I've been watching your videos for years now. All the way back from your really old classical drum covers! I saw this, and was so excited you're still at it. When I was little kid, watching you make those faces and making beautiful music made me so happy! Now I'm 18, drumming in my own band, Inheritance. Thank you for being so awesome, Vadrum!
Andrea! For 6 years you're my favorite drummer. For 6 years I've been waiting for the DT full covers. The dreams came true. So, waiting for the "Count of Tuscany" cover ;)
That always was one of my most favorite songs from Dream Theater and I've been waiting on you to do a cover of it - now my day's gotten a little better... :)
Grandissimo come sempre. Non vorrei ripetermi anche perchè te lo stanno già chiedendo in tanti ma... aspettiamo the count of tuscany ;) grazie per questa perla.
I also think you would've been a good "replacement" for Mike Portnoy when he unfortunately left the band, but yeah the distance between Italy and the USA was the only matter i guess... :P
Pascal Steffens Pretty sure Dream Theater is a big enough band that a simple move, or some distance wouldn't be a huge problem. Guys from all over the globe tried out. Mike got it because he is talented and very well known. Dude has been a legend among drummers for decades and I'm not even that big of a fan of the band, or either Mike.
In DT rest assured... He's fuckin awesome, but for some reason *cough* petrucci, he plays like a god damn robot/drum machine in DT. Do me a favor will ya, listen to the enemy inside original song and afterwards look at this video where he makes his own arrangements, not petrucci influenced. th-cam.com/video/aDTYWwqchhQ/w-d-xo.html
Complimenti!
Could you please do a video of your set? I would love to see things like what you use to pad your bass drums. Or maybe what your cymbals are. Also AMAZING JOB!!!!! Just something to think about for the lovers of drumming or someone just getting into it.
I might do a B/B set up next as a metal kit. Much more affordable for a 7pc kit than pure SC Bubingas. I got a 4 pc Bubinga shell kit already and I see these are pretty popular with intermediate/ professional metal players.
Great job man! When I walked away from my computer and focused on just the audio, I could swear it was Portnoy playing the drums. How much time did you spend perfecting his little nuances? Or did that just come naturally? I mean, MP is an influence on us all, right?
Could You do some of avenged sevenfolds songs? I love some of their songs and I would love more if you do a drum cover you are the Best drummer in the world
Boi.This is part of the 12 step suite of dream theater. The first song out of all 5 songs being glass prison. This 5th song is the finale and a mashup of all 5.
Thank god he is picking the correct era of DT songs to play. There is actually soul in this music and drum parts. Before you flip out on me: Mangini is "technically" and "dynamically" a great drummer with amazing limb independence. But my god is his parts written with DT are so boring and lifeless and just no cohesion with the group anymore
sw1tched I'd argue the songs are more cohesive with Mangini. Portnoy had an active role in songwriting which Mangini didn't inherit. It's basically just been Rudess and Petrucci writing songs and not worrying about whether the songs fit the drums Mike wants to play. Mangini has write drums to fit the song, which may sound less cohesive as a band sound, but is more cohesive from a songwriting perspective because Jordan & John don't have to collab with "what the drummer thinks", giving it a more melodic feel, and not just a tech/chop clinic. Songs feel cohesive. You're not gonna get a "Metropolis Pt. 1" with Mangini because he has no influence on the writing beyond the rhythm section. Idk if that's necessarily a bad thing, cuz that's already been done. You shouldn't really expect a band like DT's sound to stay stagnant, especially with a new member. It's kinda like expecting Chris Collins, Charlie Dominici, & James Labrie to all sound alike and bring the same things to the table, which would bring into question why the first two would be fired anyway if that were the case, and also why Labrie is still in the band.
sw1tched I have to agree with you.Portnoy era was great. And lyrics were great too.He was more on feel than technicality like Mangini. He was basically the heart of the band.
I don't always say this, but I really like Mangini's version of this song better. All the little emblishments he added in Breaking the Fourth Wall seem just... missing in the original. I didn't miss them before, of course :D
We Want More Dream Theater!!!
Hell yeah
You look happy as fuck playing, which of course is awesome!
Diego González maybe because he has the best gear which would make any drummer happy 😂
Nice job on the suite. For your next one (if you take requests!) you should do all sections of Six Degrees of inner Turbulence!

Or why not "A Nightmare to Remember" for crazy bass drum!
It's very subjective. I just love this composition:) with trying to play it on drums want to see Andrea's technique and use it :)
Totally agree though :) Andrae's vids are great to learn techniques!
That always was one of my most favorite songs from Dream Theater and I've been waiting on you to do a cover of it - now my day's gotten a little better... :)
Incredible! You made such complex drum parts look so easy! I'm a big fan back from Brazil enjoying every single project you're on. Keep it up!
I've been in the drumming scene for a long time, you're my friend, one of the greatest drummers i even seen, wow.
Super preciso, molto gustoso...ho goduto in tutti i passaggi..grande batterista, stile inimitabile, bravo👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Grandissimo come sempre. Non vorrei ripetermi anche perchè te lo stanno già chiedendo in tanti ma... aspettiamo the count of tuscany ;) grazie per questa perla.
La aspettavo da una vita sta cover che concludesse la twelve step suite
I also think you would've been a good "replacement" for Mike Portnoy when he unfortunately left the band, but yeah the distance between Italy and the USA was the only matter i guess... :P

You are amazing. Congrats!!!
I would have preferred Andrea as drummer for dt, I've never been able to enjoy manginis playing no matter how hard I tried
Also Andrea's drums sound much better than manginis

Do you have your car alarm on the table on your left? XD amazing cover!
This song's riff that starts at 1:45 sounds like This Dying Soul.

1.25 plz
Andrea Portnoy Vadrum the best👍🤘
The snare sound does not mashed up with another. Give it lil' clarity.
