Well she killed off Bond so what line is she holding? A dead cinematic character! Not a great line to be holding. Okay, with or without Amazon, Bond 26 will be a reboot but it's from a zero point. It's a full reboot which is potentially problematic to get right and Amazon are sneaky, ruthless, and it's obvious they'll use the reboot to take as much creative control as possible. If no compromise then expect litigation and that means a very long delay in seeing Bond 26.
10 episode spin off with Edris Elba as 001 'His Majesty Secret Service' A Young Bond series based on the Higgins novels. Neither would hurt 007 on the Big Screen.

The timing for Barbara’s brilliant staunch protection of the James Bond brand could not be better. She will ensure it does not go ‘jaguar’ on us. That would be the cinematic crime of the century.
James Bond is a tradition that must respected. No 3D, no cameos , no series, nothing of those childish concepts made just for profits. Bond is a cultural phenomenon since 1962. All my support to Mrs. Broccoli position of protecting the Bond Legacy. Amazon idiots.
Bond is Bond and should always stay true to the books and always be shown on the big Cinema Screen. A Bond movie is an experience. Well done to Barbara.

@@stuartd9741 Barbara Broccoli's part of the issue in my analysis. The terrible changes in the Craig era to Bond as a character, and the franchise more broadly, were at the very least made with her blessing, if not her insistence.
@@conrad1on I would agree, perhaps Barbara is stuck in the past abit, with "tried and tested" formula of doing things. And maybe Amazon could inject new blood into the franchise. I just don't trust Amazon. The latter is likely thinking of Disney-fying* Bond over a short term cycle, (10 years?) which may well ruin the franchise ...
How quickly they moved from the masterpiece formula of casion royale to what was nttd is insane. I don’t think we will ever get anything of the quality of CR again
@ i think the point is that we have moved past what can be done with any real freedom. The are so many constraints now that its highly unlikely a director would ever be given total free reign on decision making.

@@007dossier I think he has a very valid point. The Bond films used to be a fun, thrill ride, action, cheering the hero, and an utter blast to watch. The Craig films have been boring, poker faced misery. Not one of them had any sense of fun...a lot of them looked really cheap as well, not much going on. Casino Royal is raved about but its so bland, tedious and slow. The car chase is done on the cheap, at night and was filmed at the Test Track in England that Top Gear visited! Compared to the chase in Sardinia in Spy Who Loved me as just one example. That Lotus going off the pier into the sea to become a sub was utterly iconic instantly. The Craig films have never had a moment like that once....I cant even remember much about them at all, other than I was either bored, or depressed or both....Bond spending most of the back half of Casino Royal playing cards was like watching a late night poker channel on some obscure tv station....Compare that to the Volcano base in You Only Live Twice, or the mountain assault in Her Majesties Secret Service, or the Ski chase with motorbikes in For Your Eyes Only....I was never bored watching those Bond films and I can re watch them time and time again...as they are such fun and so charming, and have so many iconic scenes.
EON productions is a cottage industry, one of the only ones in Hollywood. They've given the Bond movies a style, look and formula that makes the series stand out from other movies in that genre. It's a legacy dating back to 1961, her father having known Ian Fleming and worked to bring his character and stories to the big screen. Between her and Michael G. Wilson they have nurtured the series, it's a family business and modern studios like Amazon with their ideas of "cinematic universes", spin offs, TV tie ins and pandering to what's trendy within the Hollywood bubble will clash with the house style of EON. Smart studios leave EON pretty much alone to make Bond movies.
@@martinmoore7279 probably they see that there's more dollars in a big screen release. What we are talking about here is the direction of the series and spinoffs
The simple reality is that it is extremely difficult to keep a movie series viable, let alone (as the Bond series has been) hugely popular. Sooner or later even a uniquely long lasting major franchise will run into a set of circumstances that will put it on ice for some time. We really shouldn't be expecting the Bond films to keep defying the normal rules of the film business.
We will see Bond in 2030 maybe. I realise i probably wont see more than three or four in my lifetime. I'm glad i found Bond in 83. It's been a pretty good run.
