    Yes I was on a train that did exactly this. A massive amount of people waiting for the Mandurah a announcement came over due to the late service the next train will run Express to Cockburn Central from platform 2 then all stops to Mandurah. Sometimes it was the other direction. From Mandurah To Rockingham then Express to Cockburn Central then all stops to Perth

    Mark thinks there’s something wrong with the train and what does he do?
    He goes on it.

    My theory (Note - This is comming from someone who knows little about trains.)
    I believe that there may have been a fault with the pantograph. When looking at the train as it is departing Clarkson you can see the pantograph was down on set 49, now this explains why the lights were off as the back train would've been running off what i'm assuming is the battery. The battery only turns/ enables on the essencial things like doors, some of the lights and announcements but when the pantograph is connected its changed to that. Now it really could've been anything but im gonna go with either its something to do with the pantograph, such as a short or a break problem. Now i'm not claiming to know what happened, it's my theory. Post urs below?
    Thanks for reading : )

      Yes but that doesn't explain the smoking wheels / brakes.

      my guess is a tranformer blew, or maybe a motor, so they shut down all the electrics and just ran on batteries to be safe

    Re comment about domain stadium express, while I don’t live in Perth, I would guess it would simply be express West Leederville to Canning Bridge, this would be a similar pattern to the Yanchep line does at present from Burswood stadium where it simply goes express through Perth but stops everywhere else on the line from Leederville onwards. Hope that makes sense

    I always wondered what the train would look like with just half of lights 😂 now I found out ❤

    That would be pretty funny if 5064 went on the Cockburn siding.

    1. This is slightly similar to what happened in Justin’s video a few days ago.
    2. Also I want to ask when I visit Perth is it best to change at Perth or EQ from the Mandurah line to Joondalup line?

    • @Pigeon_journey
      @Pigeon_journey ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joondalup trains becomes Mandurah line at Elizabeth quay, same for the other way

    • @TransportofPerth
      @TransportofPerth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As stated above, almost all Joondalup Line trains become Mandurah Line trains, and vice versa. There are just a few late at night and early morning which don't, as well as on Stadium event days like here, every second Mandurah Line train terminates at Perth, so then you can just change there to Joondalup Line.

    Just need to replace the faulty pantograph prong you can see where its collapsed so it won’t be out of service for too long so was just running on the batteries. The faulty prong would be where the burning electrical smell would be coming from. They are about to start the midlife refurbishment and completely rebuild them once the new shed at Nowergup is complete and stow roads have been reconfigured to accommodate the C series.

    • @Tysxno
      @Tysxno ปีที่แล้ว

      When they rebuild, will interiors be changed to match the new C-Series?

      @@Tysxno not entirely sure what they’ll look like when they’re refurbished however it should be starting soon once the stow roads @Nowergup have been reconfigured road 16 and I think road 17 are operational. I can definitely see it being promoted on social media

    Can I ask when filming on a train you stand in one stop. When you constantly move around it feels like you are on a boat.

    • @TransportofPerth
      @TransportofPerth  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'll try to next time, it's just my excitement that I want to be moving around and checking in the whole train when something like this happens, especially when I was checking if there is still a burning smell at the back. It was mostly fine for the Mandurah Line section though.

    I know that the week before 126 smelt Smokey, odd.

    • @jayyy092
      @jayyy092 ปีที่แล้ว

      If it wasn’t an electrical smell it would have just been some very hot brakes if the driver had to stop suddenly nothing to worry about. An electrical smell would just be a hot pantograph possibly from just a slight change in the voltage supply potentially over voltage causing the contact wire to arc or burn

    • @rileythedude
      @rileythedude ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jayyy092 I think I know the smell mark describes in the video as I was there right after IDV001 was extinguished after catching fire back in January.

      @YaBoySpeed2 No B-Series has retired?? Set 49 was the first ever B-Series... Express in this sense just means that stops are being skipped.

    • @TransportofPerth
      @TransportofPerth  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @YaBoySpeed2 ... I don't know where you got this from... No B-Series has retired. Set 49 was the first from 2004. Sets 1-48 are A-series, many of which are from 1991 and still not retired. Why would they retire a train after only six years???
