    Man Canada has soooooo many issues ! Healthcare , rent , inflation etc never ending . Yes they have no shelters plus people are living together despite the abuse because they can’t survive financially to live separately. But definitely as a woman I prefer to live in Canada than in Pakistan .

If you lose your job there is Employment Insurance, there is other forms of government support, education, healthcare is free. Love this talk about western countries and their hypocrisy while sitting in Pakistan. None are perfect but life for vast majority is much better in America than in Pakistan. Looking from the lense of upper middle class Pakistani is not the same as anyone below that. There is no law and order in Pakistan. Quality of life is no where close. Please don't misguide people.

      Might is right is the way of whole society in Pakistan. For anyone in doubt about this you can just walk into any housing society in Karachi specially the ones where middle class is also living like on the outskirts of DHA Karachi. You just ask the middle/lower class residents how they are treated by the administration there and then compare it to the upper class in the same society .
      You will have your answer that the apple is rotten to the core.

      Health care and education is free there yes which sounds great but its managed terribly in Canada and even the US, I'm not saying we're perfect but the pakistani system of going about with patients is way better than Canadian or American system which has alot of insurance involved and usually you have to wait a very long time for approvals of documents and insurance to actually get major surgeries done, which at times can worsen the patients condition and this is coming from someone who has faced this issue. Even within the UK its notorious that patients have to wait weeks to actually get appointments from general physicians. I'm sure the treatment itself is better however alot goes on behind the scenes for a simple surgery or appointment to be made.

The shelters may not be enough in Canada but the definition of domestic violence is different in both countries. A woman is safer at 3 am in Canada than 6 pm at liberty market. Lived experience in four countries as a single woman!

    Canada is trying to do major efforts to reconcile with the natives and indigenous people..
    This message is now read at many public events. It reads like this.
    For example:
    Land Acknowledgement for Toronto
    We acknowledge the land we are meeting on is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We also acknowledge that Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.
    It is just a beginning.
    I met the guest a reading at Mosaic and respectfully felt that he has limited observation on which he speculates on General.

  • @AhSaNL11
    @AhSaNL11 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    The current situation in Canada is challenging, especially for new migrants. It takes about 7 to 10 years for newcomers to properly settle and find decent salaried work. Most recent migrants are students who don't have family support and live in terrible conditions. They don't really have free healthcare either, as they aren't Canadian citizens yet, so they must buy health insurance, which can cost $100 to $200 a month. If you move to Canada from a lower-middle-class background, you might find it a lot better than Pakistan, but if you're from an upper-middle-class background, you'll likely have second thoughts about why you even moved. The first four years here will be filled with stress, anxiety, and depression.

    Don't be too harsh on yourself. You are a very young country and will take few more decades to find correct path, if not more. Even your history is no older then 77yrs, as before that, it was someone else's history, which you don't own.

    • @shadowknight00
      @shadowknight00 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      77 years granted may not be long enough when it comes to a country,but it still is a long amount of time. We wouldn't be this negative if we had any hopes of betterment. Living here is like being stuck in the past. Nothing gets improved, empty promises by the politicians, hate crimes, street crimes are rampant. Inflation is booming, jobs are scarce and the ones which are available offer pathetic salaries which don't even cover the commute from home to workplace and vice versa. Broken roads, no gas, high petrol prices, extremely high electricity bills along with load shedding,Water issues and so on. As an 18 year old, who hasn't seen any improvement in these 2 decades, I am hopeless of this nation and it's people. It's like we don't deserve happiness. So yeah, it's easy to say that don't lose hope, but it's harder to believe in it.

    Health care is shit in canada. Is it free? Yes.
    But people die in emergency rooms… why ? Because the best case scenario is 7 hours wait…for emergency…. And don’t get me started on doctors and appointments. It took me 6 months to get neurologist’s appointment for an issue that was described as vital. And then another 4 months for just an MRI

      Couple of things….
      I am a she… not he..and i am from India.
      The only reason that’s keeping me in Canada is that as a woman i am more secure, independent and safe in canada. I don’t like living here at all. If someone wants to leave any South Asian country, they really should. But just an advice, don’t come to Canada. Choose another country. People of Canada are moving away from Canada because of economy and all of the things Adeel noticed. Everyone deserves to live in a country where they are treated with equal respect and opportunities, regardless of their gender, religion, race and caste. Canada is that place but that doesn’t mean it’s a heaven and all is shiny and happy here. Just saying, if someone wishes to start their life in a different country, choose something with better economic situation and where you can afford a home. Because now in Canada, good luck buying a home👍. You can’t afford it, unless you have been living here for 15 years.
      But i hope things get better. Government is trying to make it right.
      And i know people who have moved back to India merely because of health care. I had to go to India for medical reasons. It sucks that the country you live in can’t provide you healthcare care when you need it. It is a big problem. Mainly because they don’t have enough healthcare workers.

    • @shamankaur-m5t
      @shamankaur-m5t 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Werchmant people have right to criticize the country they live in and government that is serving them. I had a terrible experience with healthcare here. As a resident, i have every right to criticize and ask questions about things i pay for with my Tax. What do you expect? Ask no questions? Say nothing Just because i immigrated here for better opportunities and living standards? Should I be grateful for it? Sure! I am. But not critique it’s bad things? Nah! I am living here. Paying tax. I will criticize. And then give chance to government to fix it. That’s how any country excels and maintain their living standards.

    Shahzad gave example of how expensive AKU is for healthcare. Mind you that is the most expensive hospital of Pakistan where 99% of Pakistanis can't even think of going. Come and see the healthcare system of Punjab (which has many problems i know) but it is a life saver for lower middle class and lower class. Health care needs a lot of improvement but it is not like there isn't a social security net. School on the other hands are grave. Govt. colleges (1st year to 4th year) are much better.

    Canada is a capitalist society. Some political parties try to temper capitalist excesses to some extent.
    While the guest visited Brampton, he should have made an effort to meet NDP workers. The leader of this party has been. Sikh. This party is considered to be the conscience of Canadian politics. The party of social justice. It has governed several provinces and as official opposition in the parliament....

    The comparison between Canada and Pakistan is ignoring the working class in Pakistan. The guest says in Pakistan, you won't become homeless in a month. Is he aware of what happened in goths on super highway? Has he ever seen the homeless living under bridges in Karachi? He is a well spoken guy but he like many overseas and upper class Pakistanis they forget the pains of working class. Like how people (not the guest) glorify "everyone has househelp in Pakistan" jaisay ke househelp is some robot devoid of feelings and needs.

    What adeel is saying is true , there are lot of problems in west but only those who live on sustenance wages here know the truth, I am not saying it's worse than Pakistan but situation isn't rosy as it seems esepcially in Canada post covid, thier economy is stuck for past 10 years with same GDP per capita and taking in too many immigrants recently has created a housing & job problem. Single payer system like Canada's sucks big time , many people die waiting for surgeries and many people are not able to find an apppointment with PCP . In US if you don't pay th medicall bill , no one is going to come after you from collection agencies esepcially if you live in liberal states and you can negotiate the medical bills with agencies as they get sold over multiple times to other debtors.