Given half a buck and the chance to make another 50 cents, Amazon would turn the Bond franchise into a Macdonalds burger. Good on ya for standing fast, Barb! 🎉
Very much on BB’s side on this. The second biggest film I ever saw as a young teenager was Roger Moore in Live and Let Die after Jaws. I was in awe and had never seen anything like it! The franchise belongs on the big screen as a major spectacle which is what it is. To dilute the brand with spin-offs will literally kill off Bond. Keep up the good fight Barbara 💪
I watched No Time to Die here on TH-cam a few weeks ago. $300 M spent and they couldn’t find a production designer that knew what a 1950’s missile silo should look like, despite there being lots of pictures on the internet. I noticed they lazily used the interior of the Bond soundstage with very little design, it looked underwhelming. The specific virus plot was nicked from a 1990’s TV show, and the Bionic eye was another nicked idea too. Two hours and forty minutes of boring talk with very little action. Barbara Broccoli needs to call it a day with the Bond films.
I think she had her hands well and truly tied by the distributors re No time to die. Hollywood brought in Pheobe something orruther to woke up the script or threaten not to distribute. Brocolli's revenge was perhaps to kill off the three main characters to make it difficult for anyone else to mess with the future of the franchise. It's all very sad. And yes the film was very cheap looking....compare it to what we saw on the screen in the 60's and the relative budgets spent then.
@@Jerry-l2b6z They killed off Bond because that's what the producers and Daniel Craig wanted to do. It was also Craig who requested bringing in Phoebe Waller Bridge to rewrite dialogue. Broccoli wanted to kill Bond because like Craig she doesn't actually like the character. She didn't create Bond, she just inherited the IP. You must remember she wanted her own spinoff series that would've focused on Jinx from Die Another Day. Broccoli has already stated that she will modernize Bond even if she has to drag the fans along kicking and screaming.
Well put. I can also add that the whole thing was shut down for Covid or whatever the excuse was...didnt Craig or someone injure themselves?? And in that time they put out press saying they were going to use that time to do some reshoots, improve scenes, improve the writing, add in more plot and more money was coming in for effects. And so when it was released it was going to be amazing and epic and better than ever....and then the results were the dreadful, boring, tedious, depressing No Time to Die....Back in the 70s we were watching Bond in a Lotus becoming a submarine. We watched him go into space, we watched him in epic boat chases and fighting a giant with metal teeth....in No Time to Die we watched him get insulted, play hide and seek in a forest and then get blown in what looked like a concrete sewerage plant....I miss the 70s.....Craig was never Bond for me.
@@TheBadElf She can try to drag the fans kicking and screaming. But all that will happen is they will walk away en mass. And she will end up with flop after flop and a dead franchise like Disney have with Star Wars, like the BBC have with Doctor Who, like Trek, like Marvel. Making films for a modern audience that is not there, while ignoring and insulting the fanbase is commercial suicide...just ask Disney / Lucasfilm....Acolyte, Solo and so on....the damage is now so bad I dont think they will ever get a hit Star Wars series or film again. People have walked away, they no longer care, they have moved on and just expect it to be bad, so much so that even the stuff that is not truly terrible, like Andor, has hardly any views....
The James Bond movies had to remain cinematic movies that first and mainly are enjoyed in cinemas on the big screen! But I 'm not completely against TV spin-offs. BB must probably give something to Amazon to keep James Bond in cinemas. Maybe we could get a high-end animated series showing James Bond in the 1950's and 60's? Or maybe a TV series featuring a 00-agent working under cover in SPECTRE? Same universe as James Bond, but Bond himself is never shown on screen. I don't want more than one or at the most two Bond related TV series, nothing like Marvel.
They have killed James Bond. They gave the 007 to someone else. It's their franchise, they have the right to do so. To me as a fan of the "old fashion target group", it was a clear signal; they have moved on to a more "modern audience" and they clearly don't want to make movies for people like me anymore. Don't get me wrong, no hard feelings, no "ideological crusade" going on. I just don't feel like paying a cent for something branded 007 anymore. James Bond is dead.
The WP article makes a mistake right off the bat when it claims that Amazon owns the Bond franchise while Eon has creative control. Not exactly true. They co-own them with Eon, but nonetheless this merger so to speak will not be easy for Eon. They had no say in Amazon purchasing MGM and Amazon isn't focused on cinematic releases. They want content for their streaming service. They're totally the wrong fit for distributing James Bond. Then again I'm not entirely against spinoffs if they followed what Matt Reeves has done with Batman
Stay true to the roots. That family focuses ONLY on the Bond franchise, nothing else. They protect the family's legacy task of guarding Bond as a holy duty
Yeah, Amazon wants to fuck up Bond the way Disney has destroyed Star Wars and Paramount screwed up Star Trek. I predict No Time to Die will turn out to be the last Bond movie.
