I generally avoid kits as I don’t want to be forced to follow instructions. Ha Ha. Though I do for quilt alongs.

Love your Scrappiness quilt & surprisingly, I’m loving mine as well. I didn’t think I would. I think what I gleaned from today is the great idea of creating my own kits and putting them in zip loc bags, instead of having the fabric and pattern separately and the idea in my head. Thank you !

I made a commitment to myself to make the kits & projects that have been in the drawer for a while this year, will save me a ton of money and space to make them.
I have kits… many, many kits! 2023 goal is to complete all the kits! I chose 1 for each month… one of them is your Bird Song panel. Even after I complete the kids I planned this year for… I still have more 😱. BUT… they will all get done, I love them all, so they will get done.

I’m starting the Shark quilt this week. I bought the kit last week. Also I did take a kit apart I really liked the fabric but the pattern didn’t strike me right now so I decided to use it for a BOM.
I also went through my kits and repurposed one that didn’t work for me to use in Pat’s Wednesday sew along! Thanks again Pat for your great ideas! 😊

So fun Pat! 🎉 I missed the live today but I’ll enjoy looking at Scrappiness. So behind as always lol. Thanks for the great tips for picking fabrics. I don’t have any kits but have started quite a few wips with all the sew alongs. Getting those organized has been fun with my new bins and shelf! I’ll post as soon as it’s finished. 👍

There are a lot of Facebook pages used to sell sewing/quilting things.
The other thing you can do if you do not want to do the pattern you can find a different project for the fabric. I did that with my Liberty box. I did want to do the pattern but I liked the fabric. So I am now using it for a sew along. I have one kit. I have sewed all of them but one. I will do it it will be in memory of my husband.

Kits I no longer want to make. I take them apart for sew alongs. I did have around 40 kits. Can you believe that ? Now I might have around 15.

All I have for kits are OLD embroidery or wool kits. I keep those few in a sewing box near my recliner, in case I get an urge to do SOMETHING. I am afraid they are too tiny for my eyes now. We will see. I used to do cross stitch, but it looks so tiny now!
I counted my kits at the end of December…..264….I definitely have a problem!!
It’s also my grandson’s 6th birthday.
I order a kit, have it for a while, then decide to use the fabric for something else. For instance, we have shop hops and at the time, I liked the featured blocks that each shop had. So I bought the kit, but decided I didn’t like the pattern. So little by little, I’ve been using the fabrics.
Unless I'm missing something, I can't find on FQS site how to purchase January's Sew Sampler Box by itself. The link takes me to the subscription page. I subscribed for over a year, but cancelled last year as I was getting too many small things/notions I wouldn't use. Yes, the value is there because of the fabrics & pattern you receive & of course I gifted to others what I didn't want. But at the time, I didn't feel I could justify continuing it.

So you clearly block off time in your schedule to do sew alongs from your sponsors, along with those you design. How do you find time to do the quilts you want to do personally? For example, I keep thinking I’d like to do a sew along here or there, but my list of projects underway or still to be started gets in the way.
I sew what I like to sew. I do not have sponsors of my business. I do not have to do anything for other companies. I only sew projects I want to do.
@@PatSloan Well that’s handy. Actually, it’s amazing. Well done, you. I just assumed you had a business relationship with the Fat Quarter Shop, since you participate in sew many of their sew alongs, and get there monthly box and such.
