They Are In Dream Theater And Since Then. Until 2010 When Portnoy Joined Avenged Sevenfold Until 2023/2024. They Have Been Reunited And Making Singles. BTW They Are Currently On Tour Around EU And USA.
With Portnoy back, they’re finally sounding as they were supposed to. Yes sir, the chemistry is definitely there. I’m going to see them here in Seattle next year and Chicago too.
I think a big part of it is them being in the band. They all start as great musicians and in the process of writing music over the years they all push each other to become absolute legends.
Folks: Remeber this is .01% of what they have written. There is more amazing idea's and hooks in just this single track than any of us would dream to write in our lifetime.
For me this sounds a lot like progressive music. The drummer guy is quite good. I also noted the intensive karate moves by the keyboardianist at 05:50.
Wow, these guys really know how to play, maybe they should find more dudes to play guitar, bass and do some vocals and dream of playing in a theater some day, :D.
He doesn't have to. He has an extraordinary technique for playing every drum or cymbal at the perfect volume so he doesn't need to reinforce the power of the snare
I really like this combo of drums and just another instrument. It really showcases the other instrument other than the drums and shows the complexity of it. I would love to see Mike play it with only Petrucci and then with Myung.
He uses a foot pedal to change his patches. All the songs are programmed with the patches he needs, in order...like a set list. He just needs to remember when to change!
Here's the ugly truth about a lot of music today. It's "hearable" as long as the visual is also present. This is a very cool performance to watch (and hear) but I suspect, if the visual wasn't available, that you wouldn't actually pop this into your home stereo or car and enjoy it the same way. And if you do, how many more times would you put this song on? Once? Twice? Thrice?? The visual keeps most musicians in business, which is fine, but their main priority is not the visual, but the audio. Same with the "Siberiano" drummer. Amazing talent! Genius! The guy is unbelievable! But how much of his drumming would you listen to if the visual aspect isn't available??
I guess that's kind of true that the visual enhances the instrumental songs more than something with vocals. I would probably listen to these kind of songs more driving around town than sitting at home.
I have been listening to this for years lol All of their instrumental songs are very fun to listen to. I suspect what's wrong is people's expectations and low attention span. If you stop and listen carefully, you will realize that the melody that is usually expressed through singing is there but through other instruments. If you play this to people who only listen to popular music, you can see their reaction as their brain can't handle it at first: it's just a matter of getting used to it, just like, say, classical music, etc. It takes time👍
@@BoxyMelody You realize that “Not my tempo” scene isn’t supposed to be taken seriously, right? You can’t expect people to have perfect recall of a specific tempo.
I certainly respect the craft but this doesn’t really do it for me. The keyboard just lacks a level of intensity - it doesn’t feel like it fits. It makes it sound like the hard part of an old video game or something. I should give their discography more of a chance, but this always seems to be the song people point to.
This is literally without most of the band on it, of course the keyboard can't carry a metal song without the guitar lol. I do agree you dont need to start with dance of eternity tho, listen to other songs by them, they got hooks and fun stuff in their normal songs
I love this band, but the obsession with this song because of the technically challenging aspect just doesn't do it for me. This is the only track on scenes I sometimes skip. There are more interesting songs!

They should put a band together
They do from the same band, Dream Theater
Along with John Petrucci, John Myung and James LaBrie
That would be great idea

Best Dance of Eternity Keyboard and Drum Cover Ever....... Nice

Creative! one from Pianote and another from Drumeo... Excellent work!
Oh yeah I thought this looked strangely familiar somehow.... I watched both of them when they came out.
0:32 that Gran Turismo sound on the keyboard
Exactly
Oh so that’s what that sounded like. I heard it and thought it sounded familiar but can’t quite put my finger on it. Thank you so much
which part of gran turismo ? 😅

magnificent like in a theater. should their band name be like "theater in a dream"? or just "dream theater"? 🤔
let's get Petrucci and Myung to do a cover. They can be a super band.

the should use old nintendo games as visuals for this

Just shut my mouth. And open my ears
Mike doesnt play rimshots? :o but why
He seems to be out shape, I guess he prioritized other stuff other than the music/instrument study perse. I'm Not a hater tho', he's always our guy :D
Maybe it's because his usual snare tone has much more of a crack to it, so he doesn't really need to, but that's pulling at strings a little

Hey, I'm a drummer, not a keyboard player and I was wondering, how the Keyboard is switching between all die modes? Is it linked to a "click"?
He uses a foot pedal to change his patches. All the songs are programmed with the patches he needs, in order...like a set list. He just needs to remember when to change!
The "all die" mode is a typical act of angry progressive rock keyboard players.