We're NOT in the longest gap since between License to Kill and Golden-Eye! What about between Spectre and No Time to Die? Spectre came out in late 2015. I mean yeah they made No Time to Die but it was still delayed multiple times. So this is the third longest gap at the moment.
BTW the gap bwteen LTK and GE was 2,320 days. Between SPECTRE and NTTD it was 2,166. 2,320 from No Time to Day's premiere will be 6th Feb 2028. Realistically they need 2 years if it really is true that no work has been done on a script. Some people I'm having conversations with think Bond 26 won't be until 2029 or 2030. We'll see. Maybe They'll break the deadlock and think will get moving. But maybe they won't too.
I was nine years old when the first Bond film, Dr. No, was released in 1962. I have all of them on DVD/Blu ray disc except one: "No Time To Die". I have not, nor will I ever, see it. Former Bond girl Gemma Arterton was correct when she said, "Sometimes you just have to respect tradition".
Saltzman really stuffed it up for Bond didn’t he a deal made in the 70’s that is having major repercussions today. Hope BB firmly stands her ground with 007 and his future.
Praise for Barbara’s decisions. She knows best. It’s just corporate greed from Amazon that they want to milk the Bond franchise. Into other bits and pieces for their own self gain. Barbara is a really smart woman. Bond deserves to be only up on the big screen. That’s what partly makes him so special. Classy.
In my opinion, if Barbara broccoli cannot do it anymore then she needs to step down and they need to find somebody in the family that has the passion for the bond franchise to move it forward into the future and show the love for Mr. Fleming and the fans and the franchise as a whole start off fresh with a clean slate and respect what bond is have a good Scripps good casting and just go with it that’s all I want and for the love of God, when you go to cast the new bond 26. Make sure he looks like what the character looks like in the books that’s only thing I want you do not let Amazon touch it because we all know that they’re track record is not a successful one
I think 'No Time To Die' is the last we'll see of the Bond franchise. Its been done to death now and ideas are running short. Perhaps we should all respect her legacy for Bond and let the light fade out.
@ and that’s an idea, but this is my idea for no Time to die were you should’ve been written like this Daniel Craig James Bond is literally an imposter M knows about it and he hast to keep it under wraps because he’s using him to take down Spectre, and on top of that m knows that the new money penny and the new Q from q branch is literally working for Daniel Craig James Bond to infiltrate. Am I six to get information on the new operatives at or the old operatives from mi6 just start killing them around the world and what missions that they are and M knows about this, but he has an ace in the hole and old M I six operative that has been put in hiding and is ready to go and he in the other operative snow about what’s happening so they are protected the imposter. James Bond goes on his mission to take out bad guy after the mission is completed. M finally uses his Trump card by calling up the retired mi6 to come in and take out the imposter. James Bond played by Daniel Craig buy a bullet to the head. He walks up on that island right up to him and guess who it is. It is Timothy Dalton‘s James Bond, but an older one that has been called back out of retirement he takes care of business and M call him up and congratulate him on a job. Well done and then Moneypenny in the new Q are arrested for espionage and brought up on charges and are waiting for trial and Spectre’s daughter is arrested for using the imposter. James Bond played by Daniel Craig to commit patricide by killing her father at the behest of the new bad guy and there is no daughter there is no child and she does not get to drive off into the sunset with a smile on her face she is put in jail and waiting on charges for what she did the new M in his office is congratulating Timothy Dalton Spond for a job well done, and he has back into retirement, and there is a new money penny. She is a Caucasian, white female, and she takes upon the new position, and they have a new Q working for Q branch and that is Desmond Lewis grandson the old Q working at Q branch now the end
It's a difficult balancing act. BB wants to maintain Bonds cinematic integrity. Amazon wants to make a F....k Ton of money on spin offs. .. If done right a spin off bond series might modernise or breath new life into the brand.. .. Thou, I suspect Amazons intentions may be short time returns, meaning cheap taky spin offs..
@ well, I do understand your point on it but you need to look at it in this perspective. It is been how much about five or six years ever since no Time to die premiered in the theater, and I can see Amazons perspective on it no matter how much I don’t like the company for what they’ve done, but you know she needs to start producing bond films because at the end of the day, the James Bond franchise needs to start making money and they’re not in right now Barbara broccoli. The only thing that she wants to do is do her own side projects with her friend Daniel Craig and not be at eon productions doing her job and that is just my take on it because that is her job is to produce bond films, and she’s not I mean they haven’t even started on a script or even started going into casting for the new James Bond or for the other characters or even been scouting locations around the world and that just tells you something that sometimes somebody needs to have a little push to start doing their job and I can understand on her point of you that bond belongs in the theater but you know something needs to be produced and if it is spin offs then so be it that’s just my take on it and I hope I do not disrespect your point of you, but that is mine
I don't want to see what the other 00 agents are up to. It would cheapen the franchise and you just know each of the agent's films/ tv shows would be filled with identity politics. I don't want to see Bond's origin story about his childhood. It would be terrible fan fiction and they would use it to rewrite the character. I also don't want to see films/ tv shows that focus on Bond villains. They would try to make the villains relatable and try to make the audience empathize with them them. A new Bond film every few years is an event and that's all we want.
Why the hell did Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson sell the rights to amazon in the first place. They have seen what Disney has done with the Star Wars Franchise. It's clearly going to go the same way with Bond and Amazon.
There comes a time in your life for the need to move on and just enjoy the fruits of your labour and I imagine this was instilled with Lucas and Broccolli. They continue to profit from re-runs and spin-offs royalties, but there comes a time to live and let live and let it continue to thrive and entertain a new generation of audiences, with what they have achieved.
Seem you are too young or not a true Bond fan. The Bond films begun around 1960 with Coby Broccoli and Harry Saltzman as partners forming Eon Production and DanJac who holds the rights of the films. No film studio was interested in the project at the time, but only United Artist, who at that time give freedom to producers agree to film Dr. No. As a fact UA green light at that time was only a handshake, as they leave the producer total control of their projects. Dr. no was a succes which leads to other movies in the sixties. Unfortunately in the 70 UA was acquired by MGM. In the 70 and 80 MGM was switched many times from owners due financial troubles. In that period MGM wanted money so they let EON do their thing. But at some time Harry Saltzman got in financial troubles and after many litigation from Broccoli against Saltzman, Harry Saltzman agree so sell his 50% of shares in EON to MGM. For Broccoli it meant having a partner who is also on terms. Unfortunately for him MGM in the 80s had many financial troubles which lead them with many court cases against each other. The agreement was that EON produce the film and MGM has exclusive agreements. MGM knew that their sole value is the Bond films. Timothy Dalton made only 2 films due to all problems in court so he broke his contract after waiting a long time. MGM was later brought by a trust which Sony had a big part. Hence you see that a big part of the Craig era was co produced with Sony Pictures. That is not the complete story, but also Sony and MGM did a swap of IP so EON could produce Casino Royale. I think that before the last film No Time to Die, the trust owning MGM sold it MGM to Amazon. EON Production did not have any say on this not they can have a say in this. Now the Amazon management has to deal with EON Production, which most Amazon management does not have experience making movies or they are no in the business of distributing movies.
If they give in to what Amazon wants it will suffer the same fate as all the other beloved franchises have in recent years. I'd rather see Bond vanish for a while than be over exploited and utterly ruined.
I agree. She killed off Bond in NTTD so I have zero faith she has any idea what to do for Bond 26. I see the current dispute/intransigence with Amazon as karma.
Hang in there Barbara! Just look what happened to other franchises when they "expanded" to spin-offs and tv-series. I can't name one example hat went well. Bond belongs on the big screen. It soul be 3-4 years between the films. It would keep the franchise interesting and exclusive, and make every movie a happening. (More or less...)
What B.B. is doing is to keep the integrity of the Bond Franchise.👍 You don't want anyone making a Bullshit Parody of James Bond, Period. I personally would like to see a new Bond film ASAP, But Barbara will stick to her guns until everything is 'just - right'. But I would be on her side if she decided to call it a day with the franchise, if she can't make a deal on her terms then walk away. Nothing last forever and Bond has had a great run for the past 62yrs. and 25 films(not including the remark of 'Thunderball' as 'Never Say Never Again' with Sean Connery and the '67 version of 'Casino Royal' with David Niven) If this cernario were become fact, ending the Bond Franchise with the Daniel Craig Bond films would be a great send off, But Very Sad Indeed! But it might be better to do so than let others dictate film policy and the interary of the Ian Fleming and Eon Productions Lagacy. Hope for a positive outcome with a 26th Bond film, the biggest obstacle is the bottom line, THE MONEY! I don't think Barbara would let the 'money - factor' decision ruin the Bond Legacy.......007👀???
Well done EON / Barbara 007 is for the big screen only! Let’s not forget we need Cinematic houses across the uk. Amazon you’ve killed the shops with easy shopping and people have lost jobs. You employ staff that I’m unsure should be working in uk, adhering to employment law, as all subcontract I bet. Yes you’ve the money as a organisation. Let’s only see 007 on the big screens, there will be enough of us 9 months later purchasing the dvd / on line via Prime AFTER. Stick to the Walter PPK it must stay Cinemas only. We as fans will never dilute 007. Remember Barbara you word is your Bond…..James Bond 😊
James Bond films have always been an old-school Broccoli family business (after Harry Saltzman was bought out) balancing itself against the profit-making needs of a large rotating corporate overlord.
As quality with new product lines always a risky thing. And the failures of other big name franchises getting more chatter than the succeses, stick to your guns Ms. Broccoli ‼️👍
I agree with Barbara Broccoli, Bond is a cinematic icon, an institution, not meant to be streamed or made into a spinoff, Amazon are idiots, shouldn't do business with them, it's a mistake.
@@DannyKaffee I suppose she wanted to reboot it again, and Daniel Craig was going to finish with 4 films but then decided to make one more as he felt there was something missing for his final Bond film, he wanted to make it a fitting ending to his reign as Bond. It was rebooted when Daniel Craig took over, going back to the beginning when Bond becomes 007, so it's going to be rebooted again. It could be it was both Broccoli and Craig's idea for the ending in No Time To Die, as Craig was also a co- producer. Goes to show how much Broccoli liked Craig as Bond
EON has now an opportunity to get out of the deal with the devil. I was on the fence about Barbra, but damn, if she pulls out of this I will cherish her forever.
@ well, that’s an interesting one. I feel a new partnership could be the solution. However, it would not necessarily be a Hollywood brand name. Elon Musk would be perfect!
though I love spin offs with starwars and startrek, to name but a few.. bond is unique in away diluting it will destroy bond. bond will always stand the test of time if left how it is. in my opinion
Didn’t Barbara Broccoli or EON contemplate spin-offs with Wai Lin and Jinx? Some would like to see a Bond series or few films set in the 50/60’s. I’d think Amazon could accommodate that, provided that it’s done tastefully and thoughtfully. Also a Leiter series or film could work, partially based on the comics. Perhaps Batman can be a source of inspiration once again, which how DC and Matt Reeves are doing the world building around that character. However I greatly support that Bond remains a grand cinematic experience.
As a Bond fan since the beginning. I will never watch another Bond film again. I have not watched No Time to Die all the way through. Killing Bond basically stuck 2 fingers up all Bond fans that had invested time supporting the franchise. Killed the goose that laid the golden egg. You kill off the main character Doh?
Bond is for the big screen with massive and epic action sequences, great stories and a fantastic cast. I believe that Barbara should stand firm on this. I don't want to see Bond diluted into some kind of Amazon Prime streaming service with crap spin off TV shows that turn Bond into some kind of second rate McGuyver. I want to see a new Bond film at my local cinema with a new James Bond fighting the bad guys across the big screen, because that's where James Bond should be, and where he belongs...
0:46 "She is fiercely protective of Bond's legacy." I have to disagree. I don't see how killing off James Bond in No Time To Die is fiercely protecting Bond's legacy. Imho it's the complete opposite. It's damaged/ruined the legacy. Sure, you can make a case Broccoli was protecting the legacy up to NTTD but since then? No. I don't care if Eon sell up or Amazon play hardball with Eon. Sadly, Eon killed off the proverbial golden goose and the franchise feels (or is) directionless. It's no great surprise Amazon and Eon aren't on the same page. Is there even a page? 🙄 One possible scenario is Amazon file a lawsuit for unreasonable delay/breach of contact. Assuming Amazon were to win the lawsuit, Eon would be forced to make Bond 26 by a specified date and pay Amazon x amount in lost earnings due to the unreasonable delay. Amazon are huge multi national corporation so if they take the legal route Eon may be in serious trouble.
Unbelievable that they spent $6.5 billion, with James Bond as the crown jewel, but didn't have a clear understanding of what they wanted to do with the franchise...
I haven't enjoyed any Bond films since Barbara Broccoli fired Peirce Brosnan. She is to blame for the humorless, dreary, and woke changes to James Bond movies. They're now rubbish.
I did not know that there was nothing being done for the next film. I heard through the internet, I guess it was some peoples imaginations, that there was a script and they were just deciding on who to use in the lead Cavell or ??? Barbara should continue to be protective of the series but foresight when making these should be used to avoid stagnation or the loss of interest in the character due to delays.
Amazon Bond will end up as another Disney Star Wars. Barbara Broccoli is right. She’s not stupid seeing other once lucrative IP’s destroyed by over saturation and garbage stories. Amazon will likely find some way to cancel her in the end and do all the damage they want.
Barbara Broccoli is as far left as Kathleen Kennedy. I actually trust Amazon more than BB. Reacher under Amazon has stuck to Lee Child's books. No woke BS in that show. I'm not saying I like Amazon, but they might be the lesser of two evils.
Well, considering the popularity of cinema and streaming, there's probably a good reason to consider streaming... But there sure can be a combination, or a sort of compromise, to preserve the Bond as he was and is intended to be and make the movie approachable to audiences who just won't go to cinema... I do not like some elements of Bond movies, however, I do not endorse or like humiliation/belitteling of characters, if that is the right word, as it happened in some cases. So, Bond as an alcoholic and a police oficer is not how I think he should evolve, but higher personal stakes and higher temptations, more accent on affairs related to Britain, and more challenging relationships would be awesome to see. I am sure a villain would try to bribe him or blackmail him with a life of a girl. I hope we will see it in some of sequels
I always remember how there was buzz about a spin-off movie centering on Wei-Lin from T.N.D., and same again for Jinx from D.A.D. I didn't get why but I would have watched those. For contrast, I watch Reacher on Amazon. Word is Neagly is getting her own show. Seems like a good one to skip due to overbearing trends.
Barbara should stay difficult. When the committees and groups of people take over to make creative decisions, creativity, always dies. There was absolutely no way that’s spinoffs will make it better. I still don’t like where the world is politically right now for another bond film. It really feels that it’ll be ruined. On the other hand, I don’t really like what they did with no time to die. I don’t want them to cast the new bond because I don’t like any of the options people keep talking about. Honestly I feel like the best option is just to wait it out.
I'm a barbara hater, but I'm with her on this. Bond shouldn't be explored like marvel's series and such. That is pure rubbish. However, I think it's about time to release a new Bond movie by now and sequels every two or three years. Put Nolan to direct it and that's it.
hi at this point i am very worried about bonds future and weather bond 26 will happen at all however think disney management of star wars stands as a massive warning of what not to do wonder are you worried
Good on Barbara, hold the line.

Barbara Broccoli's part of the issue in my analysis.
The terrible changes in the Craig era to Bond as a character, and the franchise more broadly, were at the very least made with her blessing, if not her insistence.

High praise from The Fonz.

I would agree, perhaps Barbara is stuck in the past abit, with "tried and tested" formula of doing things.
And maybe Amazon could inject new blood into the franchise.
I just don't trust Amazon.
The latter is likely thinking of Disney-fying*
Bond over a short term cycle,
(10 years?)
which may well ruin the franchise ...
Broccoli family killed Bond with NTTD. Now I'm fed up with the entire thing.
Thank You Barbara! I believe that You are in the Right, I've Enjoyed Bond for Years. Please do the Best You Can for the Series.
Good on Barbara Brocoli. Her father was very protective of the character too and in keeping the Ian Fleming legacy of James Bond going.
How quickly they moved from the masterpiece formula of casion royale to what was nttd is insane. I don’t think we will ever get anything of the quality of CR again
Nobody thought they could do something of the quality of Casino Royale until Casino Royale. They can do it if they think about it right.
@ i think the point is that we have moved past what can be done with any real freedom. The are so many constraints now that its highly unlikely a director would ever be given total free reign on decision making.
45 minutes of static card games. Interspersed with machete on a staircase . Vomiting in bathroom. And gonad torture / swiss clinic bowel rehab. You might want to check it again.
CR has too many jump cuts but it’s the best modern JB film - feels like no strategy from anyone
@ i wonder if an 81 year old martin campbell could be tempted to do the next one 😬
007 belongs on the biggest screen possible and as a singular entity. End of!
Happy to wait for a long time.
Given what Amazon did to LOTR, I'd wouldn't trust them to take out the trash let alone the Bond franchise.
Nobody loves Bond more than me but, after Spectre and No Time To Die, maybe it's time to call it a day.
That's a fair view to have but you won't get much love for it around here 😉
The Bond series was a Cold War phenomenon…perhaps recast it with nebulous Chinese spys?
@@007dossier He will get some love from me as I think the very same.
@Simon-xc5oyI thought only I felt that way!!! Since craig took over. All bond films progressively got worse
Broccoli wants the movie in the cinema, Amazon wants it straight to streaming
@@martinmoore7279 probably they see that there's more dollars in a big screen release. What we are talking about here is the direction of the series and spinoffs
There was a Bond TV series. It was called "The Man from UNCLE"
While true, there is a thurst for Bond.
'No Time To Fry', 'A View To A Fill-let 'O Fish', 'Casino Royale (with Cheese)', 'Live And Eat Fries'....the list goes on.... 😄
@@karlcleveley1114ok you win the internet & Bonds Aston Martin DB5..

I have to agree with you.
Amazon would dilute the brand.
Just like what happened to Star Wars.
Wring out every penny they could put of the franchise.
@@karlcleveley1114 .😂👍🍔
Very much on BB’s side on this. The second biggest film I ever saw as a young teenager was Roger Moore in Live and Let Die after Jaws. I was in awe and had never seen anything like it! The franchise belongs on the big screen as a major spectacle which is what it is. To dilute the brand with spin-offs will literally kill off Bond. Keep up the good fight Barbara 💪
I wouldn’t trust Amazon with Bond either.
People have walked away, they no longer care, they have moved on and just expect it to be bad, so much so that even the stuff that is not truly terrible, like Andor, has hardly any views....
keep up the good fight Barbara! :)
*_If need be, I will wait EONs for the next James Bond film._*
I didn't notice that. 👍
Rather they took their time over the movies, than have the franchise milked. The Star Wars franchise is a good example.
It's time to retire the franchise and leave the idiots at Amazon holding an empty bag!
Amazon should have no say in the future of Bond, Barbara needs to keep control
They own MGM so they own half the franchise.
Jeff leave the development of Bond ‘s next film, to Barbara Broccli!
Yes!! Bond for the BIG SCREEN. ONLY!!
Stay true to the roots. That family focuses ONLY on the Bond franchise, nothing else. They protect the family's legacy task of guarding Bond as a holy duty
It should stay in the theatres. It’s not a tv show.
Yeah, Amazon wants to fuck up Bond the way Disney has destroyed Star Wars and Paramount screwed up Star Trek. I predict No Time to Die will turn out to be the last Bond movie.
Don’t forget Doctor Who
We're NOT in the longest gap since between License to Kill and Golden-Eye! What about between Spectre and No Time to Die? Spectre came out in late 2015. I mean yeah they made No Time to Die but it was still delayed multiple times. So this is the third longest gap at the moment.
We are heading for the longest gap.
Don’t let what happened to Star Wars happen to bond. Please 😫
Classy.
If given the chance Amazon will screw up James Bond the way they screwed up Lord of the rings. Barbara Broccoli needs to stay strong.
Bond movies should be made by EON and aired in cinemas, not made by Amazon and streamed.
Yeah, but Amazon owns MGM so they own 50% of Bond.
And guess what the new James Bond is played by Henry Cavill
The only thing that she wants to do is do her own side projects with her friend Daniel Craig and not be at eon productions doing her job and that is just my take on it because that is her job is to produce bond films, and she’s not I mean they haven’t even started on a script or even started going into casting for the new James Bond or for the other characters or even been scouting locations around the world and that just tells you something that sometimes somebody needs to have a little push to start doing their job and I can understand on her point of you that bond belongs in the theater but you know something needs to be produced and if it is spin offs then so be it that’s just my take on it and I hope I do not disrespect your point of you, but that is mine
i do not want Amazon anywhere near taking over or even being a small part of the James Bond franchise
i´m in the camp on barbaras side. big screen only !!! of course she´s right !!!
James Bond is for movies ONLY, screw Amazon!
I hate the thought of Amazon spoiling Bond but frankly after “No Time To Die”, I haven’t got great faith in Barbara Broccoli either!
1:09 We do not trust platforms for Bond , Hold your ground Barbara
I don't want to see what the other 00 agents are up to. It would cheapen the franchise and you just know each of the agent's films/ tv shows would be filled with identity politics. I don't want to see Bond's origin story about his childhood. It would be terrible fan fiction and they would use it to rewrite the character. I also don't want to see films/ tv shows that focus on Bond villains. They would try to make the villains relatable and try to make the audience empathize with them them. A new Bond film every few years is an event and that's all we want.
Good on Barbara, we don't want Bond being destroyed in the same way Disney destroyed Star Wars.
Stick to your Walther PPK guns, Barbara Broccoli!
I'm not sure I trust Barbara Broccoli with Bond anymore, after how the last three movies went.
And you’re not the only one I don’t trust her either
I agree. She killed off Bond in NTTD so I have zero faith she has any idea what to do for Bond 26.
I see the current dispute/intransigence with Amazon as karma.
No time to die was amazing. Spector average. Skyfall amazing
As far as I'm concerned the series is OVER anyway. The answer to your question is NEITHER. Bond should be RETIRED. Full stop.
I hope Barbara will won this battle.
What B.B. is doing is to keep the integrity of the Bond Franchise.👍 You don't want anyone making a Bullshit Parody of James Bond, Period.

It must be true to itself on the big screen and they need to get Henry Cavill in as 007 asap!!! Excellent show, sir!!!👍👍👍
Why did she kill Bond then?
@@DannyKaffee I suppose she wanted to reboot it again, and Daniel Craig was going to finish with 4 films but then decided to make one more as he felt there was something missing for his final Bond film, he wanted to make it a fitting ending to his reign as Bond. It was rebooted when Daniel Craig took over, going back to the beginning when Bond becomes 007, so it's going to be rebooted again. It could be it was both Broccoli and Craig's idea for the ending in No Time To Die, as Craig was also a co- producer. Goes to show how much Broccoli liked Craig as Bond
NO TV! NO spinoffs! They have only damaged franchises like Marvel and Star Wars by watering them down and making them less of an "event."
Amazon is awful. I hope she holds the line.
Barbara is right
Amazon would just do to bond what they did to lord of the rings. Better to let bond end the way he did than ever let them have it.
EON has now an opportunity to get out of the deal with the devil. I was on the fence about Barbra, but damn, if she pulls out of this I will cherish her forever.
How does she pull out? Amazon own 50% of the franchise after buying MGM.
@ well, that’s an interesting one. I feel a new partnership could be the solution. However, it would not necessarily be a Hollywood brand name. Elon Musk would be perfect!
Just look what happened to Star Wars, it was absolutely ruined. Stay strong Babs.
though I love spin offs with starwars and startrek, to name but a few.. bond is unique in away diluting it will destroy bond.
bond will always stand the test of time if left how it is. in my opinion
They don't want to do more Bond films with a white male lead. I don't see how that's protective of his legacy.
'Stay in your lane...' - a big black busty Bond (or Blonde) in the making. 😂
@@terrymann1341 I don't think they're talking about new Bond movies debuting on Amazon Prime. Just that they want spinoff series.

"She is fiercely protective of Bond's legacy."
I have to disagree.
🙄
One possible scenario is Amazon file a lawsuit for unreasonable delay/breach of contact. Assuming Amazon were to win the lawsuit, Eon would be forced to make Bond 26 by a specified date and pay Amazon x amount in lost earnings due to the unreasonable delay. Amazon are huge multi national corporation so if they take the legal route Eon may be in serious trouble.
She also said the next Bond doesn't need to be white.
Which breach of contract? MGM owns 50% percent of EON so it simple a disagreement between 2 owners.
Unbelievable that they spent $6.5 billion, with James Bond as the crown jewel, but didn't have a clear understanding of what they wanted to do with the franchise...
Amazon will probably do for Bond what Disney did for Star Wars... good thing she's taking her stance, even though it doesn't benefit the audience.
Stay true
It ain't going to be good if Amazon get their hands on it believe me, just look at LOTR
Good
I always remember how there was buzz about a spin-off movie centering on Wei-Lin from T.N.D., and same again for Jinx from D.A.D. I didn't get why but I would have watched those.
For contrast, I watch Reacher on Amazon. Word is Neagly is getting her own show. Seems like a good one to skip due to overbearing trends.
I think it's pretty clear what's happening tho, Jeff Bezos is a perfect Bond villain and things get to close to home for Amazon to make a new movie :D
They KILLED Bond. They KILLED the Franchise. LET THAT SINK IN.
Bond is Bond. No Amazon b-s.
I'm a barbara hater, but I'm with her on this. Bond shouldn't be explored like marvel's series and such. That is pure rubbish. However, I think it's about time to release a new Bond movie by now and sequels every two or three years. Put Nolan to direct it and that's it.
I don't believe it. I think it is just creating excuses for the fact that she has been doing other stuff rather than Bond
She may be doing other stuff as she can't do Bond the way she wants to
hi at this point i am very worried about bonds future and weather bond 26 will happen at all however think disney management of star wars stands as a massive warning of what not to do wonder are you worried
